The exam for each Final Exam period is set to close 15 minutes later than the exam time ends to allow for flexibility in the proctors beginning and ending the exam. The proctor for each exam will give you 2 hours from when they begin the exam (if you arrive late, you will not get the full 2 hours). The PROCTOR will determine when the exam ends and will tell you when you must grade your Final Exam. Course data like grades, assignments, and discussion boards were all successfully restored with one exception: students’ Group associations did not carry over. Agenda for Tuesday 9/4 in 107 MCH

1) Login to the lab computer a) If you are unable to login, tell a Lab TA b) They will log you in to the computer with their credentials c) Go to myFSU to reset your password. This process is not immediate, but you should be able

to login to the lab computer the following week. This can happen because your account didn’t sync as it was supposed to.

2) Register in MML, if you have not done so already i) Using Firefox, go to myFSU to access your Canvas Lab section ii) Click on MyLab & Mastering, click on the yellow box Open MyLab & Mastering iii) Follow the directions on the Pearson page iv) Ask for help if you encounter problems v) Pearson reps will be available to help with registering in MML in the Lab.

3) If you have already registered in MML through your Canvas Lab section, Wait for the Math Course page to load (it has a yellow background)

a) Select MAC1105 to access MML directly (not through Canvas) b) This ensures that you are using FIREFOX with the correct settings for MML c) MAC1105 links to the Pearson portal d) Use your Username & Password to sign in e) Click on your MML course card

4) Take HW Quiz 1 (Policies), if you have not done so already (due 9/4 @ midnight); it has 12 questions on class policies and MML. You must take this quiz before taking Lab Quiz 1.

5) Take HW Quiz 2 (R.4), if you have not done so already, at least once (due 9/6 @ midnight). It has the same type of questions as Lab Quiz 1 and you have 3 attempts on HW quizzes but only one attempt on Lab quizzes. Think of it as a practice lab quiz.

Attendance

§ Attendance is REQUIRED for this class. § Attendance will be taken using Learning Catalytics. Since Catalytics is accessed online, you

will need an Internet capable device for class. § Earn points to boost your Quiz Average. At the end of the semester, your percentage of

MML-LC points will be multiplied by 150 and added to your Quiz grades (Lab Quiz & HW Quiz).

§ Excused absences include illness, deaths in the family, other documented crises, call to active military duty or jury duty, religious holy days, and official University activities. Family events do not count as an excused absence.

§ I do not monitor lecture absences, only LAB absences need documentation. § YOU MUST PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION THAT INCLUDES DATE(S) OF LAB

ABSENCES. § Everyone will be given 8 Learning Catalytic points to cover up to 4 lecture class absences

(excused or not) or days when your phone battery dies, etc. NO further allowance will be made, unless you have an extended illness that causes you to miss more than 4 lecture class days.

• We will begin using Learning Catalytics in lecture class on Wednesday, August 29. • We will have three trial runs for you to work out any communication issues with

Calculator Policy

o The only authorized calculator allowed during quizzes and tests is the calculator available on the lab computer (Mac Computer).

o For work done outside of the labs, feel free to use a scientific calculator. The

calculator on an iPhone is virtually identical to the calculator in the labs. No Need to use a graphing calculator, keystrokes are not the same as the scientific calculator.

Make-up Policy

• Quizzes and Tests are not given early and must be taken during your Lab Class section time.

• For excused absences you must provide documentation including date of absence.

• Family functions and non-university activities are not excused.

• If you miss a test and the absence is:

o Excused, then you will need to meet with me to schedule a make-up Test o Unexcused, then your Final Exam score minus a 20-point penalty will be assigned

to the missed test.

• If you miss a quiz and the absence is: o Excused, then your corresponding test score will be assigned to the missed quiz. o Unexcused, a grade of ZERO will be assigned to the missed quiz.

No makeup quizzes are given. No quiz or test grade will be dropped.

SDRC Students

If you have your accommodations form from the SDRC, you need to meet with me in my office to arrange your accommodations. I plan to be in my office all day Tuesday or you may email me to set up an appointment. Your accommodations will not be applicable until you have met with me. After that meeting it will take about a week for accommodations to begin. The first Lab Quiz is Tuesday 9/4, the day after Labor Day Holiday. If you do not yet have your accommodation form from the SDRC, you need to get one from them ASAP and then meet with me. I cannot allow you accommodations until I have the form from SDRC.
