AriesRomance flows freely in your life this month. It always does at this time of year. There could be some real surprises along these lines. Persons could step from the shadows with flowers for you. Persons you had never considered romantically before could pursue with vigor and visa versa.During the last half of the month you shift to matters regarding your employment and health. There could be advancements on the job or you could take major steps to improve you health at that time. On the last day of the month, a matter regarding where you live could and should be finalized. Clear and sound thinking make whatever is occurring to come together in a very solid and beneficial way.

TaurusThe home front is looking so right this month. Any improvements you have made or are working on pay big dividends during the first half of this month. If there are things that you would like to change regarding you abode, this would be the right time to undertake that effort. The results will be very satisfying. The last half of the month has you focused on your romantic life. There will be many opportunities at this time with people you would not normally find yourself attracted to. Still, take the risk and experience something new and different. You could receive a very meaningful romantic communication on the last day of the month. It will be safe to take it face value and trust it.

GeminiThis will be an interesting month for you as the emphasis is on communication. There could be a flurry of information coming your way. The problem is Mercury is retrograde for the month. You may have to triple- check that information before releasing it to others. The last two weeks of the month will find you drawn to your home. Something there calls to you and the backyard barbeque looks so inviting. A home improvement project could find its wheels during this period with surprising results. On the last day of the month, there could be something of a very solid agreement reached that could effect you for sometime to come.

CancerYour money is highlighted this month. It’s all good news, though. You may be feeling the effects of a budget put into place months ago, thus resulting is a surplus of funds. Also, changes that you could have made at the personal level bear meaningful fruit during this two-week period of April. After the middle of the month, communication picks up in your life. Be mindful that Mercury in retrograde could effect the flow and content of that communication. Try not to take anything at face value, but check out it’s validity before you accept it. On the last day of the month you could receive a very meaningful insight about yourself. This something could be of a very solid nature. What a nice gift from the heavens.

LeoYou’re bubbling with energy this month with the Sun and Mars in your 1st house of self. The energy last for three weeks and it’s a good time to get out there and do the projects you’ve been thinking about. During the month, there could be confusing signals and signs coming from your Committed Other. Postpone taking action on joint money matters until after the 11th. Good luck could come your way during the last half of the month in areas regarding resources and cash. Long forgotten loans and favors could suddenly be repaid to your surprise and pleasure.

VirgoNormally, this is your month for taking it easy, but April finds you dealing with a behind the scenes well spring of energy that must be dealt with or there could be consequences to your health that would be hard to diagnose. Seek ways to alleviate the pressure. Also try to avoid overindulging in food or drink during the last half the month. Friends could provide you with some solid moneymaking opportunities this month. Be patient and hear them out. You could reap some handsome profits and do it quickly. On the last a day of the month, you could make a new a long lasting friend. There is also the possibility of receiving a gift that could last you a lifetime. How nice for you.

LibraActivities with friends sweep you through this April with fun at every turn. Short trips during the first two weeks could find you in lovely surroundings. If you must travel, make sure you triple check everything before you leave with Mercury retrograde all month. The last half of April could provide you with some surprises on the job and regarding your career. Some will be very visible and some will come from behind the scenes. Career changes made on the last day of the month will be the most beneficial and long lasting.

ScorpioThe career sector is jumping with activity and excitement this month. You may be thrust into the limelight over your accomplishments. There could be major advancements and pay increases from ideas and hard work you have put forth. Traveling for business or transactions at a great distance work best on the 17th. Double-check all the figures before agreeing to anything though. If you must travel this month, wait until the last day when aspects favor a journey filled with peace, smooth sailing and quiet joy. Traveling with friends is also favored. There could be some surprises from them along the way.

