Welcome to the Continuing Education Department at Manor College. We offer non-credit classes, online courses, and certificate programs that are accessible, affordable, and convenient. Gain more confidence and sharpen your skills. Whether you seek to augment your career, prepare for a career change, or earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs), Manor’s Continuing Education Department can help.

Admission to the college is not required for any Continuing Ed. classes; simply register and pay.

All Computer Training workshops run from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Textbooks are purchased on the first night of class from the instructor.

Intro to Personal Computers Take this hands-on introductory seminar to discover the world of computers. You will learn the basics and background of personal computers and computer terminology, the uses for a computer, essential commands and how to navigate the Windows operating system.

Mondays, January 6 - January 20 • $140

Intro to Windows 7 This introductory hands-on seminar will teach you how to identify Windows ele-ments within the Windows 7 operating system. Topics include: starting a pro-gram, working with a window, working with files and folders and basic Windows 7 applications.

Intro to Windows 8New to Windows 8? This introductory hands-on seminar will teach you how to navigate and utilize the Windows 8 operating system. Topics include: navigation, starting a program, working with windows, working with files and folders and basic Windows 8 applications.

Microsoft Word 2013, An IntroductionParticipants will learn how to use the new features in Word 2013. Students will create and edit documents, save, open or close documents and apply formatting options such as setting tabs, indents, and change view modes. Students will also manipulate text using features such as copy and paste, etc.

Microsoft Word 2013, Beyond the BasicsIn Microsoft Word 2013 Beyond the Basics, participants will learn how to work with templates, create headers and footers, add hyperlinks, use research tools and smart tags, create a mail merger, and send a document electronically.

Microsoft Excel 2013, An IntroductionMicrosoft Excel 2013 Introduction teaches participants how to work with work-sheets and workbooks, create, modify and format worksheets, and create formu-las.

QuickBooks Pro 2012 , An IntroductionQuickBooks Introduction participants will learn how to create a company file, use the help facility for assistance, set up vendors, customers, and employee lists, as well as use forms and registers to process transactions. Participants will learn to make journal entries and work with sales, customer invoices and credit memos.

QuickBooks Pro 2012, Beyond the BasicsQuickBooks Beyond the Basics participants will learn how to work with reports, use the loan manager, set up inventory, create and assemble items, set up petty cash accounts, set up credit card accounts, and work with online banking.

GRAPHIC & WEB DESIGN• Our Adobe Creative Suite 6 workshops are

recommended for anyone who wants to learn new or augment existing skills.

• Software for each course is available through Adobe.com as free 30-day trials for you to access through the Adobe Creative Cloud.

• Students should have a removable Flash drive in class to back up their work.

• All Graphic and Web Design classes run from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

Adobe Photoshop CS6Adobe Photoshop is the design industry standard for digital imaging and creation. This course will cover the Photoshop interface, photo retouching and painting tools as well as image manipulation, retouching and formatting of images for other uses such as print and the web.

Adobe Flash CS6The web standard for advertising and marketing multimedia: This animation tool can easily create complex multimedia animations, simple games, digital video and ad banners for the web. The course covers the basics of animation including sound and interactive using Flash. Convert your animation to multiple platforms including the web and mobile devices.

Adobe InDesign CS6Create professional eye-catching page layout designs for printing or converting into PDF docu-ments. Adobe InDesign is also used to create ads, brochures, and other marketing materials.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS6Learn to create web pages and build web sites with multimedia and interactivity with the easy-to-use graphical editor which creates web-ready content using HTML coding and Cascading Style sheets (CCS). Web safe colors, type and image use will also be taught.

Adobe Acrobat XLearn to create, and revise documents using the popular format called PDF. The course will cover creating and revising your document and its ele-ments including text and images. Learn to use the electronic signature feature and convert your documents to and from Word and PowerPoint.

You will learn the basics and background of personal computers and computer terminology, the many uses for a computer, essential commands and how to navigate in the Windows environment. Internet for SeniorsLearn about how to get hooked up to the internet through a provider (MSN, AOL, Comcast, etc.). Learn about terminology, identifying window elements, using search engines to research information, and exploring features of the web (downloading information and more).

**The Irish in the Civil WarBoth Blue and Gray had a generous touch of green. So why did these men fight and die so bravely in a country that was new to them? And what generals were more gallant than the Union’s Phil Sheridan and the Confederacy’s Pat Cleburne?

**Desperate Measures: Unusual Incidents & Strange Adventures in the Civil WarStrange but true; this axiom was never more relevant than describing many of the unusual and extraordi-nary occurrences during the Civil War. This course concentrates on a significant number of controversial personalities, occurrences and events, and strange and highly unusual incidents that occurred prior to and during the four years of the Civil War.

**Sherman’s March to VictoryFollow General William Tecumseh Sherman’s mighty western army as it fights through Dalton, Resaca, Pickett’s Mill and Kennesaw Mountain, finally to capture Atlanta. Then Sherman breaks loose from his supply line and sweeps along a 60-mile-wide path of destruction, making Georgia howl in what has been called the first modern, total-war strategy. He captures Savannah, the Mother City of Georgia, as a Christmas gift to President Lincoln, proceeds on to Columbia, S.C., and then to the final battle against his wily old foe, General Joseph Johnston, at Bentonville, N.C.

*The Civil War Overview SeriesThe Civil War Series is an overview of the events that led to the war, major battles and the after-effects that still impact our nation today. The war will be examined year by year. This is a program for all ages conducted by a team of experts. It is one you will not want to miss!

**John Brown and Harper’s FerryWhat kind of man was John Brown? What led him to his self-righteous crusade for freedom that involved acts of lawless violence? This course answers these questions and tells of those who helped him, encour-aged him and supported him. It will show how his dream of a slave rebellion ended in his death. John Brown was an important link in the chain of events that led to the Civil War. This course will reveal the man, his mission and his place in American history.

**The Overland Campaign of 1864“Wherever Lee goes, there you will go also.” This was Gen. Grant’s instruction to Gen. Meade in his plan to “hammer continuously against the armed force of the enemy.” This course follows the tactics and battles of the Overland Campaign from May 5 to June 16, 1864, beginning in the Wilderness and culminating with the siege of Petersburg.

Historians and Civil War Buffs: Indulge Your Passion! The Civil War comes to life with diverse and specialized courses that delve deeper than the typical history course would, focusing on more than just names, dates and events.

All courses are taught by members of the Delaware Valley Civil War Round Table.

All Civil War workshops run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Students may take courses independently or enroll in the Civil War Certificate Program. To earn a certificate, you must take eight courses, four must be core courses.

The primary objective is to explain terminology in its proper context, which is the structure and function of the human body in health and disease. Prerequisite: Medical Terminology/A&P Part I.

Medical Billing IUnderstand the entire revenue cycle process, from intake to services provided to appropriate reimbursement. Learn about the CMS-1500 claim form, electronic claims, HIPAA review, fraud and abuse laws, regulations and the NPI enumerator. Prerequisites: Med. Term/Survey of A&P Part I only

Medical Billing IIUnderstand the particular characteristics of each insurance payer and the ap-propriate rules for each claim submission such as Indemnity plans, HMO’s, PPO’s, Worker’s Compensation and the state variances, Medicare, Parts A, B & D as well as nuances of Medicare Secondary Payer program, Medicaid and state-by-state variances. Discuss various disability types of claims, Tricare programs, and Facility (Hospital Billing). You will review the medical billing claim form, CMS-1500. Class includes a hands-on computer lab class to generate an actual claim. Prerequi-sites: Med. Term/Survey of A&P, Part I only, Medical Billing I
