DSCP a Major Player in the IDC S&OP MarketScape

DynaSys has been well known in French-speaking European countries for a long time and gained recognition outside of French-speaking countries in Western Europe as well. Getting on the global map for a historically regional solution, however, is easier said than done. Thanks, however, to the combined efforts of the DynaSys and the corporate teams, DSCP is now on the IDC MarketScape for the first time. IDC ranked DSCP as a “major player” in a tight grouping of the well-known group of global vendors in supply chain planning.

As a proof point that you can all use in deals, we have acquired distribution rights to aQAD/DynaSys specific report for the MarketScape and it is on Sales Resources. IDC was nice enough to refer to our offering as QAD/DynaSys DSCP so that the collateral can be used in both channels, and IDC went further to explain the dual branding approach.

In its profile of DSCP, IDC stated that, “DSCP is designed from the outset to provide optimal support and be an enabler for implementing S&OP processes by combining innovative technical features with powerful functionalities. The DSCP suite offers Single Click Collaborative technology, a multiuser, multiconstraint, and multilevel solution that enables collaborative in-memory simulations and approaches. This unique technology offers ergonomics to help users reach the best possible decision every day.”

In the News: DSCP’s Impact in the Beverage industry

In November, Supply Chain Brain, a leading supply chain publication geared toward manufacturing companies, published an article about DSCP in the beverage industry. The customer was un-named in the article but it was speaking about G.H. Mumm, the market leading international champagne company in France.

The article highlights some of the amazing results they received from implementing DSCP such as reduced finished goods inventories, lead time reduction and better visible of procurement needs.

There is a case study available on sales resources with all the details on how they have improved their supply chain. Please share this with your potential DSCP customers.

Industry News and Trends: Retailers, CPGs Divided on Assortment Priorities

Progressive Grocer recently had an interesting article that discusses retailers and CPG manufacturer’s differences of priorities on product mix and type of products offered. What essentially is being discussed is Consumer Products and Food Manufacturers and their customers, the retailers having a difference of opinion on whether product innovation is the sole drive of what is presented to the consumer or is it improving existing brands. The article is extremely interesting as it discusses how the CPG customer, the retailer, is driving the manufacturer and most importantly the impact on business and customer service. The premise is on collaboration between retailers and manufacturers that now focus on all areas of business from product design through distribution. Increased collaboration between these two groups can impact all areas of the business and most importantly all business systems.

As these relationships change, so will the business processes and systems that companies use. This on-going development fits perfectly with where QAD is growing in terms of product and automation offerings. Read the full article here.

all industries.  But for Consumer Product companies, never before have supply chains become more difficult to manage.  Brands are changing hands, companies are being bought and sold and the end consumer is more demanding as ever.  Technologies impact on product changes and designs have shrunken product lifecycles and severely complicated the supply chain.  Managing the supply chain from Item/Location demand through supplier agreements is one of the most critical and complex business processes.  QAD has a solution to help Consumer Products companies manage this process with Demand and Supply Chain Planning (DSCP).

Industrial & High Tech NewsletterMarch 2017

Industrial / High Tech coolness continues

It is 2017 and the results are in. Based on all currently available data, the Industrial and High Tech verticals remain the coolest of all the verticals. What continues to make Industrial and High Tech so cool is the diversity of the customers and their associated challenges.  This group of customers spans the entire spectrum of manufacturing orientation and supply chain complexities.   Industry 4.0 is more than just a number

It seems as if the whole world wants to talk about Industry 4.0. (or Industrie 4.0 if you prefer the European spelling). Industry 4.0 is embodied by two main buzz worthy topics known as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data / Advanced Analytics.

The “4.0” references what many consider to be the fourth major industrial revolution.

Read more...  Countdown on Explore – Industry 4.0 and Prizes too!

