Managing the Slide Gallery on SharePoint Homepages
1. Must Create a publisher file template with the specific size of 8.333’ x 4.323’
Download Template Here (after downloading, must save and rename on your PC)
2. Be sure that your publisher file has no margins and feel free to add a background color
Page Design> Margins> None
3. You can also add a solid color background to the template:
Page Design> Backgrounds> More Backgrounds> Solid Fill> Pick Color> Click Ok
2
4. Now that you have your template with the background color of your choice, you can add your
photo, slide, or other image:
Insert> Pictures> Choose file> Click Insert
3
5. You can now resize and center your image, remember to always pull form the corners and not
the center to maintain image ratio:
4
6. Once you have your image sized and positioned where you want it, you can now save the file, it
must be saved as a .jpeg
File> Save As> Select JPEG File Interchange Format> Then hit Save
7. Now we can upload the image into SharePoint. To do so, you must be signed-in. Go to the top of
your homepage and follow steps below:
5
Must be Signed-in> Site Actions> View All Site Content
>Click on Slide Photo Gallery
6
Click Upload> Choose File> Select File> Ok
8. Once photo uploads, before we simply hit save and go on, we must click on the image within this
box, which will bring it up into a new browser window. From the browser window, you must then
copy the URL address, then you can go back and save:
7
Copy the URL Address
9. You can now close this browser window, and now back on the previous screen, you can choose
to title your image and provide a description, both of which are optional, and then click save
10. After saving, go back to ‘Site Actions’ and go down to ‘View All Site Content’
8
11. Now go to the ‘Content Slider’ library under Picture Libraries:
12. Once the library opens, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click ‘Add new item’
9
13. When box opens, you have to do several things from here: Name the photo in the title section,
and then delete the http:// under the web address section:
14. Now, under the Web Address section, right click and paste the URL that we copied earlier, then
you can add a caption or slide text that will show up when it is on your site (optional) and click
save at bottom.
10
15. Now, technically the process is complete, however if you go to your homepage and see that the
photo is not appearing, like in the screen shot below, you have to do one additional step, this
issue occurs for some users not all.
16. Go back to ‘Site Actions’ and then ‘View All Site Content’ and then go to the ‘Content Slider’
library
11
17. Now find the photo that is not showing up properly, and click on the arrow next to it, follow by
‘Edit Item’
18. Now, if you look under the ‘Description’ section, you will notice that the URL has been copied
there as well, it must be deleted.
12
19. Now, type in a brief description in the box, and then hit ‘Save’, the photo should now appear on
your home page
