EPISTLE READING: St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 11:24-26, 32-40 Brethren, by faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to share ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets -- who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign enemies to flight. Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and scourging, and even chains and imprisonment. THE CONFESSION OF FAITH (Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed) I believe in one God, Father Almighty,

As the Prophets beheld; as the Apostles taught; as the Church received; as the Teachers dogmatized; as the Universe has agreed; as Grace has shone forth; as Truth has been proven; as falsehood has been disproven; as Wisdom has been presented; as Christ has rewarded.

This is what we believe; this is what we declare; this is what we preach, Christ our true God, and we honor His Saints in words, in thought, in sacrifices, in Churches and in icons. Christ, we worship as God and Master, and His Saints we honor as true servants of our same Lord, and accordingly we grant them veneration.

HOPE/JOY Meeting

Join us TODAY, Sunday, March 20 after Divine Liturgy for our next HOPE JOY meeting (K-5th grade students). We will have a light lunch and then the kids will hear a short presentation about Prosforo. After that, the kids will get to knead and stamp some of the bread dough. We will then go into the Sanctuary and Father Jarrod will demonstrate what the Priests do with the Prosforo during Divine Liturgy. What a great learning opportunity for kids and parents!

TODAY, March 20: Sunday of Orthodoxy Class begins at 9:30am. Please encourage students to bring an icon from home. Today, Church School students in grades 1-6 will be singing Communion hymns. Bookstore

Essential books for Great Lent are available in the Holy Trinity Bookstore. Lenten Liturgies is $29 and Salutations and Akathist Hymn is $22. The Bookstore is open each Sunday following the Divine Services.

Confessions

AHEPA Scholarships 2016

The AHEPA-DOP District #12 Foundation, Inc is offering five $1500 scholarships for 2016. Three are for high school graduating seniors, and two are for college undergraduates. Lenten Retreat

Save the Date! The Lenten Retreat will be held on Saturday, April 16 at St. George Orthodox Church at 10748 East 116th Street, Fishers. Registration and a light breakfast will begin at 9:30am. Holy Friday Retreat

Please mark your calendars for the Holy Friday Retreat on April 29. There will be programs for preschool-12th grade students.

Myrrh-Bearers

All girls ages 9, 10 and 11 years old are invited to serve as Myrrh-Bearers for the Holy Friday Evening Service on April 29. Practice will be Holy Friday afternoon at 1pm. Recycle Plastic Cups during Coffee Hour

The Green Team is requesting that Parishioners put the plastic cups in which juices and water are served in the Recycle Bin near the front of the Library. A Green Team member will be present to help Parishioners dump any remaining liquid into a provided container before depositing the cup in the bin. Thank you for your cooperation.

Soup for the Hungry Please bring flip-top cans of soup to Church, and put them in the blue Philoptochos bin. The soup will be given to patrons of the Soup Kitchen as a takeout. Chicken Noodle soup is preferred.

Early Bird Registration - St. Nicholas Summer Camp - July 24-30, 2016 Registration for St. Nicholas Summer Camp is now available online! St. Nicholas Camp provides a perfect opportunity for the Youth of the Metropolis (ages 8-18) to gather during July 24-30 for faith, fun and fellowship in an Orthodox Christian setting. Holy Communion Holy Communion is the Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Saint John of Kronstadt (1829 – 1908) says, “in partaking of the Holy Sacrament, be as sure that you partake of the Body and Blood of Christ, as you are sure that every moment you breathe air.”

Saint Cyril of Jerusalem (about 313 – 386) also teaches us “Since Christ Himself has declared the bread to be His Body, who can have any further doubt? Since He Himself has said quite categorically, ‘This is My Blood,’ who would dare to question it, and say that it is not His Blood? Therefore, it is with complete assurance that we receive the bread and wine as the Body and Blood of Christ. His Body is given to us under the symbol of bread, and His Blood is given to us under the symbol of wine, in order to make us by receiving them one body and blood with Him. Having His Body and Blood in our members, we become bearers of Christ and sharers, as Saint Peter says, of the divine nature… Do not then regard the Eucharistic elements as

ordinary bread and wine: they are in fact the Body and Blood of the Lord, as He Himself has declared. Whatever your senses tell you, be strong in faith.” The Lord urges us to make a sincere effort to make peace with each other when anger or hurt exists, seeking forgiveness or granting forgiveness, as appropriate, (Matthew 5:24) before approaching the Lord. Receiving Holy Communion is certainly important to our spiritual life and growth. This ultimate connection with Jesus Christ is a gift which God gives to us and one which should be accepted gratefully and responsibly. Our Church teaches that receiving Holy Communion frequently is encouraged. Our Church also teaches that a preparation is expected. Preparation for Holy Communion can vary from person to person. The minimum preparation to receive Holy Communion is to fast from meat on Wednesday and Friday and not eat anything on the morning, prior to receiving Holy Communion. For those who must take medication that requires food, they are permitted to eat that which is necessary for their health. Furthermore, the Church teaches us to fast on particular days during the year and especially during the four main fast periods. These four main fast periods are in preparation of holy days of the year, as follows:

December 13 - 24 (Nativity of our Lord) Great Lent (before Holy Week and Easter) Monday after All Saints’ Day through June 28 (the Apostles) August 1 - 14 (the Dormition of the Theotokos)

Each of us is encouraged to approach the Chalice to receive Holy Communion in love and in peace, gratefully and responsibly.