SagittariusJoint money, taxes and insurance will hold your attention for the first two weeks of the month. Good news could be coming your way, just when you needed it the most. Careful planning may be required to stretch funds after the 21st, at a time when you feel the pull of the open road and the need to get away from it all. If traveling is on the agenda, remember to triple-check everything like schedules, planes tickets and reservations. The last half of the month finds you in pleasant company and focusing on your committed other. Solid ground may be gained with this person if you remember to listen closely to what they are saying.

AquariusPersonal committed relationships dominate your life for the first three weeks of April. Renewed romance and enthusiasm could find its way back into this area. If you’re not in a committed relationship look for happiness to come through your business partners. Remember to acknowledge them for all they do in your behalf. It will pave the way for the remainder of April. During the last half of the month your focus shifts to shared resources. A quick accounting of the joint checking account could find you with a surplus of cash you did not expect to find. A quick, spontaneous trip may be in the offing. Be mindful that Mercury is still retrograde until the end of the month and could move to foul your fun.

PiscesYour job scene is hopping with action and fun this month. You could get a raise or a promotion, or both. Your health should be in tip-top shape so get out of the house and move around. This would be an excellent time to start a new diet or exercise plan. During the last half of the month your focus shifts to partnerships and serious relationships. They are blessed with some great aspects. If you’re planning on popping the question, wait until the last day of the month to do so. At that time the planets line up to really cement anything started on that day.

Earth Day 2012by Emily CoxApril 22 is Earth Day, and people in the U.S. are becoming more and more frustrated with the governments lack of involvement in taking steps toward protecting the environment and the Earth. This year marks the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day and the battle for a cleaner world. It all began when Senator Gaylord Nelson, of Wisconsin, was growing concerned about the health of the environment, and the U.S. government's apparent lack of attention to the issue. Thus, the seed of Earth Day was planted and has continued to grow ever since. Earth Day has come a significantly long way since the first celebration took place on April 22, 1970, and every year more and more people are becoming aware of how important it is to take care of our planet. It really is dire that we all pull together to help. This battle has gotten harder as the climate continues to change, as well as other environmental anomalies are becoming more extreme by the second. Everyone needs to help out and be a part of Earth Day. There are many ways to use energy most people don’t even know are available. By educating ourselves on healthier ways that help the planet, we can move closer to a cleaner, healthier environment; but everyone needs to pitch in and lend a hand. Get motivated and help make a change in our world. Channel that motivation into building a clean and healthy world for generations to come. After all, we only have one planet. This year, there are many campaigns going on for Earth Day 2012, all over the nation. Events such as: Arts For the Earth, Athletes for the Earth, Campaign for Communities, Earth Day University, Earth Day K-12, Eco Faith, Reading for the Earth.Ten simple ways you can help out this Earth Day:• Switch to a renewable energy supplier.• Go Carbon Neutral.• Switch them off ! Appliances still use electricity when they're not being used - unless you turn them off completely.• Use high-efficiency light bulbs, they last up to twelve times longer than a normal light bulb.• Get your home checked out to receive a report on how to conserve power in your house• Be water-wise. • Shop ethically. • Think before you drive. Car journeys may sometimes be unavoidable

Don’t hesitate! Jump in any way you can. Help save our plant so it will be here for years and years to come. Visit www.earthday.com for more facts and ways you can help!

2012: The End of the World?by Emily CoxThe official date is set. On December 21, 2012, a series of events are said to take place that will cause the end of the world. Utter chaos and mass hysteria will take place, and as the date is fast approaching, people all over the world are beginning to panic. There are many different rumors circulating as to how the world will end. Whatever the cause, though, thought that 2012 will be the last year that any human will walk the Earth is literally driving people mad. From earthquakes, to floods and tornados, every natural disaster known to man, and even those we can’t begin to fathom, are expected to occur. As many sources have stated, “Death will wash over the world like a giant tsunami, taking every piece of flesh in it path.”In an interview found in the article, “2012: Six End-of-the-World Myths Debunked,” published in the National Geographic, one man was quoted saying, "I've had two teenagers who were considering killing themselves, because they didn't want to be around when the world ends. Two women in the last two weeks said they were contemplating killing their children and themselves so they wouldn't have to suffer through the end of the world." Television shows such as “Doomsday Bunkers” and “Doomsday