Explore is only 56 days away, so the time to talk to customers about Explore is now. Did I mention that Industry 4.0 will be a big topic at Explore? The Industrial & High Tech kickoff session will feature a guest speaker, Professor Pflaum, from Fraunhofer, a very large European consultant on all things Industry 4.0

And don’t forget that everyone at QAD can win prizes as part of the Explore recruitment contests:

North American & SAT Rep Contest

Reps for these two groups are assigned registration targets, and if they hit their target, they win an Amazon Echo Dot. For the highest achievement by a rep as a percentage of their target, they win a 13 inch iPad. Current standings are available in Q-force.

Influencer Contest

For everyone else, you can win an Apple Watch by talking to customers, and filling out this conversation log. If that customer then registers, you'll

get credit for that registration. Winners will be chosen for Regional Sales, Support, Presales / Business Consultants, Services, Marketing, and Other.  Industrial & High Tech Practitioner and Professional Courses

Just a reminder that the QAD learning center provides access to two levels of training for Industrial & High Tech and all of the lesser verticals. The Industrial & High Tech Practitioner level is available on-line and consists of twelve modules that cover everything from market segmentation through current manufacturing trends. (Did I mention Industry 4.0?) The regional schedule has also been posted for the in-person Professional level training events.  The Industrial & High Tech Professional level course further extends the insights into the manufacturing environments of QAD’s Industrial and High Tech customers. Both courses are recommended for pre-sales, services personnel and any other QAD employee who would like to add to their knowledge of manufacturing and what makes QAD customers tick.   Key QAD Wins in Industrial & High Tech Vertical

COMPETITIVE BITS C-Bit: “Money for nothing and your integrations aren't free - I don't want my....

SAP”

Harkening back to the huge Dire Straits hit from the 1980s, “Money for Nothing,” consultant Del Singh wrote a scathing warning to SAP customers on LinkedIn about SAP winning a suit against its customer Diageo to the tune of $67 million. Del stated that, “This $67M or the ‘Money for Nothing’ is for access to customer data SAP through 3rd party integrations - or what some would call indirect or limited access.”

14

Page 15: MARCH 04, 2005 - Cloud ERP Software for … · Web viewComplying With New Revenue Recognition Rules: Get A Head Start8 QAD’s Luc Janssen Named One of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s

Why such alarm? The $67 million is more than the $55 million Diageo already has paid in license and maintenance fees and “the precedent has been set in the high court SAP can legally go after all other users with similar indirect user instances.”

Singh further said that, “A number of people I know and who work in SAP consulting and support roles have been shell-shocked at the news that SAP gas sued its own customer, one even referred to it as the biggest case of ‘corporate mugging’ he's ever witnessed. He even went on to say that this looks line [like] a new revenue stream for SAP and may have been done to bolster the not so brilliant SAP HANA strategy.”

C-Bit: LinkedIn Users Share Plex Experience

In a recent LinkedIn group conversation, various Plex customers highlighted some potential pitfalls of the product:

Plex customers have concerns about being able to meet regulatory requirements Plex is not a good fit for some manufacturers, for example, it is not well suited for non-linear

manufacturing Plex customers have concerns about their ability to scale upward to match growth.

Yes Henry, it does “depend on the type of manufacturing” – and other factors, many of which Plex may lack.

C-Bit: SAP Platform Drops “HANA”, Focuses on Cloud, IoT, AI and UX

SAP announced a major expansion and rebranding of its cloud platform. SAP unveiled new enterprise app development resources, workflow tools, and cloud-based services for virtual machines, Big Data projects, machine learning and IoT applications within the platform. SAP is dropping the SAP HANA product name in favor of SAP Cloud Platform (the HANA name remains as its own product and as part of other offerings such as S/4 HANA,). SAP claims the name change is to reflect the 'far-reaching assembly of capabilities' that are now part of the platform. SAP was even nice enough to supply a picture of the platform.

C-Bit: Google Announces Strategic Partnership with SAP

Google announced a new strategic partnership with SAP focused on developing and integrating Google’s cloud and machine learning solutions with SAP enterprise applications. Features of the partnership include:

Certification of the in-memory database SAP HANA on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) New G Suite integrations Google’s machine learning capabilities Data Governance collaboration

The partnership provides Google Cloud enterprise credibility as Google chases AWS and Microsoft for enterprise-level business. SAP appears more modern to customers by having its offerings run on Google. It was also announced that the two companies are working on joint machine learning initiatives to be unveiled at the SAP user conference in May.

