NEW TEMPLE UPDATE

Great news: We are striving in negotiating the construction contract in November 2013 and fulfilling our goal to finalize the contract and have commencement of work in this month. In past several months, Hindu Temple construction team members have worked diligently in over-coming on several challenges. They have constant thrived towards meeting goals and objec-tives. I am very excited that dream of building Hindu Temple is not too far from becoming real-ity. Architects are working very hard to get the Building permit. We are very close in accom-plishing this goal as well. We are working with all appropriate personnel and Banks, to get the line of credit for seam-less completion of this project in a timely manner. Very soon, we will have very tangible costs for each component of the temple. Again, thank you for your patience and I assure you that we are not too far to have one of the best Hindu Temple build in the United States.

We have been fortunate to have participated in this sacred and once in a lifetime opportunity of

building our dream temple.

Financial Update for New Temple:

Hinduism –105 Mita Mukherjee

My previous article Hinduism 104, was based on “thoughts” and continuing on the same thought provoking ideas, I am basing this article on the mind and thoughts also. As I have said before, thoughts are like magnets; like a powerful magnet, our thoughts draw different circumstances and different types of people to us. There is a saying, “birds of feather flock together”. I believe it is everyone’s experience that one feels drawn to certain people, and when they get to know each other, they find they have similar tastes and ideas in common and they develop a rapport with each other. I have noticed that people who predict doom and gloom end up having dire lives, while joyous people have contented lives, whatever comes their way they roll with the punches and come out joyful. If a person is bent on making money, they will somehow make money; a power hungry man will go after power! So whatever thoughts drive a person, such they become. On the other hand, one may find certain people totally out of their liking, not that they are awful or horrible but one just does not feel comfortable to be with them---the thoughts and ideas do not match. No wonder we have so many parties, sects and religions. If only we were united with one goal in mind—“universal betterment, universal peace, a sense of contentment and unity among all human beings—the world would be a wonderful place to live in. Our sages and rishis have tried to impart this information in our texts like the Bhagavat Gita. It is possible only when the universal consciousness goes towards this one thought—peace and wellbeing for all and this is possible only when each and every one of us have this single thought in mind and act without selfishness in promoting it. We have all noticed that famous people who made a difference in the world had one thought in mind and they believed in it so strongly that they gave up their own selfish wants to fight for it, examples are Gandhiji, Swami Vivekananda , Sai baba, and many more! There are many mahatmas who have showed us the way. We in our small way can little by lit-tle change the mass consciousness by thinking good thoughts, loving thoughts, and peaceful thoughts, and acting on these thoughts, by providing a helping hand.(seva) I fully believe that negative circumstances can provoke all kinds of negative emotions like, an-ger, jealousy, lust, despair, etc, however if we are ever vigilant and aware of these thoughts arising in our bosom, we can try to let go and channel these thoughts into more positive chan-

Volume 17 No. 3 1 December 2013 Mandir Vani Page 8

nels. “Being aware” is the first step towards recognizing which way the thoughts are going, and then harnessing the power of the mind to change the direction, as surely as a captain steers the ship in the right direction, is the next step.

Slowly but surely we will change ourselves, and in the process change the world—because

thoughts are like magnets—one good thought will attract another—soon the world will be a

happier place in which, we can fulfill our life’s journey.