Preppers,” are sending more people into fear, as well as the 2010 movie “2012”. Individuals everywhere are taking drastic measures. Panic is already setting in, and we are still 8 months away. Rumors of how the world will meet its end have been swarming for years now. Such as the pole shift, the Mayan prediction, the galactic alignment, solar storms, and even Planet X

meeting Earth. Centuries ago Mayan’s said the world would end at the end of their calendar year; for us that is December 21, 2012. The calendar began back in 3114 BC and went on for thousands of years. In a recent study, it was discovered that leap year wasn’t included in the Mayan calendar. The system of three 365-day years followed by one 366-day Leap Year didn’t begin until 47 B.C during the reign of Caesar. If we take this into account, we are actually 500+

days off putting us behind where the Mayan calendar says we should be which is August of 2013. Therefore, according to the Mayan calendar the world should have ended several months ago. Other myths that are proven to be untrue include the collision of Planet X, called Niburu, with Earth. If this was actually the case, several NASA scientists said it would be visible to the naked eye by now. The polar shift theory was proven wrong as well. The shift is said to cause the Earth’s poles (north and south), and magnetic fields to be destroyed. It is impossible to reverse the rotation of the Earth on its axis. It is true that continents are slowly drifting, but they cannot reverse the positions of the poles. (for more on this go to: http://www.cpraward.org/the-year-2012.html) Whether you believe the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012, or simply think it’s a myth brought out by the media and human fear, the date is still steadily approaching. Do you believe? If so, how do you plan to survive?

by Daniel StephenSome students believe that college is easy; that you can slack off and wake up late in the day, go to class for 2 hours then go home, and just have less of a burden overall. Well I’m going to tell you that is absolutely incorrect. College is not an easy task to complete. It requires careful planning and execution, a firm knowledge of time management, organization, dedication, and perseverance. One does not simply go to college; consider a full time job.

Obviously to even go to college you must first graduate high school, but that’s not all you need. You will have to complete the ACT in order to apply to most colleges. Most colleges and universities require at least a 19-20 on the ACT, but that’s not all they look in making their decision to accept a student or not.

Think of it this way: Pretend you’re a basketball coach, you have to make a choice for the last open spot on your team, and your two choices are Shaquille O’Neill, and a third grader. You make them shoot a free throw to see who will make the cut. The third grader makes it, Shaq does not. Would you choose the third grader just because he made it? Or would you choose Shaq because he plays well more consistently? When colleges look at your transcript, they are looking at a number of things. Your overall GPA for high school, being one of them. That being said, you still have to score well

on the ACT, just keep in mind that’s not all that matters.

A lot of students will tell you that one the hardest decisions you have to make is deciding what college or university you want to attend. That is understandable

considering that the choice could very well determine how the rest of your life, or at least the next 4 years, go.

An obvious first step in choosing a college would be to make sure that they offer the degree you are interested in. The next thing to take into consideration would be whether or not you want to go to school in the state you currently

reside in, or an out-of-state college. Going along with that, you need to decide if you want to go to school in a big city or a small college town.

When looking for a college to go to you, you have to keep in mind the tuition cost. In state colleges are going to offer you a lower tuition rate than out of state schools will. To give you a general idea of how much tuition costs in Missouri, I have listed some of the schools tuition rates for Missouri residents.

College tuition does not include book fees or equipment fees, it only includes the cost to actually be “in” the class. Some classes have an extra fee, but not all. Most of your science and music classes are going to require an extra fee. Some will also require you to have multiple textbooks. Textbooks can cost upwards to a $500-$1000 a year.

