■`Water softener
The source water is hard water in most cases. The water softener changes it into softwater. It supplies source water into the column of about 1mm, transparent, yellowish-brown and filled withcation exchange resin, ion-exchanging the hardness components (Ca, Mg) with Na ion and removingthe components. With ion exchange capacity retained and due to the brine in the salt container, the cation exchangeresin gives regular regenerations. The resin needs to be replaced or added when it is deteriorated.

■`Chemical injector
It injects anticorrosive chemical into the boiler.
It injects pH adjuster, deoxidizer and scale remover into the water.
It is composed of the pump, chemical tank, pipes and valves.

Tap water and groundwater, widely used as boiler water, contain various impurities that can causescaling, corrosion, carryover and so on and greatly affect their lifespan and efficiency. This is why awater treatment system for water quality management is necessary. Miura Boiler manufactures types of water treatment devices fitting into its boiler products. The above are standard water treatment systems. Please consult our warranty service center about thesystems optimized for the boilers you use.

If not observed, personal accident may take place.

Check the installation condition.Check that themachine has beeninstalled accuratelyaccording to theinspection beforeusing.

Don’t misuse the boiler.Never operate themachine and do notrepair work until thismanual is understoodfully.
Never use boiler water as dringking one.Since the boiler watercan be changed byused water qualityand piping materials,never use it as drinkone.
Be sure to carry out a trial operation.Carry out a trialoperation by aperson in charge ofA/S after checkingthe installation.
Be sure to designate a person incharge of handling the boiler.When using themachine, be sure todesignate a personresponsible forhandling and theperson use it afterunderstanding thismanual fully.
Report are required when using theboiler.In using the boilervarious reports arerequired. Consult aperson in charge ofour marketing stafffor the detailedmatters.

Warning
Simple clothes and wearing of protective devices
Do work in simple clothes.Never operate the machine and do not repairwork throngh wearing loose clothes,accessories, etc. easily to be caught on valvesand machine parts.Never wear the clothes attached with oilslikely to catch a fire.
Wear protective devices.Wear helmet, protective glasses, safety shoes,gloves, etc.According to work. In particular, wheninjecting chemicals, wear protective glassesand rubber gloves so that the hands and eyesmay not be in contact with them.

When an abnormality is found out
●When operating MIURA Boiler, observe all of the following careful matters.
If not observed, personal accident may take place.
When an abnormality such as abnormal sound, smell, smoke, fuel leakage, etc. is found out, lockup fuel valve directly after turning operation S/W as “OFF”. A danger such as a fire or a blast maytake place.
Abnormality handlingObserve the instruction of ourcompany on abnormality handling.Never use the machine in the statethat the cause for abnormality hasnot been removed fully, which maylead to dangerous fire, blast, etc.
Inflammables or use of firestrictly prohibited with agas leakOpen the windows or doors andlet some fresh air in. Do not use switch on ventilationfan, can cause explosion

Use designated fuel.In case of using otherfuel than designatedone a blast may takeplace.
Use ventilation equipment (exhaustfan) when operatingWhen operating,make an operationtogether withventilation and don’tclose ventilation port.Intoxication of carbonmonoxide byincompletecombustion may takeplace.
Strict separation of boiler fuel frominflammable substancesIn case boiler fuel isplaced near inflammablematerials a fire maybreak out.Never placeinflammable substancesnear the boiler.Never placeinflammable substancesinside a control box.
Never touch the boiler thoughtlesslywhen operating.Don’t touch other partthan operation one whenoperating the machine,which may causedangerous electricshock, scald, etc.
Preparation of fire extinguisher and emergency medicine
Install a fire extinguisher without fail.In preparation for anyemergency, install afire extinguisher andunderstand its usingmethod.
Prepare a box for emergencymedicine.Designate the storingplace of emergencymedicine box andprepare it.

Request at the time of moving and resale
Please contact our company at thetime of moving and resale of boiler.For operation of boiler, a proper installationwork and an optimum additional device arerequired. At the time of moving and resale ofboiler, contact our marketing office withoutfail.Other installation work and additional deviceconnection than those designated by us areprone to cause personalaccident so you had betternot do that for the safety.
At the time of resale attach themanual.Since the manual is required for boileroperation, hand over it to enduser together atthe time of resale.

Warning
●Before using MIURA Boiler, check the following installation item and makesure that they are installed correctly. The danger of serious accident is existentall the time so you are recommended not to use the machine under incorrectinstallation situation.

