SCHOOL NEWS THANK YOU FROM MR. O’BRIEN: I am sorry to say I will be leaving Manor Woods on May 2nd. I will be going to Baltimore County to serve as their Supervisor of Physical Education. Thank you to everyone in the Manor Woods community for 12 great years. I have enjoyed getting to know all the kids and many of their families. I wish all of you the very best and look forward to a time when our paths will cross again. CONGRATULATIONS TO YUKTHI NARAHARISETTI (first grade) whose poster was chosen as the K-2 prize winner for the HCPSS 2015-16 Choose Civility Poster contest. Yukthi's poster was chosen as the one that best captured the theme, 'Would You Say That to My Face?". Yukthi will be recognized at a reception at the Board of Education meeting on May 12th. Congratulations, Yukthi! FROM THE HEALTH ROOM: Just a reminder, allergy season has arrived. If your child is restricted to stay indoors during recess or Phys Ed class (this includes Field Day), a PHYSICIAN’S NOTE IS REQUIRED stating the dates and the length of time the student is to be excused. Students will need to report to the Health Room during that time frame. Please keep in mind the Health Room is very busy, however, Health Room staff will accommodate space for these students as needed. Please contact the Health Room directly at (410) 313-8326 if you have any questions. FIELD DAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Field Day will be on Friday, May 27th. We are looking to have as many parents help us as possible. This year, volunteers will be responsible for an activity station during each grade’s rotation. Directions will be provided to help volunteers facilitate the stations. If you are available to help us on the 27th, please go to the following link to sign up: HTTP://WWW.TINYURL.COM/MWES-FD16 . Thanks for your help and we look forward to seeing you on May 27th. ORIOLE TICKET VOUCHERS! Need a great gift idea or a few hours of family fun? Manor Woods Elementary is selling vouchers to see the Orioles! Vouchers can be purchased to be used on select dates. You simply exchange the voucher for tickets at the Oriole’s Box Office. Choose a game so it fits everyone’s schedule, you don’t have to commit in advance. The price is perfect at just $15! Even better, our school earns $5 per ticket to put towards staff professional development/appreciation. Tickets will be on sale from April 25th to June 10th. Payment can be sent to your child’s teacher by cash or check made payable to Manor Woods Elementary. We will send vouchers home in sealed envelopes with your student. (flyer attached)