Despite the partnership, classic SAP issues remain, such as a recently failed implementation with Australian company Aurizon after three years, resulting in an impairment charge of AU$64,000,000.

C-Bit: Oracle Q3 Results Beat Earnings Estimates

Oracle announced Q3-FY17 results. Co-CEO Safra Catz, in the press release, stated, “"The hyper-growth we continue to experience in the cloud has rapidly driven both our SaaS and PaaS businesses to scale,"

Total Revenues were $9.2 billion up 2% as reported. Earnings per share beat analysts’ estimates coming in at $.06 above the high end of guidance.

Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) revenues exceeded $1 billion, up 73%.

New software license revenues fell by 16% which Oracle attributed to cloud migrations.

Regarding Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), founder/CTO Larry Ellison touted the “huge technology lead” over market leading Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, saying that IaaS will be the company’s largest cloud business in the future. Oracle’s IaaS revenues significantly trails those two market leaders and IaaS currently generates less than 20% of Oracle’s PaaS/SaaS business.

16

Page 17: MARCH 04, 2005 - Cloud ERP Software for … · Web viewComplying With New Revenue Recognition Rules: Get A Head Start8 QAD’s Luc Janssen Named One of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s

Despite Oracle’s strong cloud results, SaaS and PaaS revenues accounted for 11% of total revenue. QAD’s subscription revenues accounted for 20% in our most recent quarter.

C-Bit: SAP Ariba Joins Blockchain Development Initiative

SAP Ariba joined Hyperledger, a collaborative effort created to advance cross-industry Blockchain technologies, as a premier member. In addition, SAP Ariba is partnering with Everledger, a London-based Fintech company, to extend blockchain capabilities to the Ariba® Network. SAP Ariba believes that deploying blockchain across its cloud-based applications and business network will transform the way goods and services are traded.

C-Bit: Oracle Uses Pricing to Lock Customers into the Oracle Cloud

Oracle updated the terms of its license agreements to essentially double the rate customers must pay to deploy Oracle software on AWS or Azure clouds versus Oracle Cloud. Founder and CTO Larry Ellison recently stated that Oracle Cloud would eventually pass AWS and Azure in terms of IaaS, even though right now Oracle Cloud is tiny compared to AWS and Azure. It is not clear if this pricing move will motivate customers to switch to Oracle Cloud or not, but undoubtedly some customers will be upset.

By giving Oracle Cloud a huge price advantage for Oracle software deployments over other choices, Oracle also hopes to lock customers into a fully integrated vertical technology stack. SAP and even Microsoft do not change software pricing if deployed outside of their clouds and it is unlikely they will change that tactic. In another typical Oracle customer-friendly move, the city of Denver is facing a multimillion dollar charge from Oracle for license usage compliance issues.

Renolit have been running on QAD for some time. Their current sites had deployed a core model based on QAD 2014 EE. The Renolit team have a rolling plan in place to perform technical upgrades every two years to remain current on the QAD solution. However, the Renolit IT team were keen to take advantage of the new functionality contained in the latest 2016 version of QAD ASAP.

Key areas for Renolit included:

Future implementation of serialisation, quality and item attributes plus providing the base to implement QAD's Automation Solution functionality as a potential later phase

Use of the new YAB architecture in order to better manage and administer their 7 different domains, it's data and its functionality

Take advantage of other additional functionality included in the QAD 2016 EE release

The QAD team worked with Renolit to scope a technical upgrade from QAD 2014 EE to 2016 EE to be delivered over the course of this year.

After great work by the QAD team we received the signed paperwork for the upgrade late last week.

What's Next: Renolit has already started the project with an ambitious Go Live date of early August. The next project for Renolit is likely to be QAD AS followed by the possibility of a 2018 project to implement a new site in Spain. There will also be the next QAD technical upgrade. Stay tuned!

