One way you can find your files is by using the search box on the start menu.
To access the start menu, simply click the windows start button on the bottomleft of your screen.

Type in a word or part of a word in the search box. As you type, itemsthat match your text will appear on the start menu.
This is very similar to searching with Windows Vista

Another way to find your files is by opening the start menu, and clicking on the Computer option.
This will take you to a screen with options on the left-hand side allowing you to browse through your computer.

Your files will be located under the “Libraries” folder. Within the folder your files are separated depending on what type of file they are. Those being, Document files,Music files, Picture files, and Video files.
You can also use the “Search Libraries” bar at the top right of the window to find yourFiles which is equivalent to using the search bar directly off the start menu.

Adding Folders to Library
Open the Documents library by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Documents. In the library pane (above the file list), next to Includes, click Locations.
In the Documents Library Locations dialog box, click Add.
Click the folder or drive containing documents, click Include folder, and then click OK
This can be convenient if you store your documents inOther locations rather than your Public Document Folders.

Viewing and Arranging Files
When you open a folder you have the ability to change how the Files look in the window. To make these changes use theViews button in the tool bar
You can then cycle througheach option (picture on right) and watch it change how it displays your files.

Copying and Moving Files
A common way to copy and/or move files is drag-and-drop. First, youopen up the folder that has the file you want to copy. Next, open thefolder that you want the file to be in. Position the windows side by side,according to picture, below then simply click and hold the button while youdrag the file then release the button when you get to the destination folder.

Visual Comparison to Vista
Windows 7 Windows Vista
The “My Computer” screen, where you can view files, is not much different from Windows Vista. One thing that is improved on Windows 7 is the pane on the leftside. It is more visual, and a little more organized.