■`Boiler roomIs ventilation device (exhaust fan) installed?Check if the ventilator and exhaust fan are installed. If a sufficiant airexhaust is unavailable, dangerous toxic of carbon monoxide and blastby incomplete combustion may take place as well.
■`Boiler bodyIs boiler body installed on the incombustible materialbase?Check if the material of base is not made of wood such as inflammablematerial. If it is used, a fire and other accidents may take place.
Is the distance between boiler and combustiblematerials sufficient?Boiler installation shall not be made in the inflammable and dangerousmaterial handling place and make sure that the distance frominflammable materials is farther than 45cm.
■`Fuel pipingAny fuel leakage in fuel piping? Longer than 2m inhorizontal distance between oil tank and boiler?If not snfficient in horizontal distance between oil tank and boiler anexplosion is likely to take place dangerously.
Is not the fuel in fuel piping leaked out?Is a gas leakage alarm installed?Install a gas leakage alarm in LPG or LNG for exlusive use boiler.
LPG is heavier than air, thereby causing the gas blast through
being accumulated on the floor.
LNG is lighter than air, thus bringing about the gas blast through
being collected on the ceiling.

■`Electric workIf warning matters on electric work are not observed,it may lead to electric shock or other serious accident.
Is power source only for boiler?Make sure that an exclusive use breaker as powersource of boiler is attached.
Is electric leakage breaker attached?Check if a breaker attached to main power source isan electric leakage one.
Do you use designated product for cablethickness?Check if cable thickness and breaker capacity are inaccordance with designated specification or not.
Is ground wiring connected to earthterminal?Make sure that ground wiring is connected to earthterminal inside a boiler control box.
■ Installation of exhaust tubIs penetration part of exhaust tubcomposed of incombustible materials?Make sure that penetration part of exhaust tub iscomposed of incombustible materials. If it is composedof combustible materials a fire may take place..
Are combustible materials not near thecircumference of exhaust tub?Check if inflamable materials are not near thecircumference of exhaust tub. If they are existentnearby, it may be the cause for a fire.
Is the connection part airtighted and fixedsecurely?Check if airtightness and fixation of it are made fullyor not. If not, a toxication accident by exhaust gasleakage may take place.

■`Safety V/V discharge pipingIs there not any danger in the direction of thedischarge piping end?Make sure that the direction is not dangerous to peopleeven though hot water is discharged at the dischargepiping end?If the end of piping is toward people there is a danger of aburn and other accidents at the time of hot waterdischarge.
Does the discharge piping not move withreaction by discharging?Make sure that the discharge piping is fixed securely. Ifnot, the piping will move with reaction by discharging,thereby causing a burn and other accidents at the time ofhot water discharge from piping.
■`Blow pipingDoes piping not move with reaction by blowwater?Checking if piping is fixed securely or not. If not, thepiping will move with reaction by discharging, therebycausing a burn and other accidents at the discharge of hotwater discharge from piping.
Is the end opened to safe place such as bitand etc?Check if the end of drain piping is opened to safe placesuch as a bit and etc.If the end of piping is installed in the place without draindevice, the hot water discharge when draining the watermay cause a scald and other accidents.

When the Boiler is powered ON, it lights on.
When the Operation Switch is ON, it lights on.
It lights on while boiler is under combustion mode.
It lights on if the water leveltouches the S-pole.
It lights on if the water leveltouches the L-pole.
If either non-arrival fails or combustionbecomes extinct, it lights on andnotifies abnormal state.
ON mode allows the Combustion Switchto be ON.

1. Prepare a ladder.
2. Check location and direction of main steam V/V.
3. Open and close the main steam V/V on the ladder.
Note
In case a steam header is being installed during piping work, open main steam V/V.Main steam V/V of steam header plays a role of main steam V/V instead.Install backflow prevention V/V (check V/V for steam) in steam piping between steam header and boiler.
Warning
Since main steam V/V is located at high place and its footing is limited, operate it in proper clothes(long
sleeve, long pants, safety shoes, safety helmet, gloves, etc) when switching on and off.
Since whole boiler body is in the high temperature state directly after stopping it, never touch other part
than the handle of main steam V/V. If touched, you may incur a scald and other injury.
Warning
Never jump up and down the ladder. When going upand down, be sure to hold the ladder with both handsand one leg or one hand and both legs in order thatyou may go up and down safely against the danger offalling down.

