H ardly a day goes by that we don’t witness horrifying stories in the news about teachers who cross many boundaries with their students. No one is more precious than your chil- dren, and during the hours you can’t be with them – let’s face it, they are either being exposed to darkness or basking in the light. Here, at MHT, we can confidently say, it is the latter. Our teachers take their God-given charge with great responsibility. For them, it is not just teaching required academic subjects but rather what surrounds all they do. They are the kind and cheerful voice our students hear first thing in the morning, the one who guides them into lifelong godly character and daily habits that will strengthen their faith – such as reading God’s word and praying. They equip them with the tools of success, making something beautiful out of their lives, and when they hurt, their loving care and gentle words are like salve on a wound - healing, softening hard places and comforting. Our teachers are playing a pivotal role in the lives of these children who will never forget all that has been sown into them during their years here. MAJOR MHT FUNDRAISING DRIVE UNDERWAY FOR 2014-15

W ith our school license being put on hold

for at least 2-3 years, it is crucial that

we do all we can to insure the financial stability

of our school over that time. Therefore, it is

my hope (as managing director of MHT) to

travel and fundraise for our school until such

time as we are able to become state funded.

So far, I have connections in the following plac-

es: Switzerland (Basel), Finland, Canada

(Toronto) and the U.S. (Indiana, South Caroli-

na, Seattle, Virginia, Richmond). If you live in

any of those areas and feel that your group,

church, Messianic congregation would be inter-

ested in hearing about our Jerusalem Messianic

school and its importance, please let me know

so that I can try to make a stop in your area

and speak to your group.

“ Our family immigrated to the north of

Israel 5 years ago, at which time our

daughter Lael, then in the 4th grade was a happy girl

who was able to make friends quickly and easily in

her 4th and 5th grade classes. Once we moved to

the Jerusalem area and she began attending 6th grade,

things dramatically changed. Over the next two

years, she was not successful in making even one

friend at what seemed to be a hostile environment in

the local public school. We could see how sad she’d

become and how much this was adversely affecting

her. Our once happy girl seemed like a wilted flow-

er. It was then that we decided to put her into Ma-

kor HaTikvah. What a huge difference it made. The

friendly, believing girls were just what she need-

ed. Today, as she prepares to graduate this June and

go on to high school, she is, once again, the hap-

py, bubbly girl she always was. She loves the

Lord and participates on several worship

teams. We are so grateful that Lael has been

able to flourish and thrive in this special environ-

ment where she is, once again, the person who

God created her to be.”

“As usual, great newsletter and GREAT article about the Cleburne Christian Academy’s Jean Day.

Thanks for your encouragement to them.” Kevin B.

“Always great to hear how God is working in your community. Our prayers are with you as you finish

out the school year.” David S. (Principal of a believing Canadian school)

“I’ve just received your school newsletter. Wow, it’s wonderful, what the Lord is doing! Thanks a lot

for sending those encouraging news to me! I rejoice with the girl who was helped through the school

and the Lord’s help to lose her shyness!! Praise God!” Silvia P. (Switzerland)

“Many thanks for the April MHT Newsletter; always such a thrill to read of all the great things that are

happening. Praise the Lord for the wonderful way the 9 year old has had her life transformed by com-

ing to MHT! MHT is making such an impact on the lives of all the students, whatever age, and I know

the foundations that you are putting into place in their lives now, will last them throughout the years to

come.” Grace P.

are so inspiring! As always, you & the school are in my prayers.” Duana J.B.

A Prophetic Word From Our

Supporter

A bba Father, we lift up the Makor HaTikvah School,

their families, friends for help, health and healing

of their body, soul, and spirit. We continue to worship

and praise you for the validation of the school so it can

continue in what you have ordained and called it to. We

thank you that you have called all the right teachers for

this school year. Thank you that they have unity and

good health in the name of Yeshua, for the carrying on

of the studies and education. We Praise you Father, for

provision for the teachers' studies. We thank you that where

you guide, you provide. We thank you that the reputation of

this school is spread to many more families who want to see

their children raised in a school whose curriculum is centered

around Biblical principles. We thank you that the families are

funded and financed through their own means or through

generous donations of partners. His mercies surround you

and you lack for nothing. I declare this in the name of Ye-

shua and by the power of the Ruach ha Kodesh (Holy Spirit).

Amen

Create a Partnership with Your Students when Designing a Social Contract

How to Be Involved

Funding Teachers’ Education

We need well-equipped Messianic teachers,

and our goal is to help them obtain their de-

grees. This fund helps to pay for the educa-

tional costs because low-salaried teachers

cannot afford it themselves. Most of the

teachers have 2–3 more years of study, to be

fully certified. As this is a governmental

requirement, it will help us to finally re-

ceive our license.

Culture Fund

We cannot provide school

trips without subsidizing

their transportation which is

very costly. If you wish to

help us, please designate your gift for

“school trips.”

Tax Bill Overdue

Our tax bill is $100,000 in arrears. Please help

us to become debt free!

Kids still pray for A 4-Seater Swing

Every morning, our students pray for a bird-nest swing, which will com-

plete our new playground.

Would you like to help answer this prayer?

n’t needed replacing, are now warped. Cost: $2,600

More Needs...

T his month’s post, entitled “Create a Partnership with Your Students when Designing a Social

Contract,” is intended for teachers and educators, but is also very useful for parents in terms of

setting boundaries at home. Please take a moment to go to our website www.makorhatikvah.org,

press the articles tab and see what Dr. Curwin has written. Here is an excerpt: “The four main com-

ponents of a social contract are values, rules, expectations, and consequences. With appropriate activ-

ity and language modifications, these activities will work with students of all ages.”

Letter from Our Managing Director

“Train-up a child in the Way he should go; Even when old, he will not depart from It.” Proverbs 22:6

H ere we are at the

end of May, looking with antici-

pation to two graduations – those

from 6th grade and those from

middle-school (9th grade) who

are leaving us permanently and

going on to regular Israeli high

schools.

Next month, we will be devoting

much of our newsletter to the

9th grade students and what be-

ing here has meant to them. You

won’t want to miss their own per-

sonal statements of how this

school has prepared them for this

next chapter of their lives. Along

with the many challenges this

year has brought, there have also

been so many blessings – some of

which include seeing many stu-

dents develop the daily habit of

starting their off day with prayer,

something they will, undoubted-

ly, carry with them into their

adult lives. Also, there are many

new and exciting plans for next

year which we feel will impact

our academic strides in very posi-

tive ways. God has faithfully

helped us to turn a corner where

victory and blessing await us. Of

course, it goes without saying

that you have been a large part

of the success of this school. You

have helped us to support the

continuing education of four

teachers this year, you have

helped us to subsidize financially-

struggling families who wouldn’t

have otherwise had the money to

cover their tuition charges, and

you have helped us to meet our

monthly expenses. We would

not be here without you! You

have a personal stake in the

success of Makor HaTikvah, and

we are grateful for that. Thanks

again for your participation and

for wanting to be part of the mir-

acle of a Messianic Jewish school

in the heart of Jerusalem.