The company develops, produces and distributes exterior mirrors, interior mirrors, blind spot detection systems and a wide range of other automotive components. SMR has 22% of the global market share in production of exterior mirrors for light vehicles and is one of the leading experts for camera based sensing systems in the automotive industry.

SMR is a global corporation with world class engineering capabilities, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and a global customer base. Its broad customer base includes all major car makers in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

The EAM Project kick-off started in September 2016 and went live on the 1st of March 2017. The Project scope consisted of the following components:

Project Controls Purchasing Operations EAM and QAD ERP integration.

In addition to the software implementation there was also the challenge of translating EAM into German.

Most of the work was done by Andy Edwards, who did a great job in helping the customer getting familiar with the EAM solution. Although the customer discovered a critical issue just before go live Andy and the US support team were able to resolve this quickly, enabling the go live to proceed on schedule.

On March 1st 2017 the solution was transferred to production and on the first day new transactions were created successfully in the live EAM-environment as well as the linked QAD ERP environment.

What's Next: In the coming weeks some additional post go-live activities will be completed by Andy. R&D is still working on some translation issues but with the help of our German partner Kontext-e these will be resolved shortly.

Chaucer Foods

Vertical: F & B

Project: New Cloud DSCP Order

Location:  Hull, UK

Customer since: 1993

Chaucer Foods is primarily an ingredient business focused on the B2B sector, but has a niche retail business that is demonstrating real growth potential.

Chaucer's expertise and continuous investment in food technology and product innovation ensures it continues to lead the field in the development of innovative health & wellness ingredients to meet the growing trend towards healthy eating and nutrition. Chaucer's specialities include ingredients, re-hydrating, croutons, freeze drying, bread based products & fruit.

Chaucer serves it customers from a network of sites across the globe with production based in the UK, France, China and the US. The group has over 400 employees across their worldwide facilities.

Chaucer has been a QAD customer supporting their French operation for a number of years. Until recently there was no business strategy relating to ERP and Supply Chain solutions.

Chaucer decided to standardise their Supply Chain processes globally and began to investigate which solutions which could enable them in doing this. To support this they began a competitive review of the market in late 2016.

After engaging an external consultant a global requirements document was created and distributed to five vendors with an RFI approach firmly entrenched.

Chaucer chose QAD. Why? After the initial, and standard, beauty parade QAD decided to 'Challenge' the process. The UK team had devised a Demand Planning Campaign which was exploited to challenge the selection process, the scope and the project approach. Difficult! But in doing so, QAD achieved trusted advisor status.

This narrowed the selection to QAD DSCP and Demand Solutions.

Orchestrating the selection criteria, QAD entered into the final stages of decision making and provided a tailored demonstration using Chaucer data - a success!

The, diligently agreed, project sign off was delayed by two weeks due to an acquisition! However, the project was sold with no discounts!

Chaucer selected QAD DSCP because:

QAD are a partner they can trust! QAD DSCP is a great for F&B requirements The QAD global presence An integration platform for other ERPs A platform for growth - more than Demand Planning. Chaucer wanted a single system evolve to S&OP

What's Next: The project kick off meeting has already happened and the next stage of the project will see Chaucer work with the implementation team to begin modelling their supply chain structure. After the successful deployment of Demand Planning, the Distribution Planning and Production Planning modules will be rolled out globally. Plus we are also working on getting rid of SAP and Sage!

Page 24: MARCH 04, 2005 - Cloud ERP Software for … · Web viewComplying With New Revenue Recognition Rules: Get A Head Start8 QAD’s Luc Janssen Named One of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s

Oleo's history with QAD has been one of ups and downs. Originally part of Wagon Plc they deployed QAD as the group's corporate standard back in 2004. When Wagon went into administration in 2009 Oleo was purchased by UK engineering company Brigam from Wagon's administrators.

Oleo continued to use QAD in their UK & Chinese operations but further investment in the solution was not forthcoming. After many years utilising eB2 Oleo UK were of the opinion that their solution was outdated and archaic (after ignoring QAD's customer engagement recommendations over many years). In June 2016 they chose to go out to market and review Microsoft AX, QAD & Epicor.

