Introductory Information

Is your family ready to travel the big, wide, world? Before you begin on your exciting

adventure, you will want to print out and assemble your child’s very own personal passport so

have your children spend a day getting that ready to go. As you “travel” through the countries

and learn about them, make sure to have them stamp their passport with any rubber stamp or

even stickers if you have that on hand. As you begin your worldwide journey, you can print out

all the pages for the week or just print out the pages you would like to do as you go along. I will

list some reference books that you can use to find the answers to the information sheets on the

bottom of the schedule (under additional books) as well as many other projects to learn about the

country and its culture. Before you begin each continent, I have given two options for your

students, 1) they can draw a picture of the continent themselves and label the countries or, 2)

they can just label the countries in the continent by using the maps in your student book section

of this pdf.

A Curriculum that fits YOUR Family!

I have created this curriculum with many different learning styles as my children have

different learning styles (hands on, research and open ended projects/assignments, note booking

style, literature, and visual with movies). I have some countries scheduled for a week long study

while others are scheduled for only a day or two. With those things in mind, choose whatever

projects and activities that your children will enjoy, don’t feel like you need to complete them

all, and if you feel like you want to spend more time or even less time on a country, than do so.

Adjust this curriculum around what works for you and your family!

In addition, I have included many movies, with ratings, and many books that go along with each

country. Please keep in mind that what one family thinks is ok to watch or read, may be

different from what another family thinks is ok. Please check the reviews yourself before

making a decision. I have linked all the additional books to Amazon so that you may read the

descriptions and the reviews. If you have a great library system, you should be able to find many

There are also links to crafts or projects. I have tried to use well known, main websites but

please check the links before you begin to make sure they are working properly beforehand.

You will also need some sort of world map. This can be a wall map, map in an atlas, a globe, or

even an online map of the world. You want something where you children can locate the

countries that they are learning about.

I have included information sheets that your child will need to fill out. Most of the information

can be found either in the non-fiction books that I have suggested or online.

Passport Instructions

Print each page double sided. Once all printed out, cut along the solid red line and place the

passport pages in page order. Fold in the middle and staple booklet together.

Using the Passport When using the passport, make sure your child stamps the page with either a stamper you

have at home or a sticker. Once you have “visited” the country, you can have your child go back

to the passport and write any interesting facts that they learned about that particular country.

Ingredients -your favorite pizza dough recipe (or an already pre-made

pizza crust)

-1 -2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil

-several large leaves of fresh basil

-1 tomato cut in slices

-a large fresh mozzarella ball

Directions…

1. Soak your wheat in water (the bathtub works well for this or you can do it in a bucket). Soak for

about an hour or until you are able to bend the wheat without it breaking.

2. Take about 9 stalks of wheat and starting at the top, braid to about ¾ of the down. Repeat with

another 9 stalks of wheat.

3. Hold the two braided stalks together by the tops of the wheat and loop each end down to create a

heart.

3. Tie the stalks of wheat together where the center of the heart forms and make a loop so that you can

hang it!

2) Lewis and Clark Expedition Find a place to take a hike (neighborhood, state park, hiking trail, etc). Take your journals with you and

some colored pencils. Set a time frame of when you will stop to write in your journals and that will be

considered your “day” (example, set every 20 mins to be your “day”). At the end of your “day”, stop to

write and draw in your journal about what you saw. Create names for your “new” discoveries.
