To our esteemed readers, we are back again after a short lull. Our short break was for your best interest; we took a retreat to organise a few things on our menu, so that when we come, we comewith flare and gusto, the full Monty. We are soon becoming a fully-fledged monthly … and wait, not only that! We are also going regional—heading for wider East African readers. We are all over Dar’s stalls and street vendors, now you will find us in Kampala, Nairobi, Kigali and Bujumbura. That is MAN Magazine for you, Legends in Motion. Embrace for the best.

As usual, we never disappoint(readers, these are your own words—for you have always bestowed upon us gratitude). As a publication with a relatively short history and tall commitment to deliver, in this edition, we feature, none other than, Dr. Sebastian Ndege, a leader in manyaspects. An insurance broker guru in his own right—both at the helm of Ndege Insurance Brokers and President of Tanzania Insurance Brokers Association—you find Seba (as he is commonly called in some warmly casual circles) very inspiring in every bit. From his candour, versatility, and, of course, hard work, you will find in him an irresistible role model. You don’t necessarily need to be a C.E.O. like he is, but you can understand all the values he upholds, inculcate them into your best, in every situation, at every place, and at every stage of life. The ideals he espouses have a wider universal appeal.Surely, you will find the interview a page-turner.

In our Features section, we serve you with saucy stories that will boggle your mind. In the relationship section, do not miss reading our well-researched article on why men shouldn’t blame their women, when they fail to rise to occasion! Since the writer is an honest man, his article is from the horse’s mouth. No more blame games.

A must read is the article on getting our grips with the bittersweet fact that, while mobile phones have tremendously simplified our lives

on one hand, they are also responsible for the rapidly increasing male impotence. They may be one of the major causesas to why you are doing badly between the sheets! The article does not leave you hanging; pardon the pun, but indulges you with preventive methods. While the phone story may worry you, there is consolation in the piece on how to increase you sperm count once you’ve sorted the impotence problem. Hint: Not all foods are good for you.

Before I roll on, don’t forget Christine Chacha’s ego-shattering piece on how women fake orgasms. This is an act by some women who feel the need to pretend having orgasms without actually experiencing one. Before you rush to pass a harsh judgement on them, first get to understand the motives behind. Since it is from a woman’s perspective, there should be light at the end of the tunnel for us guys who think we are gods gift to a very happy woman. But what I can tell you is that this act is as old as the Roman Empire. Ovid, a roman poet recommends in his book Ars Amatoria that women should fake orgasms.

In our Finance section, you get a glimpse of Facebook in a different light altogether. Yah, Facebook! While you spend a lot of time schmoozing with friends and acquaintances, getting the latest gossips, from friends and foes, there are others who have utilised this social network to earnbig bucks to their bank accounts. Talk about ingenious ways to earn while you sit behind a desk, effective work versus hardwork.

At this juncture, I can only say that I have given you a morsel to tease your taste buds, however be rest assured that the magazine is fully packed. From Parenting to Nutrition, Career to Lifestyle and Life Tips, you will find something worth your while and succulent enough to keep your senses enticed to the last page. Azim Jamal’s “Going with the flow.” is inspiring too, if you get my drift.

Hello, My name is Kuljeet Dhani and I recently spotted an advertisement for a Creative Writer position in the February 2011 edition of ‘Man’ magazine. I am writing to enquire about this opportunity, as I would be very much interested in it. My husband is an avid reader and I, too, have often been fascinated and intrigued by many of the features you have run. ‘Man’ magazine is a pioneer and certainly sets the African bar high for others in its field and I would love to be involved in its publications. Although I have no professional experience in creative writing, I feel I have several other unique credentials that I could bring to the magazine. I am a qualified pharmacist from Great Britain and have been residing in Tanzania for two years. I have a natural flair for writing and I believe that I am a very creative, imaginative and broad-minded individual. My wide English vocabulary is one of my greatest strengths and I had often been encouraged by my teachers and professors to pursue writing as a career. I have long been searching for the perfect opportunity and I feel that this could be it. Please contact me with further details regarding this position. I can also be reached on +255789028983. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Your sincerely,Mrs. K. Dhani, MPharmS

Gadgetsto watch out for

Gadget Review By Michael Kagumya

2010 was full of memorable gadgets. You might remember the iPhone 4? How about the HTC EVO 4G? You also might recall a little something called the iPad? And coming up here, we’ll also see the release of the Android 2.2-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab on all four major U.S. carriers.

Windows 7 Phone. These phones came out in 2010, but more models are coming out, especially if sales of current versions are good, Scarsella said. Success will depend on size and quality of apps in their new app market and new hardware across carriers in the U.S., he said.

Acer Iconia Tab W500 Can a Windows 7 tablet with keyboard replace the netbook?Tablet or notebook? It’s a question not only for the new Acer Iconia Tab W500, but for anyone looking to buy a new portable PC at the moment.Tablets are clearly all the rage; you only need to look at the excitement surrounding the launch of the Apple iPad 2. Many perceive these tablets as holding the key to moving mobile computing forward.

The problem is, tablets aren’t particularly productive devices. They’re about watching movies or listening to music. They’re about surfing the web on your sofa, or reading a book in a hammock. Tablets are about entertainment. They’re rarely about actually creating the content that they are consuming. Anyone looking to do work or create content on the move is generally limited to using a standard computer.

Fijistu Lifebook X2You can alter it, make it more durable, and improve upon it, but its form remains the same. It’s slim, it folds and it fits into a small bag. These wouldn’t be astounding attributes for a gadget except that we are talking of a laptop here. Park Hyun Jin has designed a Fijistu Lifebook X2 to do what other laptops don’t—close in quarters and reduce itself to a conveniently tiny size for small carry bags. Folded, the clam shell hides the fact that it a laptop. Fully opened, the clickpad, screen and physical keypad stand exposed. Fujistu is yet to bring the machine into the market, however. Such innovative designing may cheer notebook users,

but will it wean the public away from the tablets?

Beats by Dre headphonesIt’s not always easy to get excited about a pair of headphones on first glance. Generally, the listening experience, which is gathered only after putting a set on and sitting down with some favorite music, is what draws people in. Not so with the Monster Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, a sweet-looking set that will relieve you of $350. While their sound quality is nothing to scoff at, their appeal as eye-candy is undeniable. For audio enthusiasts who are tired of the same old look, the Beats are a must.
