10 Student feedback mechanism on Institutional Governance/faculty performance:

Feedback / Evaluation of teachers by students are conducted online by students after the end of each class test / semester. The feedback / evaluation contain a) items on faculty’s teaching effectiveness & b) feedback on various infrastructural facilities. Additionally a drop box is provided near Director’s office in which students can freely voice their opinions without disclosing identity if they wish on any matter pertaining to the Institute.

11 Grievance redressal mechanism for faculty, staff and students

The Institute has constituted a Grievance Redressal Committee as per the guidelines issued by AICTE. The aggrieved parties are free to approach the committee for Redressal of their grievances. Additionally regular Staff meetings are held in which staff members can freely voice their grievances, suggestions, etc. on academic or administrative matters before the Director / the Principal.

Conference in cooperation with other departments, STTPs, University Orientation Programmes and Technical workshops. Many teachers have presented papers in International Journals / Conferences. One student secured 3rd rank in University for the examinations held in April / May, 2012 The department has successfully conducted an IEEE approved International conference (CSCITA-2014). The department has also organized and participated in MHRD sponsored-IIT conducted workshops on topics like Pedagogy, Analog Electronics, Signals and Systems, Control Systems, etc. A one week ISTE approved STTP on ‘Mathematical and Computational Techniques in Engineering’ and one day University orientation programme for the subject of “Circuits and Transmission Lines” was organized by the department. Seven of our staff members are pursuing ME while two of them are pursuing PhD under faculty improvement programme and two of them have successfully completed their PhD.

Consultancy activities: In coherence with the Training and Placement cell,

various initiatives are being undertaken along with industries (Campus Connect with “Infosys” being one of them). R&D lab is being set up so that consultancy projects may be undertaken in future.

Staff have pursued M.E. under faculty improvement programme and successfully completed it. Department has conducted ISTE Approve STTP on “Image Processing Application: Basics to Advanced” in Jan 2010. Two students have secured first and third rank respectively in the University for the Exams conducted in April / May, 2012. Programme has been accredited by NBA from August 2012 - August 2014. PG course has been started from 2012 onwards. For past two yrs results of Ist year has been 100%. One student secured 2nd rank in University in the examinations held in April / May, 2013 Two of our students were part of a of a team that made it to the top 12 teams worldwide in the 2014 MakerFaire Mars Rover Competition in Paris, France. Professional Society Memberships: Teachers are members of various professional societies like IEEE (Institution of Electrical & Electronics Engineers), ISTE (Institution of Society of Technical Education) and CSI (Computer Society of India)

Programmes are organized and conducted for teaching staff and students by professional personnel.

Consultancy activities: Currently, the department is interacting with

various IT industries in co-ordination with Training & Placement department which could result in helping the department to get projects and consulting for its staff.

Grants fetched: NIL Departmental Achievements: The department organizes and conducts ISTE

approved Short Term Technical Programmes. Consistently achieved more than 90% pass percentage in last three years in the Final Year Engineering. Students regularly participate in national event i.e. Robocon in which they design & develop Robots based on themes of the competition. One student has secured 5th rank in the University for the Exams held in May/June, 2013

Students are consistently getting placement in top companies such as MAQ, TCS, Capegemini, Infosys, L& T Infotech etc.

Students of the department participated in the National Robotics competition ABU_ROBOCON 2014, held in Balewadi sports complex at pune from 6th of March to 8th of March 2014 as part of SFIT ROBOCON team.

A three days’ workshop on “Web App Development using Liberty Profile” in association with IBM was organized for staff and students by IT Students Association on 12th Feb, 22nd Feb and 15th march 2014.

Students of IT department Kartik Haritha, Lidiya D’Souza, Akshata Shetty, Aakriti Tulsiyan and Neil Rego secured the project from persistent Systems. Ms. Joanne Gomes has received a Research Grant of Rs. 25,000 from Mumbai University in November 2013. Mr. Mahesh Mali won Faculty Excellence Award 2013 at Infosys Ltd. Pune DC for innovative methods of teaching in technical subjects.

Ms. Himani Desai achieved 5th rank in Mumbai University in Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology in year 2013. Ms. Shanu Salunkhe 0f 2013 batch got admission in Georgia Institute of technology which is among world’s top rank universities. Mr. Nikhil Kadam and Mr. Devansh Jani secured 3rd place (Bronze medal) in Mumbai University Inter-collegiate Chess Tournament 2013-14, which was held in August 2013. Mr. Bhanu Jalan, the student of 2014 batch has developed an android game “TAPY”, which has gained a lot of popularity and is available on Android Play store. Mr. Chirag Lathigara, the student of 2014 batch was selected as member for Microsoft student partner initiative. Mr. Clinton D’cunha, the student of 2014 batch is associated with internationally recognized band.

The college publishes technical magazine “SANSHODHAN” twice in an academic year, containing technical papers and articles by the staff and students.

Technical activities / Tech Fest: MOSAIC an Inter/Intra college technical festival (2 days) and “MINDS’ EYE” a project showcase in which papers are presented by students of different colleges, are hosted by our college every year.

Industrial Visits / Tours: Various students’ chapters such as CSI, IEEE, ISTE, IEEE etc. regularly organize industrial visits / tours to different parts of the country during the vacation period.

Alumni activities: Seminars and lectures are organized with the

help of the members of the Alumni Association to guide the students to perform better in the selection process.
