Screening for Breast Cancer involves a Clinical Breast Exam (CBE), a mammogram (for women over 50), and a Breast Self-Exam (BSE). A CBE is done by your healthcare provider. Your provider will touch your breasts to check for any Iumps. Women 50 years of age and older, will need to get a mammogram.
A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast. It can detect cancers that are as small as a grain of rice, thus finding cancer at a very early stage. Get a CBE and a Mammogram every year. You must also remember to check your breasts (BSE) every month.
Make it a Habit for Life!
There is a simple and safe screening test you can get that can find abnormal cells in and around the cervix. This test is called the Pap test or Pap smear. Finding and treating abnor-mal cells is important. If these cells are not treated, they can become Cancer. Women 21 years of age and older may need to get a Pap test every 2 years.
