CORONAVIRUS BY CRYSTAL CAMARGO 5TH GRADE RM 109

What is coronavirus? Coronavirus is a group of viruses that can infect people. Some causes mild illnesses, like the common cold, while others lead to a more serious illness. On February 11th ,the illness was named COVID-19. The illness started in Wuhan, China. The new coronavirus was first identified in December 2019. Below you will see some of the symptoms.

What is going on in Puerto Rico? By Melany Serrano-3rd grade

More than 1,280 earthquakes have hit Puerto Rico since December 28, 2019. The earthquakes have killed dozens of people. Earthquakes have caused many serious injuries and destroyed many buildings including a school in the town of Guanica that luckily was empty at the time.These earthquakes are causing the most damage to Puerto Rico since 1918. The island has been under a state of emergency since January 6, 2020. Damaging at least 800 homes in the island. Many people have lost their homes. There are many people living with relatives or in shelters.

GradeBrookfield zoo is a place where people visit and enjoy all the amazing animals. You can sometimes even pet some animals. Brookfield also has many fun events all throughout the year. It even has a playground for kids. Brookfield zoo is an amazing place to visit!

Dolphins

By: Nathan Alvarez-3d Grade I'm going to be writing about dolphins. Here are some things about dolphins that I know: dolphins are sea mammals and most dolphins have bodies that are about 10 feet that is almost like 3 meters long. They move their tail, it flukes up and down to swim. Dolphins use two flippers and a dorsal fin to steer. Dolphins live in all oceans and salt water keeps their skin soft. Most dolphins swim in warm waters near the pacific ocean. Dolphins eat fish, shrimp and squid. They are very smart!

Wolf spider

by Nathan Alvarez-3rd GradeWolf spiders have eight legs. Their fat bodies are brown or gray. They are .08 to 1.6 inches long. Some wolf spiders are covered in hair. Wolf spiders live all over the world. They are most often found in prairies. During the winter wolf spiders may crawl into people's homes. Wolf spiders hunt for their prey at night. Most wolf spiders wait in burrows. They pounce on bugs that walk past them. They crush the bug with their strong jaws. A female wolf spider lays eggs in a large sac. She carries the sac until the eggs hatch. After hatching the young spiders live on their mother's back for one week.

The Amur Leopard Itzel Hernandez-3rd Grade

This breed is one of the rarest felines in the world. They are speedy animals able to run up to 35 miles per hour. The amur leopard is the only panthera that can survive cold winters and hot summers. Amur leopard have thick white or cream fur with large widely spaced black spots called rosettes covering the head. Amur leopard have long bushy tails. This leopard can live for 10-15 years. In captivity they can live up to 20 years. This leopard is only found in Russia and far east and north east China. Males weigh less than female leopards. They are also smaller in size.

Cougars

Cougars are large wild cats. They are 9 feet or 2.7 meters long.They have short but thick fur that is tan and black. Cougars have markings on their face. They live in South America, North America and Central America. Their homes are in forests, deserts and in mountains. Cougars can jump 15 feet the same as 4.6 meters long. They leap on their prey such as deer, elk and rabbits. Female cougars give birth to 6 kittens at a time. In the wild, cougars live about 12 to 20 years.

Super Smash Bros is a game that has a lot of well known Nintendo characters like Mario, Link, DK, Fox, Samus, Kerby AND MORE! There's a story mode, an online mode, and more. Super Smash Bros was made by Masahiro Sakurai. There is a DLC pass. Smash Bros was made back in 1999 for the N64. In my opinion, Super Smash Bros is the best game in the world.

China is a country that celebrates New Years by mostly wearing red. Have you ever asked yourself why they wear red almost all the time? Well, there's a tail of why they wear red and why the color is so lucky to them. So one day there was a girl that wanted her future told. She went to a prophet. A prophet is a person that can tell you your future. The prophet told her she would have a wonderful life until one day all of China would be attacked with a ghost. The girl asked, what can we do so we don’t get attacked. The prophet said, I don’t know. The girl left and she ran to her parents to share the information. The parents didn’t believe their daughter. The day came when the ghost came and the girl was wearing a red dress. When the ghost came to her house the girl was in front of her family wearing red. It turned out that the ghost was afraid of red like the bulls. Since she was in front of her family the ghost ran away and the girl ran outside and told the other people to grab something red to scare the ghost away. This is how red turned into a very lucky color in China.
