WHERE TO USE Bonding of skirtings, step nosings or other profiles
in plasticised PVC.
Bonding on curved or vertical surfaces whereimmediate grip is required.
Bonding of floor and wall coverings in PVC, corkor wood with PVC backing.
Some application examplesAdesilex VZis used for bonding:
profiles in PVC: mouldings, skirting, corners, nosingsetc.;
PVC or linoleum on curved surfaces or where animmediate bond is required;
floor and wall coverings in PVC where an immediatebond is required or on non-absorbent surfaces;
floor and wall coverings in cork or wood with PVCbacking
ON
walls, floors, ceilings, cement render, wood,hardboard, chipboard, fibre cement sheets, gypsum,plasterboard, laminates and plastic materials.
Also for the bonding of:
PVC sheets to metal and light alloys;
PVC or polyurethane foams, together and with wood,metal etc.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICSAdesilex VZis a double coat polychloroprenic rubberbased adhesive in a solvent solution, particularly suitedfor the fixing of PVC floor and wall coverings.
Adesilex VZis a low viscosity with an immediate bond.
After settingAdesilex VZhas high adhesion andelasticity.Resistance to temperature and ageing is excellent.
RECOMMENDATIONS Do not useAdesilex VZfor fixing foam or other
materials that are not resistant to the solventscontained in the adhesive (in case of doubt, carry
out a preliminary test).
For bonding ridged or expanded polystyrene when aproduct which sets immediately is required Ultrabond
Aqua-Contact.
Install the covering before the solvents contained inAdesilex VZhave completely evaporated.
Do not install on damp substrates or substrates thatmay be subject to rising damp.
Do not use on old paint.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Preparation of the substrateThe substrate must be uniformly dry, flat, and free fromcracks, resistant to compression and tension; free fromdust and loose particles, varnish, wax, oil, rust, traces

PRODUCT FOR PROFESSIONAL USE.
WARNINGAlthough the technical details andrecommendations contained in this productdata sheet correspond to the best of ourknowledge and experience, all the aboveinformation must, in every case, be taken asmerely indicative and subject to confirmationafter long-term practical application: forthis reason, anyone who intends to use theproduct must ensure beforehand that it issuitable for the envisaged application: inevery case, the user alone is fully responsible
for any consequences deriving from the useof the product.
Please refer to the current version of theTechnical Data Sheet, available from ourwebsite www.mapei.com
of gypsum and products that may preventbonding.
Check the moisture content throughoutthe entire thickness of the substrate with acarbide or electric hygrometer, keeping inmind that the latter gives only approximatevalues.
It is essential to ensure that there is no risingdamp present.
The humidity content must be as prescribed:for cement substrates max. 2.5-3%, for thosewith a gypsum or anhydrite base max. 0.5%.
Floating screeds over layers of insulationand screeds directly on the ground, must beconstructed over a vapour barrier to preventrising damp.
If either cracks in a substrate need to berepaired, a screed requires consolidation,a quick-drying screed needs to be installed
or if a surface requires levelling before layingthe coating, please refer to the catalogueswhich illustrate the various ranges of MAPEIproducts or contact the MAPEI Technical
Assistance Department.
AcclimatisationBefore starting the installation, make surethat the floor or wall coverings, the adhesiveand the substrate are acclimatised to therecommended temperature.
Floor and wall coverings must be removedfrom the packaging several hours beforeinstallation; the sheets must be freely laid
or at least loosened from the rolls to allowacclimatisation and the reduction of tensionproduced by the packaging.
Spreading the adhesiveAdesilex VZis applied evenly with a finenotched trowel (MAPEI No. 1) both to thesubstrate and to the backing of the covering.
Very absorbent substrates may require apriming coat.
Installing the coveringFollow the installation instructions given by
the floor and wall covering manufacturer.Lay the covering after the completeevaporation of the solvent, 10-20 minutesat +23C (do not wait too long): in practice,the correct time is easily determined, wait forthe moment when the adhesive is still stickyto the touch without actually sticking to thefingers.Then proceed to apply the covering, beingvery careful as errors in laying cannot becorrected due to the immediate bond of theadhesive. Apply pressure to the bondedsurface by means of a suitable metal rolleror wooden trowel (or similar).
CleaningAdesilex VZcan be cleaned from tools andclothing whilst fresh, with nitro or benzinesolvents. When dry with Pulicol 2000ormechanically.
