Although the RP200 is so user friendlyyou may not even need to read this manual, we recommendthat you become better acquainted with us, and what we have tooffer by going through this User’s Guide with your RP200 infront of you. It is your key to unlocking the potential within theRP200.

The utmost care was taken while your RP200 was beingmanufactured. Everything should be included and in perfectworking order. If anything is missing, contact the factory at once.Please help us become acquainted with you and your needs bycompleting your warranty card. It is your safeguard should a

1. Footswitches - These 2 Footswitches are used to selectPresets, access the Tuner, or bypass the RP200.The Footswitchon the right will increase, and the Footswitch on the left willdecrease the selected Preset. Pressing both Footswitchestogether will bypass the currently selected Preset. Pressing andholding both Footswitches will access the Tuner.

2. Parameter Knobs - The Parameter knobs performvarious functions depending on which mode is currently active inthe RP200. In performance mode, these knobs control the AmpType, Gain, and Master Level. In Edit mode, these knobs adjustthe Parameter values listed directly above each knob for theselected effect. In Rhythm Trainer, these knobs control thePattern,Tempo, and Level. In Tuner mode, these knobs are usedto select the desired tuning reference.

3. Select Button - This button is used to enter the Editmode, and to select individual effects to be edited. Successivepresses of this button will advance through all available Effects.

4. Rhythm - The Rhythm button is used to turn on and offthe Rhythm Trainer drum loop.When the Rhythm feature isactive, the Rhythm LED lights and the selected drum patternplays continuously.

5. Matrix - The matrix provides information regarding thecurrent Preset, and Parameter edit functions. In performancemode, the LEDs running down the left side of the Matrix willprovide a visual indication of which effects are in use for thecurrently selected Preset. In Edit mode, the LEDs indicate theEffect currently selected for editing. In Tuner mode, the LEDsindicate whether the note played is sharp, flat, or in tune.

6. Display - The Display provides information for differentfunctions depending on the mode that has been selected. InPerformance mode, the Display will show the currently selectedPreset name and number. In Edit mode, the Display will show thename and value of the parameter being adjusted. In Tuner mode,the Display will show the note played.

7. Store - The Store button is used to save your custom editsto the user Presets.

8. Expression Pedal - The Expression Pedal adjusts RP200’sVolume or the assigned Effect Parameter in real time. Almostevery Parameter is available for Expression Pedal control.

Rear Panel

1. Input - Connect your instrument to this jack.

2. Jam-A-Long - Connect the stereo output of a tape or CDplayer to this 1/8” stereo TRS jack for rehearsing with yourfavorite pre-recorded material.

3. Output - This is a stereo TRS jack. Connect from this jack tothe input of a single amplifier for mono applications, or use aTRS stereo “Y” cord to connect to the inputs of 2 amplifiers forstereo applications.

4. Headphones - Connect a pair of stereo headphones to this1/8” jack.

5. Power Input - Connect only the DigiTech PS0913B powersupply to this jack.

Panel trasero

Getting StartedMaking ConnectionsThere are several different connection options available with theRP200. Before connecting the RP200, make sure that the powerto your amplifier and the RP200 is turned off.There is no powerswitch on the RP200.To turn the RP200 on or off, simplyconnect or disconnect the included PS0913B power supply fromthe Power Jack to an AC outlet.

Mono OperationConnect your guitar to the Input of the RP200. Connect asingle mono instrument cable from the Stereo Output of theRP200 to the instrument input or effect return on your amplifier,or to the line input of a power amp.

Stereo OperationFor stereo operation connect the guitar to the Input of theRP200. Connect a TRS stereo “Y” cord to the RP200’s StereoOutput. Connect one end of the “Y” cord to the input of oneamplifier, channel of a mixer, or power amp. Connect the secondend of the “Y” cord to a second amplifier, second channel of amixer, or power amp. If connecting to a mixing console, set thepan controls of the mixer hard left and right in order to retainstereo separation and be sure to engage the RP200’s CabinetEmulator. NOTE: When using a guitar amp, it may be best to connect theguitar to the input of the RP200 and the Output of the RP200to the effect return of the amplifier.