College is obviously a costly experience, and every part of it needs to be considered, from textbooks, dorm fees, food, etc. With college having such a high price tag students need to make sure that he or she is going for the degree he or she really wants. The last thing a student wants to have is a degree, and debt, that won’t get him or her where he or she wants to be. So as a student, think long and hard, do your homework (as in, educate yourself on the college’s you’re considering attending, get a high ACT score, and try for scholarships. Every little bit helps.

In the United States today, many people celebrate Easter Sunday by going to church services to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many also dye hard-boiled eggs, or use plastic colored eggs containing candy to hide for children to find in what are known as Easter egg hunts.

Easter is a feast day held on the Sunday following the paschal full moon. Easter was decided to be on a Sunday for the obvious reason that Sunday is the day Christians have dedicated to Christ. So why the Sunday following the paschal moon? The paschal full moon is the date of Passover in the Jewish calendar, therefore, Easter is the Sunday after Passover.

The name of this Christian holiday is unknown. However, some sources say the word “Easter” comes from “Eostre”, the Teutonic goddess of spring and fertility. Other sources say that Easter is originated from the Latin term “hebdomada alba” which translates to “white week,” a reference to Easter week and the white clothing donned by people who are baptized during this time.

Most think of Easter as just a one day celebration. However, the Christian church thinks of it as a whole season. “Lent, the 40-day period leading up to Easter Sunday, is a time of reflection and penance and represents the 40 days that Jesus spent alone in the wilderness before starting his ministry, a time in which Christians believe he survived various temptations by the devil.”

This season is filled with many different religious days such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. Each of these days has a scriptural meaning behind it.

Aside from the various celebrations in the United States, many other countries recognize the holiday, as well. In Africa, Christians have an Easter Vigil which many people attend. They decorate the churches with clothes in the shapes of things that they feel represent Easter, such as butterflies or flowers. After the church service, a customary dance is held where women sing religious

songs. After the festivities, everyone returns home for a family feast.

In Australia, there’s no one way to celebrate Easter Sunday. Some individuals celebrate the day by going to a church service where they have hot cross buns for breakfast. Children are given Easter eggs, which are made up of either chocolate or sugar, and often have toys inside. A few years ago, chocolate bilbies (a rare animal found in Australia) have also been making a big appearance. Many families

also have a dinner together.

Easter Sunday is a widely celebrated holiday. However, there are a million different ways to celebrate it. Many of these seem to have one thing in common, though. Religion. So this Easter, whether you’re dying Easter Eggs, hunting them, or getting together with family, you now have some extra knowledge as to how this holiday originated. http://www.history.com/topics/history-°©‐of-°©‐easter

Sexual Harassmentby Kailie Brissett April is sexual harassment month, but many aren’t sure what constitutes as sexual harassment. In 2011, one in every six people were sexually harassed in a workplace and school environment. Out of that, 43% say it was from a manager, and 51% say in was from a peer or co-worker. While sexual harassment is taking place among both genders, it is more likely for a woman to report sexual harassment than a man in a 35% to 21% ratio. Sexual harassment can seem innocent and meant as no harm at times, but there is a very fine line, and one that is very easy to cross if you are not aware of what sexual harassment is. Sexual harassment includes: unwanted jokes, gestures, offensive words on clothing, and

unwelcome comments, and repartee, touching, and any other bodily contact, such as patting a coworker’s back or shoulder, grabbing an employee around the waist, or interfering with an employee’s ability to move. repeated requests for dates that are turned down, or unwanted flirting. Transmitting or posting e-mails or pictures of a sexual or degrading nature, displaying sexually suggestive objects, pictures, or posters, playing sexually suggestive music. These are only a few examples of what constitutes as sexual harassment. Although 50% of the women who have experienced harassment at work or school say that they simply try to ignore it, these same women lose 10% productivity on average. About 24% of harassment victims take time off just to avoid the harasser, while 10% choose to leave their jobs, or transfer schools because of the harassment. Sexual harassment happens every day in schools, work places, on the street, even while shopping at the mall, or driving your car. It’s around us every day and the people who are doing it need to be stopped. What one person may think is joking around, or having fun, can be considered offensive to others, so one must always be aware of how they act and what they say. Sexual harassment, just like bullying, is out there, so be aware of what’s going on in your every day life. If you see it happening, or if it is happening to you, put a stop to it. Find a trusted adult, teacher, counselor, or administrator to talk to. Don’t let it continue. Educate yourself and be aware.

