Hello Wildcat Families!
One of the most valuable tools that students can have
when it comes to math is basic fact fluency. Math fact
fluency is defined as having efficient, flexible and
accurate methods for computing. Each grade level has
different expectations for fact fluency by the end of the
school year. Kindergarten: addition and subtraction within 5 First Grade: addition and subtraction within 10 Second Grade: addition and subtraction within 20 Third Grade: multiplication and division within 100 Fourth Grade & Fifth Grade: Automaticity of multiplication and division within 100 Working with your child at home on their fact fluency is one of the best ways that you can support their math learning and growth. You can quiz your child in the car, practice skip counting or ask them to explain how they got their answer. There are many resources online or apps that are fun, yet helpful, in helping develop fact fluency. All you have to do is Google “Fact Fluency Games or Apps.” If you’d like resources to use with your child at home to improve their basic fact fluency, feel free to contact me. Thanks,
Margot Downie

School Visitation Update
This is just a reminder that anyone who enters our school (parent, guardian,
friend, neighbor, aunt, uncle, grandparents) must have school access
to attend an event at Osceola. This includes having lunch with a student, volunteering in classrooms, attend an
awards assembly, field trips, conferences..etc. If you have not already
done so, please complete the School Access Form. The process for approval may take 4 to 6 weeks, so please fill out the application sooner than later for any
guests that would like to have school access. Once the application is
approved, school access will be valid for three years.
If you’re not sure if you are cleared, please contact Sheila Lawshe at 904-547-
3780
District policy: “Any person passing beyond the front office area must show a valid driver’s
license or state identification card.” Please make sure to bring your identification
with you when entering our school to go beyond the front desk or pick-up a child.
