8. The Pasadena Junior Chamber of Commerce, more commonly known as the “Jaycees,” is proud to continue the Junior Chamber of Commerce Youth Intern Program for its fifth year. The program gives citizens under the age of 21 a chance to develop their networking and project management skills through our community service projects. They will observe Board and committee meetings and volunteer with Jaycees and like-

All Jaycee Youth Interns will receive a certificate of achievement and a letter of recommendation from the Pasadena Jaycees President at the Awards Luncheon held in their honor. Interested students should attend the Info Session on Wednesday, March 7th at 6:30 pm. at the Curtin House at the Pasadena History Museum, located at 474 W. Walnut St., Pasadena, CA 91103. Students may fill out an Intern Application online, which can be found at pasadenajaycees.org/internprogram

9. Do you love to read? Then join the Million Word Challenge. The challenge runs from February 13 -May 4, 2018. Students are encouraged to read one million words during the challenge. Earn prizes! See your English teacher for more information.

10. Attention students: Need a job? The Cafeteria is looking for students who would like to work during nutrition or lunch time. If you are interested see the cafeteria manager.

11. The Partnership for Success! is resuming their Saturday tutoring program at Polytechnic School. This is a FREE tutoring program. To register, please email Ines Asturias at [email protected] with the student’s name and the subject they need most help with. We ask that students are dropped off with their school materials so that we have a productive session. Students are also encouraged to attend if they are in need of a quiet space to complete their homework or school projects. The 1 ½ hour sessions will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on the following Saturdays:· February 24· March 3, 10· April 7, 14, 21, 28· There is no tutoring during May due to AP Exam tests and June is closed for the summer. All tutoring sessions will be held at Polytechnic School’s South Campus Library. The library is located on the top floor of the Poly building, accessible from the crosswalk at Cornell Road and Catalina Avenue, south of California Boulevard.

14. Attention Junior Boys: You are invited to apply to be part of the Boys State American Legion Conference that will take place June 16-23. The conference is being sponsored by CSU Sacramento. Delegates learn about leadership, responsibility and have a unique opportunity to participate in a fun-filled diverse educational opportunity dealing with the structure and responsibilities of state government. Interested Juniors can get an application from your counselor. Deadline to apply is March 19, 2018.

15. Each year the Asian Pacific Family Center and the Garvey School District hold an annual San Gabriel Valley Youth Summit. This year, the 9th Annual San Gabriel Valley Youth Summit, will be on Saturday, March 17th, 2018, at Garvey Intermediate School. Our collaborative event is FREE to all 6th to 12th grade youth from any background, ethnicity, and region. This year’s theme –“#DefiningOurFuture” – is meant to unite youth and others to address youth leadership, education, and empowerment. For more information, contact us at [email protected]. 1. HS Students - Looking for a meaningful way to volunteer in your community? The City of Pasadena is looking for volunteers who can help elementary aged children (ages 8-12) with assistance in math, reading, writing, science, and more. The Villa-Parke Community Center is located at 363 E. Villa St. Pasadena, Ca. 91101. The Homework Assistance program meets Tuesday - Thursday from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Homework assistance is needed for 1 hour. Volunteers will be required to complete a volunteer application. Anyone 18 & over will have to successfully complete a City of Pasadena LiveScan background clearance before volunteering. 1. The Pasadena – Altadena Chapter of Links, Inc. is announcing the 2018 Isaac McClelland Memorial Scholarship & the JPL scientist Dr. Claudia Alexander Memorial Scholarship. The students of Pasadena Unified School District are the recipients of these scholarships ranging from $500 to $2000. African American students entering a 2 or 4 year college or university in September 2018 are eligible. See your counselor for the application. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 2, 2018.

2. Belva Roberts was an avid supporter of the cooperative movement, and was active in her community and in legislative advocacy. Providing scholarships to help students further their college education was a source of great pride for Belva, and she truly enjoyed meeting and congratulating each of the students who earned a scholarship from CCSSM. Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 CCSSM Belva Roberts Leadership Scholarship, to help unlock a brighter future for a deserving and dedicated student, who is interested in leadership and government and/or student relations. 3. The Consumers Cooperative Society of Santa Monica Inc. (CCSSM) was formed in 1936 by a small group of individuals who worked together to enhance the lives of members and the community. 6. Graduating high school seniors of Portuguese descent, you can apply to the 2018 Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $500 each. You can download the application www.cabrillocivicclubs.org. Deadline to apply is March 15, 2018.

7. Attention Graduating Seniors: The "Italian Catholic Federation" offers $400.00 scholarships to Roman Catholic graduating seniors of Italian descent who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. 8. Hey Seniors! It’s Amara Young, president and now alumni of the Class of 2017. You guys are getting ready to move on to your next academic chapter and I want to help y’all out! The Amara Young Alumni Scholarship aims to honor college-bound students of color (black and/or Latino (a) Hispanic) on their passion for being involved on-campus or within the surrounding community. Tell me all about what you are involved in and why you are passionate about it. There are two $150 scholarships up for grabs. Deadline to apply is March 23, 2018. 9. The Pasadena Association of African American School Educators-PAAASE is offering their annual 2018 Eddie Newman Scholarship for eligible PUSD high school African American seniors. PAAASE will be selecting one student from each school. All students who meet the eligibility requirements and completely fill out the application will be considered. 10. Royal Business Bank is committed to supporting economically-challenged youth residing in its business service territories to fulfill their dreams of obtaining a higher education. The 2018 Royal Business Bank Scholarship Program is awarding 20- $1000 to high school seniors whom are planning to attend college as a full-time, degree seeking student in the fall of 2018. The scholarship is open to all majors and

11. The Taiwanese American Scholarship Fund is awarding 10 - $5,000 scholarships. Their focus is to help economically-challenged Taiwanese American youth fulfill their dreams of obtaining higher education. The scholarship is open to all high school seniors planning to attend college in the fall of 2018 and 1st year college students continuing their education in the fall of 2018.
