may find a book you wish to purchase for minimum cost, knowing your money is going towards supporting the Foots family.

Athletics Sports Congratulations to all our students who represented our region at Epping last week. According to the bus driver, we have beautifully well-mannered and behaved students (which, of course we know but appreciate being told). There were lots of PB (personal best achievements), which is what matters most. On Friday the 19th October many of our children will continue their athletic journey by continuing on to the next stage of competition, which will be held at Albury. We wish these students the very best and look forward to hearing how they go. Many thanks to Ms Jen Driessen for all her hard work in organising these events and providing our students with the opportunity to compete outside of their school. With School to Summit approaching and the several camps held in Term 4, Ms Driessen has a massive workload. We are very appreciative of her efforts and the enthusiasm she brings to her teaching position.

Mary Poppins The MUDDS production of Mary Poppins has created a buzz around town and for very good reasons. Last week the Grade 3/4’s were given the opportunity to attend and the students’ feedback was very positive. Many of our students will attend the show with their parents over the next few weeks. I would highly recommend that you purchase tickets. The show was incredible and the talent displayed was incredible. It was also exciting to see so many of our past students participating in the production. Congratulations to the MUDDS team. Cheerio Julie McInnes BOOK CLUB ISSUE 5

Scholastic Book Club Issue 7 has been sent home with your child today. This issue is due to be returned to school by Friday 26th October. Please return any orders to the book club boxes located outside the school library by this date. If you are paying by cheque please make the payment out to Mansfield Primary School. Any orders made through the Book Club LOOP system will be delivered directly to school.

EXCURSION PAYMENTS – CSEF

There are many excursions planned for this term. Please ensure that you check the balance on your family account before paying so that any credit you may have can be allocated towards these costs. Please contact the school office if you are unsure.

ABSENCES

It is essential that parents/carers contact the school to explain why children are not at school. You can call the

office, email, or submit an absence note via the Sentral App. If your child is recorded as absent without an explanation you will be contacted by SMS. Please call the office when you receive a message. Letters will also be sent home regularly during term if your child has 2 or more unexplained absences. You need to provide reasons why your child wasn’t at school against each date in the letter and return to school. Thanks for your cooperation.

MESSAGES Can families please be mindful regarding telephone calls

to the school office, especially when requesting us to pass

messages on for arrangements after school. We

understand that circumstances can change during the day

but it is more useful for the students if they know their

after school arrangements when they leave home.

Un rendez-vous français During the next two weeks, some lucky French classes at Mansfield Primary School will be getting a visit from some French classes at Mansfield Rudolf Steiner School. The French teacher at Mansfield Steiner, Jen, will be walking some of her classes over to Mansfield Primary to perform their French plays for Grades 1/2A, 1/2B, 1/2E, 3/4D and 3/4E. These grades will also have the opportunity to practise their performances of their French plays of La Poule Maboule (Chicken Little) and Les Trois Petits Cochons (The Three Little Pigs) for the students of Mansfield Rudolf Steiner School. This practise performance is, of course, in anticipation of our Grade 1/2 and Grade 3/4 French performances for friends and families in November. We are excited about this opportunity to bring the two schools together to share what we have been learning in French class this year!

FRENCH NEWS

BUS TRAVEL FOR 2019 YEAR 7 STUDENTS—MANSFIELD SECONDARY COLLEGE

ALL families with students that will be attending Mansfield Secondary College by bus next year MUST complete a new Application to Travel Form as they will be going to a new school.

DANGEROUS PARKING AT PICK UP TIME

Please DO NOT park in the ‘no standing’ area near the crossing on Highett St. The crossing su-pervisors have said that it’s happening on a daily basis and is dangerous as other cars are unable

to see kids on the side of the road.

GARDENING CLUB The Mansfield Primary School Gardening Club has kicked off our term 4 program. In our first 2 sessions we have had around 25 students gardening. Volunteers from 1/2E did a superb job planting strawberries, while students from Prep A did an excellent job planting potatoes – they were also very enthusiastic waterers. The students also planted some flowers and learnt about the benefits of attracting bees to the garden. We have had grade 5 and 6 leaders doing a superb job of helping the younger students in the garden. Thank you to the parent volunteers who have been coming to help. To have someone to guide and mentor makes a big difference to the children’s experience in the garden. Thanks also to the families who have donated things to the vegetable garden (straw, raspberries, potatoes, tomatoes, stakes etc.) – your generosity is really appreciated. Please consider our Gardening Club if you are repotting something, or buy a punnet and have a few seedlings left over. If you would like to come in and volunteer, the Gardening Club runs on Tuesdays and Fridays at 2.00. Please ensure you sign in at the office, and the office staff have sighted your Working With Children Check.
