Chapter 8 Managing Deployments Scheduling a New Live Event Deployment

Figure 8-7 Deployment List After a Deployment Completes

Scheduling a New Live Event DeploymentConducting a complete live online event involves four different offerings to be published in sequential order within the DMS:

1. Pre-event listing: Intended to notify Video Portal end users of the upcoming live event.

2. Live event: Actual live offering.

3. Post-event listing: Intended to notify Video Portal end users who missed the live event that it has concluded and is no longer available.

4. On-demand offering: Recorded version of the live-event for Video Portal end users who were not able to attend the live version.

The following sections explain how to set up the deployment of your live event in the DMM with respect to these four offerings.

Scheduling a Pre-Event Listing

Note Prior to scheduling your pre-event listing for deployment, ensure that your Video Part metadata is set appropriately for a pre-event listing.

To schedule a pre-event listing, follow these steps:

Step 1 Set the Launch Date and Time for the date and time at which you would like for your pre-event listing to appear.

Step 2 Click on the Create Deployment button to schedule the Deployment.

Chapter 8 Managing Deployments Scheduling a New Live Event Deployment

The new Deployment you just scheduled appears in the Currently Scheduled Deployments list in chronological order based on the scheduled deployment Date and Time.

Note If you scheduled an immediate Deployment, DISABLE YOUR POP-UP BLOCKER before you click on Create Deployment. A small progress pop-up window opens indicating that the Deployment is in progress. This window closes when the Deployment is complete. If you do not disable the pop-up blocker, your Deployment may encounter errors and you may have to re-deploy your content.

Upon deployment, all files to be published are deployed to their respective Deployment Locations as specified in the Configuration Manager tab of the DMM. After a Deployment has occurred, it disappears from the Currently Scheduled Deployments list.

Your pre-event listing appears as a regular offering within the Video Portal. When an end user initiates the playback function for your pre-event listing, the user will be presented with the static image, audio, or video file that you published containing the live event announcement and details.

Scheduling a Live EventTo schedule a live event, follow these steps:

Note Prior to scheduling your live event for deployment, ensure that your Video Part metadata is set appropriately for the live event.

Step 1 Follow Steps 1-8 in the Scheduling a New Deployment section.

Set the Launch Date and Time for the date and time at which you would like your live event to be accessible in the Video Portal.

Note It is common practice to publish the live stream 10-15 minutes prior to the event start time. The pre-event live stream is normally music accompanied with a countdown to the live event. At the event start time, the music is replaced with the event audio/video stream. If you choose to deliver the live event stream to a different URL reference, you must make those modifications in the Video Part metadata and schedule those changes to publish in a separate, subsequent deployment.

Step 2 Click on the Create Deployment button to schedule the Deployment.

Scheduling a Post-Event Listing

Note Prior to scheduling your post-event listing for deployment, ensure that your Video Part metadata is set appropriately for a post-event listing.

Follow Steps 1-8 in the Scheduling a New Deployment section.

Step 1 Set the Launch Date and Time for the date and time at which you would like for your post-event listing to appear.

Click on the Create Deployment button to schedule the Deployment.

Upon deployment, all files to be published are deployed to their respective Deployment Locations as specified in the SETUP module of the DMM. After a Deployment has occurred, it disappears from the Currently Scheduled Deployments list.

Your post-event listing appears as a regular offering within the Video Portal. When an end user initiates the playback function for your post-event listing, the user will be presented with the static image, audio, or video file that you published containing the conclusion of the live event and details of the upcoming on-demand offering.

Scheduling an On-Demand Deployment

Note Prior to scheduling your On-Demand Video for deployment, ensure that your Video Part metadata is set appropriately for an On-Demand Live Event recorded video.

To schedule an on-demand deployment, follow these steps:

Step 1 Follow Steps 1-8 in the Scheduling a New Deployment section.

Step 2 Set the Launch Date and Time for the date and time at which you would like for your On-Demand Live Event recorded video to appear.

Step 3 Click on the Create Deployment button to schedule the Deployment.

The new Deployment you just scheduled appears in the Currently Scheduled Deployments list in chronological order based on the scheduled deployment Date and Time.