■`Water drain of feed water pump
1. Close V/V of water supply and feed water source.
2. Open V/V of water drain and air drain in the feed
water pump.
3. Check if the water does not drain from water drain
V/V.
4. Close V/V of water drain and air drain in feed water
pump.
Note
V/V of water drain and air drain in the feed water pump is somewhat different from that in
specification in some cases. Consult our A/S staff for proper use before using.
Note
In case of solving the freezing problem by water
drain of water tube and feed water pump, do drain
work of feed water pump as follows. Drain work of
feed water pump shall be done after drain of water
tube.
Note
Never turn V/V of water drain and air drain more
than once. The water may eruput suddenly.
Warning
For the boiler of hot water specification and drain recovery, since the water in feed water piping is hot,
do not work until the feed water piping cools down ( longer than 2 hours from the stop of boiler) fully in
order to prevent any injury such as a scald and etc.

■`Air drain of feed water pump
1. Open V/V of feed water source and feed water.
2. Open V/V of air drain in the feed water pump.
3. Check if only the water comes out through an isloation
of air.
4. Close air drain V/V
Note
V/V of water drain and air drain in the feed water pump is somewhat different from that in
specification in some cases. Consult our A/S staff for proper use before using.
NoteFor the remedy on freezing in winter season bycleaning and draining the feed water strainer and incase of the feed water pump filled with air, do thedrain work as follows. If air is not drained the feedwater pump does not work properly. Never operateit until air drain is completed. When you operateP/P in the state that water is not existent the P/Pmay be broken badly.
NoteNever turn air drain V/V more than once. Thewater may erupt suddenly.
WarningFor the boiler of hot water specification and drain recovery, since the water in feed water piping is hot,do not work until the feed water piping cools down (longer than 2 hours from the stop of boiler) fully inorder to prevent any injury such as a scald and etc.

VII Inspection and preparations before starting

■`Check the following items before operating a boiler.

1. Check if a short circuit breaker inside a control box is
OFF or not.
If it is ON, turn it as OFF.
2. Turn main power as ON.
3. After opening air drain V/V of water pipe for about 5seconds, close it.
4. After checking if the water is filled in feed water tankabove 2/3, open V/V of feed water source and feedwater.
5. In accordance with 「using method of operation systemand air drain of feed water pump」in chapter 6, drainair from the feed water pump.

6. Confirmation of fuel
■The case which will use the gas.
Open the gas inlet valve.
Read chapter 9「Maintenance/gas pressure checking up」and
check whether gas pressure gauge is on the normal.
■The case which will use the oil.
Check if the fuel is filled fully in tank and open the
fuel V/V in it.
7. According to 「Repair & inspection/Chemicals injection
inspection」, check if designated amount of chemicals
is in chemicals injection TK or not.

inspection」in chapter 9, check if feed water is made as
soft one or not.

9. Check if main steam V/V is closed or not. If not
closed, close it in accordance with 「Using method of
operation system/Operation of main steam V/V」in
chapter 6.

1. Refer to the Chapter 7 [Inspection & Preparations
before Starting].

2. Turn ON the Operation Switch.
The operation lamp lights on and the water level
control & metering control initiate.
If the water falls below the designated level, the
Low Level lamp will be on to start running the Feed
Water Pump.
If it reaches the designated level, the Low Level
lamp will be off to stop the Feed Water Pump.
3. Turn ON the Combustion Switch.
Enter the Arrival Mode after applying the pre-purge
for about 15 seconds, and then, start the Combustion
mode.
4. Wait until the steam pressure gauge indicates 0 to
2kg/cm.
5. Refer to the Chapter 6. [Directions for Operating
Devices/ Main Steam Valve Control] and slowly open
up the main steam valve.

1. Turn fire S/W as OFF.
A fire lamp is it off.
Acoording to the condition a post fire is executed.
Thereafter a post purge is being executed.
2. Check if a post fire is completed or not.

1. Make sure that black smoke or white one comes out ofa stack or not.
2. Make sure that any abnormality of a blower, a feedwater pump, etc in operation sound is present or not.
3. Make sure that serious vibration or abnormal value inan indicator of steam pressure gauge and oil pressureguage i present or not.
4. Make sure that any fuel leakage is present or not.
Warning
When abnormal phenomenon such as abnormal sound, smell, smoke, etc takes place, turn operation S/WOFF and close fuel V/V. Fire and explosion are likely to take place.For abnormal phenomenon handling, follow an instruction of our company A/S staff. Never use ourboiler in the state that the cause for abnormality is not removed fully.It may lead to the cause for a fire and explosion.

IX Repair & inspection
1. Stop an operation according to 「Starting / Stop」inchapter 8.