Presidential Raceby Keegan CunninghamWith the presidential elections approaching, and as a first time voter myself, I am very excited to get to put forth my opinion. With this in mind, I have set out to explore other students’ and teachers’ views on this upcoming election, as well as bring about the most recent results on the presidential race. Many students that I have asked have told me the same things in different words. “I don’t care”, “doesn’t matter to me”, “I’m not voting”. But it does matter. This election will determine the way we live in the United States for the next four to eight years. It is a big deal. Get out and vote!

Mrs. Lock: “I think Mitt Romney will winthis election. I think it’s scary to get rid ofObama though before his 8 years. I can’twait until it’s over. I hate all the bickering!”Senior Josh Scott: “I think Obama will win. He has been doing a great job and still has work to do. I’m excited because I’m a first time voter, and I think it will be a close race.”Mrs. Corey: “I think Obama will win because he has proven in the last four years that he is right for the job.”

April Fools’ Dayby Keegan CunninghamApril 1 is a day dedicated to jokesters and pranking. Known as “April Fool’s Day”, this is the time to let loose and have fun, but all pranks are supposed to end by midnight. Any pranks done after the clock strikes 12 are said to bring bad luck to the prankster. Some say that the meaning of April 1 originated in France when King Charles IX ordered a change to the Gregorian calendar in 1582. New Year’s Day was then moved from March 25 through April 1, to January 1. People who hadn’t been informed of the change, or didn’t accept it, were pranked for it. This is said to have been what led to April 1 becoming the day of fools. This, is only one assumption as to the origination of April Fool’s Day. Experts have several theories, though, but this has been the most popular thus far.

April Fools Pranks Around the World• There's something fishy going on in France. Kids fool their friends by taping a paper fish to their backs. When the victim discovers the fish, the prankster yells, "Poisson d'Avril!" (April Fish!)• In Portugal, April Fool’s Day is actually celebrated on the Sunday and Monday before Lent. The big trick there? Throwing flour at your friend's face.• In Poland, everyone takes part in April Fool’s Day activities, including the media, and sometimes public institutions. All serious activities are completely avoided for the day. A favorite joke? Pouring water on people.• According to a CareerBuilder.com survey, 32 percent of workers say they have either initiated, or been on the receiving end of an April Fool’s Day prank at work.• In certain areas of Belgium, children lock out their parents or teachers and only let them in if they promise to give them sweets.• Depending on where you live in England, instead of a "fool" you could be called a "noodle," "noddy," "gobby" or "gob."• In 1998, Burger King introduced their “Left-Handed Whopper” simply to pay tribute to April Fool’s Day.

sTattoos: A Growing Trend

by Kailie BrissettTattoos are a growing trend in today’s society. Tattoos are simply pictures that we can have on our bodies permanently. We use our bodies as a huge canvas to express our personality. Many people used to be against them, but for the past decade or so, it’s become more socially

acceptable. A lot of students have tattoos now. In Saint Joseph, the law used to state that you had to be at least 18 years of age to get a tattoo unless a parent signed a consent form but that has now changed; you must be 18 years of age now. Period. Despite this law, many teenagers under the age of 18 have found ways to get tattoos, one way being having a friend or family member do it. The important thing to remember if you’re wanting to get a tattoo is to make sure it is something that you won’t regret later on down the road. The tattoo should be something you’re proud of, and not something you would be ashamed of and unwilling to show to your friends and family. As I went around the school, I asked 10 students at random if they had a tattoo or are planning on getting one. All 10 either already had one (or more), or were planning to get one soon. I then asked adults that are in their late 20‘s to 30‘s the same thing. While not all of the adults I spoke with had a tattoo, none of them objected to other’s decisions to have one. When I went to ask an older generation of adults, most of them had some objections about people tattooing their body, partly because of religious beliefs, and partly because they grew up in a society where it wasn’t as socially accepted as it is today. We all have the right to our own