Applying Power Before applying power to anything, set your amp(s) to a cleantone and set the tone controls to a flat EQ response (on mostamps, this would be 0 or 5 on the tone controls).Then followthe steps listed below.1.Turn the amp volume all the way down.2. About the RP200The PresetsPresets are named and numbered locations of programmedsounds which reside in the RP200. Presets are recalled with theFootswitches.The active effects in each Preset will be indicatedby the lighted LEDs in the Effect Matrix.The RP200 comes with40 User Presets (Presets 1-40) and 40 Factory Presets (Presets41-80).The User Presets are locations where your creations maybe stored.The Factory Presets will not allow you to store anychanges to them. Tuner ModeThe Tuner in the RP200 allows you to quickly tune or check thetuning on your guitar. Enter Tuner mode by pressing and holding bothFootswitches simultaneously.The Display will briefly show TUNERindicating that you are in Tuner mode. To begin tuning, play a note onyour guitar (a harmonic at the 12th fret usually works best).TheDisplay shows the note being played.The Matrix LEDs indicatewhether you are sharp or flat.The top 4 Red LEDs indicate the noteis sharp and should be tuned down.The bottom 4 Red LEDs indicatethe note is flat and should be tuned up.The center Green LEDindicates the note is in tune. The output is muted in Tuner mode.TheExpression Pedal will unmute the output allowing signal to be heardwhile tuning. Exit tuner mode by pressing either Footswitch.

In Tuner mode, you canchange your tuningreference.The defaultfactory setting is A=440 Hz.(displayed as A=440).Rotating the Parameter 1knob will select alternatedropped tunings.Alternatetunings are A = Ab(displayed as A=A&),A = G(displayed as A=G), and A =Gb (displayed as A=G&).Thedisplay window will brieflyflash the currently selected tuning preference.

Section Two - Editing FunctionsEditing/Creating PresetsCreating your own signature sound with the RP200 is easy andintuitive.The RP200 lets you create your own Presets, or finetune existing Presets to suit your needs. When creating orediting a sound, you must first start with one of the User orFactory Presets. It is not possible to start with a completelyempty Preset.The Preset number does not necessarily need tobe the location which you intend to have it reside, as you cansave your creation to any User Preset location during the storeprocess.

To edit or create a Preset:1. Use the Footswitches to select a Preset which will be

your starting point.2. Once you have found a Preset that you wish to edit,

press the Select button once.This will take you into theEditing mode.

3. Use the Select button in conjunction with the Matrixto choose the effect you wish to edit.

4. Use the 3 Parameter Knobs to change parametervalues to achieve the desired sound.

The MatrixThe Matrix is where all Effects and Parameters are selected forediting. In Edit mode, successive presses of the Select buttonwill advance to the next Effect row.The LED will light indicatingwhich Effect group has been selected. Each Effect group will haveup to 3 Parameters which can be modified.The Knob undereach column of Parameters is used to change the value for thecorresponding Parameter of the selected Effect. As a Knob isrotated, the Parameter name and value or status will be shownin the Display.

When the stored value of a Parameter is changed, the Store LEDwill light indicating that you need to store the changes. ChangingPresets, or turning the power off before storing any changes willerase any changes made and the RP200 will revert to the storedvalues for the Preset.

Storing/Copying/Naming a PresetOnce the Preset has been modified to your liking, you may storeyour settings to any of the 40 User Preset locations (1-40). Thefollowing steps outline the procedure for storing changes to aPreset or copying a Preset to a different location:

1. Press the Store button once.The Store button LED willblink and the first character in the Display will Flashindicating that you can now name your custom creation.

2. Use the Parameter 1 Knob to select the alpha-numericcharacter and the Parameter 2 Knob to select the nextcharacter location

3. Once the desired name is shown in the display, press theStore button again to enter the second stage of thestoring process.

4. Select the User Preset location your new sound will residein using the up and down Footswitches.The display willalternate between showing the Preset name and numberabout to be overwritten.

Pitch Shift (PitCH)A Pitch Shifter copies the incoming signal, then shifts the pitch ofthe copy to a different note.The shifted note is then mixed backwith the original signal sounding as if two guitars were playingdifferent notes.Amount - The Parameter 2 knob selects the interval of theshifted pitch. Ranges from -12 (12 semitones below) to 24 (24semitones above).Level - The Parameter 3 knob controls the mix level of theshifted pitch. Ranges from 0 to 99.

