ABOUT THIS COURSE

We currently live in a world filled with more uncertainty than ever before. We are flooded with information that can be overwhelming. This course aims to provide skills and capabilities to assist risk executives in making decisions based on good data, using the futures thinking methodology, scenario planning.

This course offers a compelling and unique training opportunity that combines scenario planning methodologies with smart data literacy. This package is designed exclusively for IRMSA and not currently offered by any other training body in South Africa.

This course will assist in developing skills and capabilities to leverage 'smart' data and scenario planning methodologies to enhance the risk identification and assessment process.

Doris Viljoen is a senior futurist at the University of Stellenbosch Business School’s Institute for Futures Research (IFR) where she endeavours to interpret global as well as local trends and assess their relevance for South Africa and Africa. She has specialised skills in environmental scanning, the application of foresight methodology, scenario planning as well as strategy development.Before joining the IFR, Doris did consulting work on feasibility and location assessment studies for large capital projects and received the top student award on the M.Phil Futures Studies programme. She is well versed in multiple scenario planning techniques and has facilitated decision making teams through scenario exercises on topics ranging from infrastructure planning, higher education, and downstream metals beneficiation to the future of work in South Africa.

Barend Lutz is the CEO and Co-Founder of VoxCroft Analytics; an open-source intelligence and risk analytics tech startup providing the fastest and most reliable insight on critical security threats and changing global dynamics through a blend of artificial intelligence, data science, and unparalleled human expertise. With the support of his dedicated team he has guided the business from its inception to a profitable and growing global enterprise. Barend formerly worked for the US government as an open-source intelligence / data expert, where he explored how big data and machine learning can further the fields of political / security risk analysis, democratic theory and media studies. He graduated cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch / Sciences-Po grande école and is a member of the Transformation Research Unit (TRU).

• Track issues of interest using different techniques (source discovery and assessment, identifying lists of key influencers, indicators and warnings)

Payment:

IRMSA must receive payment or an approved and signed Purchase Order prior to the training.

Full payment must be received two weeks prior to the course. Proof of payment must be emailed to [email protected].

Cancellation:

Should a delegate wish to cancel, this must be done in writing to [email protected] no later than 7 working days prior to the training course. A R1 190.00 Exclude VAT cancellation fee will apply.

• Delegates who cancel their registration inwriting after 7 working days will be personallyliable for the full fee.

• Substitutions may be made at no additional cost.• Delegates will be personally liable for the

payment of the full registration fee in the eventof non-attendance or failure to cancel in writingprior to the deadline of 7 working days.

Dietary requirements received 3 days prior to the commencement of training can be accommodated.
