Lack of Single, Unified Database

Having no unified database made it hard for the Logicode staff

to easily retrieve information from different departments. Updat-

ing information then had to be done several times, as well as

cross checking and rechecking items, which became an

absolute requirement. It would have been easier if anyone from

the Logicode team can directly view and download their

needed files but they had to sort through layers of documents

and confirm with some personnel certain data that they require.

Difficult Consolidation Process

Since information was fragmented within the different depart-

ments, rechecking and cross-referencing necessary items

became a necessary process in the everyday work of the

Logicode team. Gathering data was hard enough but consoli-

dating that information one by one was even harder. Consolida-

tion of purchased items was also a challenge that would have to

depend on the sales order using the typical excel file then.

Reserved items by customers were confusing to handle as most

were still available for purchasing even if the reservation was

done beforehand. Even the technical team for the Logicode

staff had a tough time applying solutions to problems already

encountered as there were minimal existing records for already

solved concerns and issues.

Solution

The Logicode team was definitely in need of an efficient system

that would let them integrate the existing information from their

different departments, enabling them to quickly access and

gather information, harmonizing the activities within the

company. The Logicode staff wanted a simpler process of

gathering data, of processing items and most importantly,

consolidating information with one another.

Effective Consolidation Process

Ever since a unified database has been set-up, it has now

become ultimately easier for the Logicode staff to cross

reference and tie-in information from one department to

another. Consolidating information such as purchased and

reserved items became a lighter job for the team, only an

approval would be needed. Online reservations are now

allowed and reserved items are immediately noted of, taking

care not to include them with the items on sale. There’s no more

need to do more cross checking and referencing with other

personnel and staffs from other departments. Even the technical

team’s work became easier, as past solutions and amendments

are all combined and integrated together for a more harmoni-

ous problem-solving task.
