A unique dual mission, focused both internally and externally, guides Marburn Academy. We strive to: 1) provide the finest college preparatory education for students who learn differently because of dyslexia and ADHD; and, 2) to serve as a catalyst for improving the quality of education available to people with learning differences in Central Ohio and throughout the state.

The continued generosity of loyal corporate partners, foundations, Marburn familiesand friends ensures that Marburn Academy remains a place of both high opportunity and high achievement. Because of your support, we are able to provide a success-oriented learning environment wherein the teaching methods empower our students to develop their rich potentials both academically and socially. As a result of the education they receive at Marburn, our students graduate, go to college, and become successful working adults and contributing members of our community. Your gift helps us continue this important work.

Our Mission

Marburn Academy is proud of the exceptional and highly trained professionals who teach our students. Their knowledge and passion for their work are the soul of the Marburn community. We aim to provide a uniquely supportive, success-oriented academic environment for children who have struggled with traditional teaching methods in other schools. Even as our enrollment continues to grow, Marburn Academy remains committed to an 8:1 student to teacher ratio in grades 1-8.

At Marburn Academy, we believe that our instructional techniques should be scientifically validated and specifically tailored to the individual learning styles of our nontraditional students. Marburn Academy is accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham (O-G) Practitioners and Educators, and our faculty members receive training in this multi-sensory approach to language instruction

at no cost to themselves. Families come to Marburn Academy because they have trust in our teachers, our educational philosophy, and our instructional practices. Families stay at Marburn because our educational model yields remarkable student achievement.

It Begins With Our Teachers

“I am not a teacher that thinks all students learn the same way, from the same textbook. I am a teacher who believes in using a child’s interests and strengths to build a foundation for a successful educational experience. My philosophy is that there is no one best way to teach—every student learns differently (and each one can succeed).”

-Ms. Erika Feigles, Marburn Intermediate Division Teacher

Meet Jason LaudickMy name is Jason Laudick and I am the Co-Owner of Leo Alfred Jewelers in Dublin, Ohio. I owe a great deal of appreciation to Marburn Academy and the dedicated teachers who helped guide me toward a successful future. Marburn’s unique instructional approach helped me develop strategies that allowed me to deal with my learning differences and experience what academic success felt like for the first time. I also gained the self-confidence that has helped me in all aspects of life. Whether it was the patient teacher who stuck with me every step of the way or the kind administrator who offered words of encouragement, I felt like everyone at Marburn was rooting for me!

The skills I aquired at Marburn Academy remain with me today and have been crucial to both my personal and professional success. Marburn was an important part of my education, and it certainly changed my life for the better. I’m not sure where I’d be today had I not attended Marburn Academy.

“We are proud to have played a small role in Jason’s success as a student, businessman, community leader and most importantly as a husband and father. While a student at Marburn, Jason was invested and engaged in learning. That level of investment continued throughout his high school and college careers. Jason is a wonderful example of a young man that did not allow his learning differences to define who he is; but rather, his challenges made him stronger and more determined.” - Scott Burton, Associate Head of School

A Tribute to Mr. Earl Oremus, Head of School

As many of you are aware, Earl Oremus, Marburn Academy’s Head of School, has announced his upcoming retirement. For the past 27 years, Earl has brilliantly and tirelessly led our school, bringing us national recognition as one of the best independent schools for children with learning differences. His leadership has also resulted in the design and establishment of innovative programs that have changed how children and adults with learning differences are diagnosed and treated in Ohio and have empowered parents of bright children who have struggled in school to seek appropriate teaching. It is clear that Earl has truly made a difference for thousands of children and adults in Central Ohio and around the nation.

You can honor Earl and his achievements with a special Tribute gift to Marburn Academy’s Annual Fund. Your special gift will recognize Earl’s outstanding leadership and at the same time help ensure that the exceptional programs that have made all the difference in the lives of so many will continue.

“Earl has served the dyslexia community with extraordinary generosity. He is a sought after speaker, writer, and consultant. Earl’s uncommonly deep and refined understanding of our students and their learning process has inspired learning paradigms and environments that add value far beyond the borders of Marburn. His knowledge and influence has improved practice at LD schools across the country.”

-Lou Salza, Head of School, Lawrence School

Why support our Annual Fund?Gifts to the Annual Fund, along with income from our Annual Anniversary Gala, close the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Marburn education. Annual Fund contributions enrich the educational experience of every student, while also providing a scholarship vehicle for qualifying families. These tax-deductible gifts also support critical faculty professional development opportunities, program enhancements, and some of the school’s current year operating expenses. Not only are the funds raised important for these reasons, but also high participation from families and other constituencies illustrates to outside donors--like foundations and corporate partners--that the school is strong, valued, and worthy of support.