opinion, and we all have the right to do what we wish to our own bodies. Although, if you’re considering getting a tattoo, you need to also consider the risks, and remember, it’s going to last for a very long time! Be safe about it, go to a professional. Lastly, take proper care of it. After all, why spend money on something you can’t enjoy in the long run?

“Moonlih an Roses”by  Devyn  AuxierProm  has  been  a  hot  topic  all  year,  and  with  it  quickly  approaching,  everyone  is  scrambling  to  Cind  a  date  and  the  perfect  ensemble  for  it.  Many  students  have  heard  about  the  tales  of  previous  proms,  which  has  deCinitely  built  up  some  anticipation.  Now  it’s  our  turn  to  have  this  perfect  night.  So  what’s  our  prom  going  to  be  like?  This  year,  the  prom  is  being  held  at  Mitchell  Park  Plaza  from  7pm  to  10pm.  The  rooftop  will  be  accessible  for  pictures  before  the  prom  so  come  early  to  get  your  memories  taken.  There  will  be  a  DJ  who  has  been  given  a  list  of  music  suggested  by  Benton  students.  Also,  cookies  and  punch  will  be  served.  Last  but  not  least,  a  lot  of  people  have  been  asking  about  this  years  theme.  The  theme  for  prom  is  going  to  be  “Midnight  and  Roses.”  Now  that  invitations  have  been  delivered,  and  prom  is  just  around  the  corner,  there  are  many  decisions  to  be  made.  Should  you  go  as  a  group?  Where  will  you  get  your  pictures  taken?  What  will  your  plans  be  after  prom?  In  a  survey,  half  of  the  students  answered  that  they  will  be  going  to  prom  in  a  group,  and  that’d  they’d  most  likely  be  taking  pictures  and  going  out  to  eat  before  prom,  although  many  aren’t  sure  where  yet.  It’s  important  to  know  whether  or  not  the  restaurant  of  your  choice  takes  reservations,  and  how  early  ahead  you  can  make  them.  Some  popular  restaurants  in  town  that  take  reservations  are:  El  Maguey,  Olive  Garden,  San  Jose  Steakhouse,  Boudreaux’s,  Barbosa’s,  and  54th  Street  Grill.  Students  planning  on  taking  pictures  before  prom  aren’t  sure  where  to  do  that,  either.  Many  popular  locations  in  Saint  Joseph  that  are  good  for  formal  picture  taking  would  be:  Krug  Park,  Hyde  Park,  Riverfront,  City  Hall,  and  thanks  to  the  location  of  the  prom,  you  are  now  able  to  take  pictures  on  the  rooftop.  So  what  to  do  after  prom?  Most  students  said  they  were  going  bowling  with  friends,  or  just  plan  on  hanging  out  with  friends  at  their  house.  With  large  crowd  the  bowling  alleys  have  on  the  weekends,  a  reservation  for  a  lane  or  two  will  probably  be  needed  as  well.  Some  other  things  that  you  could  do  after  prom  are  rollerblading,  ice  skating,  or  just  hanging  out  and  watching  movies  or  playing  games.  There’s  also  been  a  little  controversy  concerning  the  requirements  to  get  into  the  prom.  Many  kids  think  that  some  of  the  requirements  aren’t  fair,  while  others  think  that  they’re  easy  to  fulCill.  Regardless,  if  you  are  planning  to  attend  prom,  make  sure  you  fulCill  all  of  the  requirements.  To  be  able  to  attend,  you  must  have  a  75%  attendance  rate,  have  no  suspensions  on  record,  maintained  passing  grades,  and  have  all  your  payments  owed  to  the  school  paid  off.  Most  who  don’t  think  these  are  fair  requirements,  can  still  go,  however.  No  matter  how  you  plan  to  spend  your  time  before  prom  or  after  prom,  where  you  plan  to  take  pictures,  or  whom  you’re  going  with,  the  most  important  thing  is  to  be  safe  and  have  fun.  Prom  is  supposed  to  be  an  incredible  night  that  everyone  can  enjoy  and  remember  for  life;  a  night  where  you  get  to  be  a  carefree  teenager.  Take  advantage  of  that  and  have  the  best  prom  you  can  possibly  imagine.