The QAD team decided to challenge the usual beauty parade process and pushed back against the original plan from Oleo. We requested discovery time with the business stakeholders and also reintroduced Cloud into the equation (Oleo had discounted that option previously).

After delivering specifically tailored demonstrations addressing Oleo's future growth plans and the risks of not looking to future proof their next solution we were advised we had won the selection battle (interesting as at the start of the process we were told we were in third place!).

What's Next: The project kick off meeting will happen shortly and following that Oleo UK will begin work on migrating their QAD solution to the Cloud. Following the successful upgrade of the UK site, Oleo will look to upgrade their site in China to QAD Cloud ERP and potentially add a new site in India.

Bakkersland

Vertical: F & B

Project: Upgrade

Location:  Hedel, Netherlands

Customer since: 1997

Bakkersland is a dynamic group of companies in which love for the baking trade is combined in a natural manner with professional enterprise and an eye for what people want.

In 1999 ten progressive family companies came together to form Bakkersland. Since that time the company has

24

Page 25: MARCH 04, 2005 - Cloud ERP Software for … · Web viewComplying With New Revenue Recognition Rules: Get A Head Start8 QAD’s Luc Janssen Named One of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s

expanded significantly, in 2008 the acquisition of Quality Bakers Netherlands meant Bakkersland became the largest bakery company in the Netherlands and one of the largest in Europe.

Bakkersland has 17 bakeries, around 2,500 employees and turnover of 450 Million euros in 2016. The company's products are sold across Europe in over 20 countries.

Bakkersland have been a QAD customer since 1997, their last upgrade was in 2004 when they migrated to eB 2.1. The QAD team had discussed upgrades with Bakkersland on a yearly basis as part of our customer engagement program but there was a distinct lack of a compelling event. The software worked very well for the customer and they were extremely comfortable with the eB 2.1 solution.

That all changed in early 2016 when it was announced that Bakkersland were to be acquired by Borgesius, another Dutch family owned bakery company who had a standard of Afas (a local Dutch solution) for ERP.

Bakkersland were working with old software & hardware and needed help to build a business case why QAD was a better option than Afas to handle their heavily automated critical EDI and invoicing processes (daily 250,000 EDI order lines with a speed of 1100+ lines per minute).

In June 2016 the QAD team started an upgrade QScan to outline the impact & the benefits of an upgrade to 2016 EE. The QScan took 6 months due to the complexity of the many customisations and processes.

In November 2016 the takeover by Borgesius was made official and they started to speed up the investigation between the 2 ERP systems. Despite the fact that QAD had much richer functionality then Afas ERP, Borgesius was not impressed by our old 1980's interface (Bakkersland still use the Character UI), the complexity of the customisations and the 'fear' of a big American company. QAD was definitely lagging in 2nd place!

The QAD team invited the joint Bakkersland & Borgesius team (including Janet Borgesius, daughter of the owner & responsible for Group Finance and IT) to our Schiphol office to give them a presentation about the similarities between Borgesius and QAD (family company, employees, customers). The aim was to make them aware of our shared values as family owned companies as well as show them our latest product & new Channel Islands UX.

This presentation by Jan Mulder, Edward Duivenvoorden & Freesje Vos was very well received by Janet Borgesius, she was so impressed that after the meeting she finally decided to go for QAD!

One major challenge remained, agreeing a realistic time frame for the upgrade as they received a deadline from their biggest customer to align their processes. At the beginning of March the QAD team conducted a detailed workshop with both IT teams and discussed the possibilities. The outcome of this meeting together with daily calls was an agreement on both sides on the way forward. As a result we received the signed upgrade paperwork from Bakkersland last Friday.

What's Next: This challenging project starts Today! It includes new financials, customisation migration, multiple interfaces and a revamp of EDI. Phase 2 of the deployment will see the former Borgesius sites deploy QAD to replace Afas.