2. Wait until the display of a steam pressure gaugereaches 0to 2kg/cm².
3. Open V/V of a water tube blow slowly and blow thewater tube.
4. When a steam pressure gauge exceeds 2kg/cm², do notopen V/V of the water tube blow.
5. Close V/V of the water tube blow.
6. Drain the water form feed water pump according to「Using method of operation system / Drain of feedwater pump」in chapter 6.

The following instructional freezing remedy is an example. According to the regional situations boiler
installation, take a comprehensive freezing remedy including circumferential instruments. For the
freezing remedy, consult our A/S office freely any time.

6. Open blowdown V/V of water tube in boiler.
7. Opening blowdown V/V water, while water supply tothe boiler is being progressed the chemicals feed pumpis operated and then the chemicals including an aircome out. If all of air in the pump is emptied out, onlythe chemicals come out.
8. Check if an air in the chemicals feed pump is emptiedout and only the chemicals come out.
9. Close air drain V/V of the chemicals feed pump.
10. Close blowdown V/V.
11. Place the tube for air drain to the original location.
12. Check if the chemicals are leaked out or not. In caseof their leakage, wash them with soft cloth cleanlyand remove the cause for the leakage.

Attention
Do not automatically mix the water in the poly beaker. It makes measuring the exact amount impossible.For specific measurement, drop 4 droplets of hardness indicator. Keep 50mL of water acquired fromsafety valve. The hardness indicator should be slowly dropped with the pipette vertically positioned. After shakingenough, get water until the amount reaches 50mL. Examine the color change immediately. After morethan 10 minutes, color change becomes dull with exact measurement failed.
Inspection on soft water
1. Previously, discharge about 2L of water powerfullyfrom the safety valve (excreting congested water)
2. From safety valve, wash the accessory poly beakerwith water frequently.
3. Add 4 drips of indicator to the poly beaker(Samplingwater first may make it difficult to mix the hardnessindicator)
4. Get about 20mL of water from safety valve and pour itto the poly beaker. Shake it frequently.
5. After shaking it frequently, get the water from safetyvalve and pour it to the poly beaker until the amountreaches 50mL.

1. Inspect oil pressure during boiler combustion.Make sure that a combustion lamp is lit up.
Note
For oil pressuree inspection, do it during boiler operating. An oil P/P is operated in the state ofcombustion but accurate pressure inspection is not possible if oil P/P is not operated.

1. Turn OFF the main power of the boiler.
2. Close the Oil Valve of an Oil Tank.
3. Disassemble the fixed screw of the burner cover in theupper side of the wind box and the copper pipe union.
4. Pull out the purification cord out of the arrival pole andtake out the frame eye before disassembling the mainbody of the burner.
5. Remove the soot stained on the baffle plate with abrush and so on.
6. Turn the nozzle chip to disassemble it from the burner.

The cleaning cycle of a burner varies in conditions of use and status of fuel. Therefore, refer to theinstructions of the Customer Service Manager of our company.

Analysis of water quality
Note
Do an analysis of water quality once per four months. The city water, underwater, industrial use waterchange according to season. If neglecting the water quality analysis, it may lead to the fall of boilerefficiency and the damage of water pipe. Safety V/V requires a regular inspection. If neglecting it a danger such as some explosion and etc due to
the trouble of the V/V may take place.

Adjust eruption pressure of safety V/V to the displayed value. In case small tolerence may take place,do not adjust it without paying a lot of attention to it.In case of sensing an abnormality, contact our A/S office.

Ⅹ Troubleshooting
1. Set the Combustion Switch at OFF position. The buzzer stops. In this case, if you turn ON thecombustion switch without removing the cause, thebuzzer will set off again.
2. Check if the post-purge process is finished.
(If a ventilator stops, it means the post-purge isfinished.)
3. Set the operation switch at OFF position.
4. Check what the error is and remove the cause byreferring to the [Troubleshooting before RequestRepair].
Note
Error is to inform if the boiler is estimated to be dangerous for continued combustion via a buzzer and
a lamp by stopping the combustion.
If error occurs, the buzzer sets off and the error lamp will switch on.
At the same time, combustion stops automatically and post-purge is executed for about 30 seconds.

3. Put the end of the vinyl tube, found within the airbleeding valve of the oil pump, inside the container.
4. Open the air bleeding valve of the oil pump.
5. Press the manual button of the electronic switch forburner motor within the control box to operate the oilpump. The oil mixed with air comes out from the air bleedingvalve. When all the air is bled, only the oil will comeout.