Overnight Cherry Danish RecipeIngredients: 2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast, 1/2 cup warm 2% milk (110° to 115°), 6 cups all-purpose flour, 1/3-cup sugar, 2 teaspoons salt, 1 cup cold butter, cubed, 1-1/2 cups warm half-and-half cream (110° to 115°), 6 egg yolks, lightly beaten, 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling. ICING: 2 tablespoons butter, softened, 3 cups confectioners' sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, Dash salt, 4 to 5 tablespoons half-and-half cream.

Directions: In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add the yeast mixture, cream and egg yolks; stir until mixture forms a soft dough (dough will be sticky). Cover and refrigerate overnight. Punch down dough; divide into quarters. Roll each portion into an 18-in. x 4-in. rectangle; cut into 1-in. x 4-in. strips. Place two strips side by side; twist together. Shape into a ring; pinch ends together. Repeat with remaining strips. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes. Using the end of a wooden spoon handle, make a 1/2-in.-deep indentation in the center of each roll. Fill each with about 1 tablespoon pie filling. Bake at 350° for 14-16 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool. For icing, in a large bowl, beat butter until fluffy. Gradually beat in the confectioners' sugar, vanilla, salt and enough cream to achieve a drizzling consistency. Drizzle over warm rolls. Yield: 3 dozen.

Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Spread into a greased 9-in. springform pan. Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen. Remove sides and bottom of pan. Chill for 10 minutes. Peel off waxed paper; break chocolate into 2-in. to 3-in. "twigs;" set aside. For filling, in a small saucepan, combine the sugar and cornstarch. Stir in milk until smooth. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until slightly thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes longer. Remove from the heat. Stir a small amount of hot filling into egg yolks; return all to the pan, stirring constantly. Bring to a gentle boil; cook and stir 2 minutes longer. Remove from the heat. In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over water; let stand for 1 minute. Stir into custard until gelatin is dissolved. Add chopped chocolate; stir until smooth. Cover surface with plastic wrap; cool to room temperature. In a large bowl, beat cream until soft peaks form; fold into chocolate mixture. Carefully spoon over top of cake. Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until set. Remove waxed paper strip from side of cake. Position chocolate "twigs" around top of cake to create a nest. The custom of giving eggs at Easter time has been traced back to Egyptians, Persians, Gauls, Greeks and Romans, to whom the egg was a symbol of life.

Miami Sets Sight on 2012 WrestleMania Rock and Cena set sight on main eventBy Jered Ross

WrestleMania is less than a month away and fans are going wild in anticipation for what will be the main event of the night. Miami will be the sight for the showdown between two WWE legends and superstars. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and John Cena, will battle it out in what could be the biggest match in WrestleMania history. WWE will take place at Sun Life Stadium where the Miami Hurricanes and Miami Dolphins play. It is also the hometown of The Rock. Going up against his rival Cena, The Rock seems more than confident he will beat him. The two superstars, who have verbally fought on numerous occasions on shows such as Monday Night RAW and Friday Night Smackdown, will finally get the chance to take it out on each other physically. “This match means so much to me.” said Cena, after vocally expressing his feelings about the upcoming match. “The headlines will read ‘John Cena Beats The Rock at WrestleMania 28’.” he went on to predict. These two men clearly have no respect for each other in any sense of the word. “I’m going to stick my size 15 boot up John Cena’s lady parts.” The Rock was quoted saying in response to Cena’s prediction. This is only building up the excitement for fans who have been anticipating this huge match up since its announcement early last year. While the event has been sold out for weeks, fans not lucky enough to have a ticket can watch it live on Pay-Per-View on April 1. Don’t miss this legendary event!

