A pot filler faucet above your stove is super handy and doesn’t have to be used just forcooking. Besides filling up a pot of water for spaghetti or boiling potatoes, you canalso fill a vase of flowers, fill up the humidifier, fill up water bottles before a familyhike, fill up a kettle for tea, and so much more.

Neighborhood Watch

With Spring and Daylight Savings Time just around the corner, this is a good time to review your security habits for both yourhome and cars. If you read the local social media, you areaware of reports of prowlers, many in other neighborhoods, looking for unlocked doors and pilfering cars that are leftunprotected. While we have additional security in NortonCommons, which we believe is helping to hold down thesetypes of crimes, your help is necessary if we are to furtherprevent them. At home, please lock your doors and set youralarms, During the day, it is still a good idea to keep your doorslocked and keep your garage door down. To help, there areautomatic garage door closers that will allow you to open and

close your door via wifi and close it automatically after a preset time. Keep you car locked at alltimes and valuables out of sight or in the house.

As always, Neighborhood Watch will send out alerts if there are active crime events in theneighborhood. We do not send alerts based on social media postings, since we have no way toverify the validity of those posts. If there is an event that needs to come to the attention of theneighborhood through Neighborhood Watch, after alerting the authorities first, then send a text oremail to your local captain or to Tom Miller at [email protected] or via text to 513-608-8935.

JAY’S CORNER: PROPERTY MAINTENANCE UPDATES

As you have probably noticed mulch has been installed in most of the neighborhood. As of thismoment it is expected to be completed either today or tomorrow. The mulching by BrightView isout ahead of what individual property owners will have done. This should lessen the temptation forlandscape service companies to over mulch the street trees when working on private areas. Thatbeing said, if you use a service for your beds and landscape areas please advise them to not addmulch to the street trees. Similarly, if you do your own mulch installation please refrain frommulching any trees in the verge strips.

The next step will be spring fertilizer and weed control applications by TrueGreen. This isscheduled for the latter part of this month or first part of April. Hopefully, this will invigorate someof the areas which took a beating late last season with the historic hot and dry conditions. Probably

somewhere in this same time frame mowing will begin. So, it is off to the races as another growingseason is upon us.

I am in a fairly major crisis personally at this point. Recently I purchased a new shirt-jacket to wearat work. It replaces one which was so old that it didn’t even have a cell phone pocket on it. It fitperfectly, sleeves just right, length perfect, weight ideal, and girth excellent. After you have a jacketthat long it becomes a part of you, closer than a tattoo. My new coat is, well, coming along. The fitis acceptable. It is hard to find one which has longer sleeves, smaller shoulders, and ample girthwhich is what my torso has morphed into. Sure I always did required the bit longer sleeve andscrawny shoulder set up. The girth is what has made the perfect fit hard to find. I paid nearly 40dollars for this thing which is and of itself is egregious. With that kind of investment I amdetermined to become one with this coat. Daily I resolve to wear it and forego my old faithfulfriend knowing that just one slip back to wearing it will make it all the harder to pursue life with thenew one. The obvious question begging for an answer is why a new coat anyway? Let me just saythis about that. I have had a 43 year association with one who does not always view my habilimentswith a likeness of mind, often finding unreasonable fault with any garment which may have a stainor two, a tear or two, or a raveling seam or two. Sometimes comfort and familiarity areoverwhelmed by appearance. Immediately preceding this purchase was a statement and athreat. Statement, “THAT THING HAS TO GO!” Threat, “NOW OR ELSE.” Long ago in this 43year association I learned that experiencing the OR ELSE was not a thing which encompassed allthe joys of life. Hence, this exorbitant expenditure and this season of acquainting myself with anew jacket. Here’s the light that keeps me going. If this new one last as well as the old one, my nextone may need to have little slots in the skinny shoulders to allow for my soon to be sprouting angelwings. And by then, people will say “Oh that’s just the way the old booger is, don’t mind him.
