NSW Schools’ Cup

Congratulations to our 7/8 Boys Netball Team who dominated the boys netball division at the Netball Schools’ Cup held last Thursday. The boys were undefeated in their small pool of competitors. The boys won by at least 10 points each game and played O'Connor Catholic School and Glenn Innes High. The boys were commended by Netball NSW for their netball skills and sportsmanship both on and off the court. We wish the boys luck at the next level to be held in Tamworth, mid-July. A special mention to our 7/8 Girls team, coached by Ashley Arnold, who also competed on the day against some high class teams hailing from around the region including, Armidale and Glenn Innes. The girls, unfortunately, are not progressing through. However they had a great day and their skills improved significantly across the day. A special thanks must go to Tara-Lee Moon and Carrigan Jones for umpiring the games at a high standard, again carnival officials impressed at the skill, knowledge of the rules and professionalism our young umpires demonstrated. The Year 5/6 primary girls netball team also competed on the day. Only one other school entered in the competitive division, which means our team is through to the Regional Carnival to be held early next term. The team, however, participated in the non-competitive division and won 4 out of 4 games. The girls should be very proud of the way they played, as well as the level of sportsmanship they displayed. Well done girls.

Art of Leadership

Mrs Ferguson along with eighty other school leaders will be gathering in Tamworth this week in order to attend the ‘Art of Leadership’ course. This is a great opportunity for Mrs Ferguson and our school as ‘The Art of Leadership’ course enables the participants to develop their leadership skills, efficacy and ability to support teacher development and student achievement. The participants will also expand their understanding of leadership and explore multiple approaches for addressing leadership challenges.

The Shoehorn Sonata

Mrs Wilkinson and Mr Windred are taking nine students to Sydney today to see the play ‘The Shoehorn Sonata’ at the Giant Dwarf Theatre in Redfern as a component of their HSC Standard English course. They left the school at 5.50 a.m. and headed towards their accommodation at the Sydney Harbour YMCA at The Rocks. It is sure to be an educationally enjoyable excursion.

K/1S Assembly

K/1S ran their first assembly for the year (for some, it was their first one). The students did a fantastic job, speaking confidently to the school. The school and parents were entertained by a poem called ‘5 A Day Vegetables’. K/1S have been learning about healthy lifestyles. They educated the audience on the importance of exercise, drinking plenty of water and healthy eating. Well done K/1S.

Parent On-line Payment

From 13th May, 2016, it will be possible for parents to make online payments to the school for amounts owing for students, via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac. Payments can be made using either a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card. The payment page is accessed from the front page of the schools website by selecting ‘$ Make a payment’. Items that can be paid include voluntary school contributions, subject contributions, excursions, sales to students and creative and practical arts activities (these include band, drama and dance). There is also a category called ‘Other’ for items not covered in the previous headings, ‘Other’ can be used to make a complete payment of a school invoice. When you access the ‘$ Make a payment’ you must enter: • The student’s name • Date of birth • Payer details • Payment description These details are entered each time you make a payment as student information is not held within the payment system. There is also the option to enter the Student Registration Number and Invoice number if you are aware of them, these are optional. This is a secure payment system hosted by Westpac to ensure that your credit/debit card details are captured in a secure manner, these details are not passed back to the school. You have the ability to check and change any details of the payment before the payment is processed. Receipts can be emailed and/or printed. We anticipate that this payment option should make it easier for you to make payments to the school. Information is available at the school offices.