There were so many people who didn't think I could throw because I was small but I proved them all wrong. Q: How long have you done track and field?I have been in track and field since I was in 6th grade

Q: Which coach has had the biggest impact on you?I'd have to say Coach Allen. Not only has he been my track coach for 4 years, but he was my volleyball coach for 3, and he is always there for me when I need him to be. He is there for advice and for help. He's the person I turn to when I need inspiration or if I just need a friendly face.  Q: What is your favorite school to attend away track meets? Excelsior Springs

Q: What do you do in the off season? (other sports, activities, training?)I always played volleyball in the summer and fall, and during the winter, I participated in the play. I also train by myself in the off season so I can be in better shape during actual season. Q: What is your favorite subject? AP 2-D Portfolio, because the class is a comfort zone for me and I love to just lose myself in my art.

Q: What are you looking forward to about college?I look forward to studying what I am interested in and focusing on my future.  Q: What will you miss most about track?Being able to compete with familiar people. Though I can probably keep throwing, I won’t be able to compete with the people who I have formed bonds with over my 4 years of throwing.

Q: How do you feel this season will go?I feel really great about this season, I have been throwing on the top of my game and getting better everyday. This year my goal is to make it to state in discus so I have to train hard to make it there.

Q: What other sports do you play?I play Volleyball  Q: Are you involved in other extracurricular activities? If so, how long have you been involved with them?Theatre 9-12Spanish Club 9-12NHS11-12Art Club 9-12Book Club 11-12Interact Club 12FBLA 12

Benton Faces Rainy Start to Spring Sportsby Sami Kretzer On Monday, March 26, the Benton boy’s baseball team walked onto the baseball diamond of Hyde Park, field 6, after a long awaited start to the spring season. It was a disappointment to the ball players and fans alike to have to wait a full week to play the game but, there’s no stopping the rain. The annual City Round Robin was set to start the March 19 at Missouri Western State University. This tournament kicks off each city team’s season. Due to the heavy amount of rain, though, the men and women in charge of scheduling, decided to call it off. This year was the second time in ten years to be canceled due to rain. The long awaited start to the season ended in extra innings in what resulted in a 3-2 loss against Maryville. It was a nail biter from the very first pitch to the last plays, leaving the whole crowd on the edge of their seats in anticipation. Clayton Tiffany pitched the first eight innings of the game and relief pitcher, Nick Zawodny, came in to finish the rest. Together, they had a combined total of eight strikeouts against Maryville’s offense. Senior Steven Smith, went 3-4 during the game with the top hitting average for the team. Senior, Tyler Rich came in to hit for sophomore Dillon Mattice in the 6th inning. The boys played their second game of the season Tuesday night against St. Pius. The team came out on top, winning 8-2 in what felt like a redemption match after Monday nights loss. The boys took the good with the bad and improved on their weaknesses. Overall, the team was looked more prepared going into Tuesday night’s game and what was to come. Senior Lucas Powers, had an impressive catch in the outfield, robbing the opposing team of what would have otherwise been a home run. That home run could have potentially given St. Pius a run for their money and shot at making a comeback against the Cardinals. The Cardinal boys baseball team were scheduled to play Thursday, the 29th in an MEC matchup against the Smithville Spoofhounds at Smithville, but once again, the rain has caused the game to be rescheduled for today, March 30 in Smithville. The next home game for the varsity team is Thursday, April 12, against Bishop LeBlond. Be sure to come out and show your support for the Benton Cardinal baseball team!
