O TIMELESS

Imagine yourself sitting in your clinic or in front of your computer 10 years from now. Facebook might have become obsolete. Those photos, those timeline posts, those videos that you shared--gone. But you remember that you have your yearbook, lying beside your old untouched Campbell and Ciccarelli, gathering dust. Your sablay photo, your creative shot and your write-up are intact. Noth-ing has changed, because unlike anything online, our yearbook will be timeless.

time•less ’ tīmlis/adjectivenot affected by the passage of time or changes in fashion

This theme will preserve what has to be preserved. With this, we are going simple and minimalistic, avoiding all the fads and frivolities--only retaining the impression your stay here has left you. We want to focus on you as a college student, the important life events you had here, and the peo-ple you spent the pastfew years with. Mandala XV will immortalize who you are at present (and hopefully not an embarrassing creative photo).

Sept. 9-12

Sample photos from two studios will be post-ed for a whole week, starting September 9, 2014. You will be asked to vote for your studio of choice. The decision will be based on the batch’s vote (70%) and the EB’s choice (30%).Please drop by the Man-dala tambayan to vote. Ballots will be left on the table. Please make sure to sign the control sheet after voting. You may only vote once.

After we have chosen our studio, we will be posting sign up sheets for the shoots on our bulletin board. Sign-ups will be strictly on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis. There will be 3-4 days dedi-cated for the shoots, and you may only sign up for one. If you decide to change your schedule to a day with an available slot, please talk to an EB member first. Sign up sheets will be mon-itored. Sign-ups will be from Sept. 23, 10AM to Sept. 25, 5:30PM. The cut-off for sign-ups will be strictly followed.

There are different pack-ages available for the photos. Before paying, choose the package you want. You will have to indicate this once you pay.The Marketing and Fi-nance committee will take care of payments. Certain members of the committee will be as-signed to transact with you. Please do not pay to anyone besides the people assigned. The list of people authorized to receive payments will be posted online and on the Mandala bulletin board.Payments are due a week before your sched-uled shoot.

Do I have to write my own write-up?

How long should my write-up be?Your write-up should be around 400-550 CHARACTERS (W/O SPACES), with 400 being the minimum. Don’t let it go over the limit – there is a specific format and layout that can only accommodate that much.

What’s in a write-up?

As free as you are to include anything in your write-up, how-ever, you still have to keep it clean. NO FOUL LANGUAGE, OFFENSIVE CONTENT, OR INAPPROPRIATE SLANG –

anything not fit for a yearbook, in general.

A write-up can consist of anything you want, basically! Tell sto-ries, share your most memorable experience, describe your sig-nificant achievements and realizations, make known your pro-found ideas – there isn’t any limit! You’re encouraged to make it as creative and interesting as you want. You may submit your write-ups in either ENGLISH or FILIPI-NO, with proper grammar and syntax. No Taglish please!

You may, but you don’t have to! You’re free to ask someone else to write it for you, if you think s/he knows you best enough, anyway! You may also opt to ask your friends to write about you and then combine them into one piece - what’s important is that you submit a final write-up that you feel reflects you best.

What SHOULDN’T be in a write-up?

What happens if I don’t submit a write-up?A blank space wouldn’t look good in the yearbook, and in order to ensure all of you submit a write-up of your own, we will be filling empty spaces with SONG LYRICS OF OUR CHOICE.

(OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE

PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR WRITE-UP CONTAINING ALL THIS INFORMATION TO [email protected] with the format

LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME.doc (ex. MEDINA_KARA.doc).

B S P SYCH O LO G Y

(If you don’t submit a write-up, we will fill up the empty space with song lyrics just like this.) Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do. Yeah, they were all yellow. I came along, I wrote a song for you, and all the things you do. And it was called “Yellow”. So then I took my turn, oh what a thing to have done, and it was all yellow. Your skin, oh yeah your skin and bones, turn into something beautiful. You know, you know I love you so. I swam across, I jumped across for you, oh what a thing to do. ‘Cause you were all yellow. I drew a line, I drew a line for you, oh what a thing to do. And it was all yellow.

WRITE-UP

Page 6: Mandala XV Primer

Toga ShotFor females: You’re allowed to wear anything (except tops with very high necklines) under the toga, as long as you’re comfortable in it! For males: Please wear a long-sleeved polo, preferably in a pastel or light color. Bring a tie that will match your polo. Please avoid ties with loud prints and very bright colors.

Sablay ShotFor females: Please wear a tube top or bandeau, preferably in white or black. You may bring your own Filipiniana (top) if you do not want to wear the one provided by the selected studio. For males: Please wear a plain white shirt. You may bring your own barong (top) if you do not want to wear the one provided by the selected studio.

Creative ShotIn line with our timeless theme, our creative shots will be more of a casual shot with a plain white background. You may wear anything you like—you can dress up more than usual, or you can wear what you normally do, as long as it is presentable (ex. something you’d wear to the mall or a Sunday lunch with relatives)! You are highly recommended to dress up from head to toe. You may also bring props or accessories, such as sports equipment, headphones, etc. or anything you can casually pose with. You are not required to avail of this shot when you pick a grad photo package, but you are HIGHLY REC-OMMENDED to do so. We will use this type of shot in our yearbook. If you do not avail it, we will place your toga shot on your page.

*~Creative Shot~*You may have had more artsy, cre-ative, all-out bongga shots before or have seen them in previous graduating batches and you want your own this year as well. Don’t worry, there will also be a package that will include this option! There will be no rules on this one, and you can wear/bring whatev-er you like. Costumes and props will also be available on the studio. You are not required to avail of this shot when you pick a grad photo pack-age. If you do, #3 will still be used for your page on our yearbook

Other Questions & ConcernsSteps on where to go, how to pose, and how to choose your prints will be announced later on! For now, your only task is to VOTE for a studio next week.
