Timothy Dale Fulks 31 of Ravenna passed away Friday June 3, 2016 fol-lowing an accident at work for Rotek in Aurora, Ohio. He was born May 18, 1985 in Akron, Ohio to Hobert Ray and Debra L. (Friedly) Fulks. Tim has been a lifelong Ravenna resident and was employed with Rotek where he worked in Maintenance. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, riding his dirt bikes and four wheel-ers. Survivors include his parents Hobert and Debra Fulks of Ravenna,

his brother Brad (Mandy) Fulks of Rootstown, his nephew Nathan and his niece Brooke. Also sur-viving Tim are his grand-parents Hazel Fulks of Branchland, WV, Shirley Higgs of Ravenna, Gene Friedly of Shalersville and he was a nephew to Linda Byars of Ravenna, Julie Saxton of Diamond, Roy and Eddie Fulks both of West Virginia and many great aunts, uncles and cousins. Malcomb J. Wright, age 54, of Ravenna for-merly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 1, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Malcomb Wright was born in Ravenna, Ohio to Andrew and Lottie Wright on December 18, 1961. He graduated from Ravenna High School and also graduated from Kent State School of Archi-tecture. He worked as an architect for some of the top architectural firms in the country, Robert P. Madison International in Cleveland, Ohio, John Portman and Associates in Atlanta, Ga., Stevens and Wilkinson in Atlanta,

Ga., Trescott, English & Associates in Macon Ga. and Whiting-Turner Contracting Company in Cleveland, Ohio.

Malcomb is survived by his father and step mother Pastor Andrew and Mamie Wright, his mother Lottie Mae Wright, his brothers Jerome Davis, Andrew T. Wright, Avon Wright, Miles Wright, Stephan Wright, Rayfield Wright, Marcus Wright, numer-ous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elinor Elizabeth “Betty” Johnson, age 93, of Brimfield, went home to be with the lord on Sunday June 5, 2016. She was born on January 16, 1923 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH to the late Herbert and Helen (Elliott) Goe-belbecker.

She was a member of Hartville Church of Christ where she partici-pated in everything she could. She enjoyed quilt-ing, gardening, reading, sewing and being with her family.

Preceded in death by her husband Edward L. Johnson; sister Dorothy and brothers Robert and Richard Goebelbecker; and granddaughter Dan-nilee McGunigal. She is survived by daughters Joanne (Michael) Lebo of Hartville, Barb Pamer of Ravenna, Susan (Ste-ven) DeLuke of Brim-field; grandchildren Mark (Lori) Slates, Beth Scheetz, Kelly (Chuck) Ikey, Brian Slates, Michael (Heidi) Lebo, Kathy (Steve) Chenevey, Bob (Courtney) Lebo, Jamie (Jeremy Anderson) Gilbert, Jimmy Basford, Brenda Barnhart, Danny Singer and David Singer; 22 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law Carol Sue Sipes, Dorothy Cable, Myrtle (Warren) Darrah and Jan Johnson; and many lov-ing nieces and nephews.

Curt L. Falacienski

Geraldine E. Knicker-bocker (nee Searl), 91 of Easton, PA, passed away on May 28, 2016 at New Eastwood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

Born on July 13, 1924 in Ravenna, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jennie Searl.

Her husband of 59 years, Palmer F. Knicker-bocker, predeceased her on February 3, 2006.

Gerry graduated from Ravenna High School and after marrying her husband moved to Easton

from Ohio at the end of World War II. She was employed as a secretary at Penn Pump.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Beth A. Knickerbocker, Esquire and her husband David P. Koehler, of Easton; two grandchildren, Aaron and Amanda Koehler; a sister, Anne (Ed) Giet of Brim-field; and four nieces and a nephew. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her brother, Charles Searl.

Burial has taken place in Northampton Memo-rial Shrine in Easton, PA.

Sara M. Freeman 59 of Streetsboro passed away Saturday June 4, 2016 at Hospice of the West-ern Reserve in Cleve-land, Ohio with her fam-ily by her side. She was born on April 19, 1957 in Steubenville, Ohio to Ernest and Josephine (Wuchetich) Freeman. Sara has lived in Streets-boro the past 20 years and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Streets-boro. She graduated from John Carroll University with a BS in Chemistry, where she went to work for the Ferro Corporation in Independence, Ohio as a Chemist.

She was preceded in death by her father Ernest and is survived by her mother Josephine M. Freeman, her sister Jody (Dale) Shoemaker, niece Pamela, nephew Nicho-las all of Loveland, Ohio and her Aunt George Ann

age, passed away Sunday June 5, 2016 in Aurora, Ohio. Leigh was born on August 1, 1949 in War-ren, Ohio the daughter of the late Kenneth and Virginia (Cook) Shale. A lifetime resident of Gar-rettsville, Leigh was the owner-operator of Silver Crik Saloon in Garretts-ville for over 30 years. She enjoyed bowling, fly fishing, cooking at the bar and catering and was a member of Garrettsville Order of the Eastern Star. Over the many years that she operated the Crik, Leigh made herself avail-able to assist others when fund raising events were

needed, providing a loca-tion and doing the cook-ing. She will always be remembered as a help-ing hand to so many in difficult times. Survivors include her son Brett ( Julie ) Kraft of Hartville, Ohio; brother Kenneth “ K.C.” Shale of Gar-rettsville; grandchildren Ethan and Aidan Kraft, and her Dash-Hound child “ Hank”. Prosecutor files no charges against boy’s mother in gorilla case

CINCINNATI — A prosecutor Monday an-nounced no charges will be brought against the mother of the little boy who got into the gorilla exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo, saying the 3-year-old “just scampered off” as children sometimes do.

The kil l ing of a 400-pound gorilla that was dragging the child through a moat May 28 set off a torrent of criti-cism online, with some vilifying the zoo for shoot-ing the animal and others blaming the mother for not watching her child more closely.

Hamilton County Pros-ecutor Joe Deters said the case didn’t come close to warranting a charge of child endanger-ment, and he defended the mother as an atten-tive parent undeserving of the abuse and threats.

He said the moth-er had three other chil-dren with her, ages 1 to 7, and had turned away “for a few seconds” to at-tend to one when the boy took off.

“If anyone doesn’t be-lieve a 3-year-old can scamper off very quick-ly, they’ve never had kids. Because they can. And they do,” Deters said.

The family said it was pleased with the deci-sion.

“This is one more step in allowing us to put this tragic episode behind us and return to our normal family,” they said.

The boy apparent-ly climbed over a 3-foot barrier, made his way through bushes and fell 15 feet into a shallow moat. The zoo’s dan-gerous-animal response team shot the agitat-ed, 17-year-old gorilla, Harambe, after conclud-ing the boy’s life was in danger.