Whammy™ (wHammy)Whammy™ is an effect that uses an Expression Pedal to bendthe pitch of the incoming signal, or add a bendable harmony withthe original signal. As the Pedal is moved, the note will bendeither up or down.When Whammy™ is selected, it isautomatically placed before the Amp Modeling as shown in theblock diagram.Amount - The Parameter 2 knob selects the interval anddirection of the pitch bend. Section Four - Other FunctionsRhythm TrainerThe RP200 includes several sampled drum patterns which areuseful for developing a good sense of timing. Pressing theRhythm button will enable Rhythm mode and start playback ofthe drum loop (except when in Store or Bypass mode). InRhythm mode, the Parameter 1 knob selects the drumPattern, the Parameter 2 knob adjusts the drum Tempo, andthe Parameter 3 knob adjusts the Level of the drum loop.Press the Rhythm button again to stop playback of the drumloop.

Jam-A-LongThe Jam-A-Long feature allows you to connect a Tape or CD tothe RP200, and Jam with your favorite artists.The signal fromyour tape or CD player is output through the left, right, andheadphone outputs of the RP200. To use the Jam-A-Longfeature, connect the headphone output of your tape or CDplayer to the Jam-A-Long Input on the rear panel of theRP200 using an 1/8” stereo cable, and press play on your tape orCD player.

Expression PedalThe Expression Pedal on the RP200 can be assigned to controlthe RP200’s Volume,Wah, Whammy™,Ya Ya™, or one of severalother parameters in real time with your foot. When aparameter has been assigned to the Expression Pedal, aprogrammable minimum and maximum value can also beassigned.The procedure for assigning a parameter to theExpression Pedal is as follows:1. Press the Select button until the Expression row has beenselected (indicated by the LED lighting on the Expression row).2. Rotate the Parameter 1 knob until the desired Parameterappears in the Display.Your choices include:

VOLPST (Volume Post) - Expression Pedal controls theVolume at the end of the Effects chain.3. Rotate the Parameter 2 knob to select the minimum valuethe assigned parameter will reach with the Expression Pedal inthe toe up position (not available when volume is the assignedparameter).4. Rotate the Parameter 3 knob to select the maximum valuethe assigned parameter will reach with the Expression Pedal inthe toe down position (not available when volume is the assignedparameter).5. Store your Expression Pedal assignment to your Preset. Seepage 13 for more information on the storing procedure.

Factory ResetThis function resets the RP200 to its original factory settings.This procedure will erase all custom user Presets, andrecalibrate the Expression Pedal.

ATTENTION: Performing this function will erase all user-programmed data.All such data will be lost forever! Be sureyou want to erase the memory and start fresh beforecontinuing with this procedure.

The procedure for performing a Factory Reset is as follows:1. Disconnect the power supply from the RP200.2. Press and hold the Select button while re-connecting the

power to the RP200.3.When the display shows RST ?, release the Select button

and press the Store button. The display will briefly readRESET indicating that the RP200 has reset the originalfactory settings.At this point, the RP200 will automaticallyadvance to the Expression Pedal calibration menu. Followsteps 4 through 7 of the Expression Pedal calibration section.

Expression Pedal CalibrationThe Expression Pedal on the RP200 needs to be recalibrated foruse after a factory reset has been performed.This calibrationprocedure is automatically entered after a factory resetprocedure. In the event the Pedal’s calibration fails, or if the Pedaldoes not function properly, it can be re-calibrated using thePedal Calibration procedure.This will not erase the UserPresets.The procedure for Calibrating the Expression Pedal is asfollows:1. Disconnect the PS0913B power supply from the power jackon the RP200.2. Press and hold the Up Footswitch while reconnecting thepower.3. Continue to hold the Up Footswitch until the Display readsTOE DN.4. Rock the Expression Pedal forward to the toe downposition.5. Press either Footswitch and the Display now shows TOEUP.6. Rock the Expression Pedal back to the toe up position.7. Press either Footswitch.The RP200 will return to the lastselected Preset and the Expression Pedal is now calibrated.

Note: If the Display shows ERROR, an error has occurredand steps 4 through 7 should be repeated.
