March 11/ Marzo 2018 Fourth Sunday of Lent /Quarto Domingo de Cuaresma

Meditation on today’s readings:

"God did not send the Son into the world to

condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him."

John 3:17

We are saved by grace through faith (Eph 2:8). Jesus saved us especially by the grace of His death and resurrection. We are being saved by this good news "at this very moment" if we "hold fast to it" (1 Cor 15:2). Yet salvation is not only a past and present reality, it is future. "For if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Rm 10:9). The one who believes in the gospel "and accepts baptism will be saved" (Mk 16:16). Thus, if we have been baptized into Jesus and into His resurrection, we have been saved (see Rm 6:3ff). We are being saved at this moment, if we are being faithful to our baptismal promises. We will be saved from sin, death, hell, and Satan and saved for final victory, perfect love, heavenly peace, and eternal life, if we continue to live our Baptisms by resisting temptations, repenting from our sins, and obeying the Lord in all things. In three weeks, we will celebrate the first day of the Easter season. At every Mass in every Catholic church in the world, we will be invited to renew our baptismal promises. At that time, make the deepest act of faith you have ever made. Give your life totally to Jesus. Be saved! Prayer: Father , I accept salvation on Your terms. Promise: "God is r ich in m ercy; because of His great love for us He brought us to life with Christ when we were dead in sin." (Eph 2:4) Praise: Praise the crucified and r isen Jesus, Healer of the blind and "the Light of the world!" (Jn 9:5) Taken from “One Bread, One Body”

Meditación sobre las lecturas de hoy:

"Porque Dios no envió a su Hijo para juzgar al mundo, sino para que el mundo

se salve por Él." Juan 3:17

Somos salvos por la gracia mediante la fe (Ef 2:8). Jesús nos salvó especialmente por la gracia de Su muerte y resurrección. Estamos siendo salvos por esta buena noticia "en este mismo momento" si "nos aferramos a ella" (1 Co 15:2). La salvación no es solo una realidad pasada y presente, sino que es el futuro. "Porque si confiesas con tu boca que Jesús es el Señor, y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo resucitó de entre los muertos, serás salvado" (Rom 10:9). El que cree en el evangelio "y se bautice, se salvará" (Mc 16:16). Así, si hemos sido bautizados en Jesús y en Su resurrección, hemos sido salvados (ver Rom 6:3ss). Estamos siendo salvos en este momento, si estamos siendo fieles a nuestras promesas bautismales. Seremos salvos del pecado, de la muerte, del infierno y de Satanás y salvados para la victoria final, el amor perfecto, la paz celestial y la vida eterna, si continuamos viviendo nuestros bautismos resistiendo las tentaciones, arrepintiéndonos de nuestros pecados y obedeciendo al Señor en todas las cosas. En tres semanas, celebraremos el primer día de la Pascua. En cada Misa en todas las iglesias católicas del mundo, seremos invitados a renovar nuestras promesas bautismales. En ese momento, haz el más profundo acto de fe que hayas hecho. Da tu vida totalmente a Jesús. ¡Sé salvo! fe que hayas hecho. Da tu vida totalmente a Jesús. ¡Sé salvo!

Oración: Padre, acepto la salvación en Tus términos. Promesa: "Pero Dios que es rico en misericordia, por el gran amor con que nos amó, precisamente cuando estábamos muertos a causa de nuestros pecados, nos hizo revivir en Cristo" (Ef 2:4-5). INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK If we continue to journey through life without genuine self-knowledge, without knowing how our relationships ought to be ordered and what truth is, the path we walk will always be only dimly lit. In fact, when we make the wrong choices or find

ourselves forgetting who we are, we can easily find ourselves in darkness. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life." Jesus is the light that came into the darkness. It is not enough for us to simply believe that Jesus is the Christ but we must live our lives in witness to this truth. The choices we make and the priorities we establish are going to either speak of someone who really does not

care, someone who is confused, or someone who is wholeheartedly convinced of God's love. Which are you?

INSPIRACIÓN DE LA SEMANA Si continúa su jornada de la vida sin un autoconocimiento genuino, sin saber cómo deben estar ordenadas sus

relaciones y sin saber qué es la verdad, su camino estará solamente débilmente iluminado. De hecho, cuando tome una decisión equivocada o este confundido sobre su identidad z fácilmente se puede encontrar en una oscuridad. "Porque

tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo el que crea en mí no se pierda, sino que tenga vida eterna." Jesús es la luz que llegó dentro de la oscuridad. No es suficiente que simplemente crea que Jesús es el Cristo.

Debe vivir su vida como testigo de esa verdad. Las decisiones que tome y las prioridades que establezca dirán la verdad sobre alguien que cree, alguien que esté confundido, o alguien que esté verdaderamente convencido del amor de Dios.
