For cattlemen and cattlewomen, ranching is more than just an occupation. It’s a promise to consumers, a commit-ment to the environment and an honorable way of life, where the values of honesty, integrity and hard work are part of the job description.

NDSA members recognize the importance of preserving and enhancing this way of life for this and future genera-tions.

That’s why they established the North Dakota Stock-men’s Foundation (NDSF) in 2008 – to provide unique op-portunities in beef-related promotion, research, scholarship, leadership and building and to leave a legacy behind for their children and grandchildren. The Stockmen’s Founda-tion is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, which means that most contributions are tax-deductible for donors.

While only a few years old, the NDSF has made several contributions to the beef industry, like the $20,000 dispersed in disaster aid in 2009 and the nine scholarships awarded since 2008.

As the Foundation continues to grow, so does its com-mitment to the beef industry. Thanks to the overwhelming support of NDSA members and friends, the NDSF will offer four collegiate scholarships to North Dakota youth in 2012.

We are excited for what 2012 has in store for the Foun-dation as we refl ect on the generosity and contributions of beef industry supporters in 2011. Thank you to everyone who purchased Rifl e Raffl e tickets and 50/50 raffl e tickets and to those who attended the fi rst annual NDSF Ranch Rodeo in Antler and the Inaugural Stockmen’s Ball in Bismarck. We also thank those of you who have honored your loved ones with a memorial contribution. You are collectively building upon the state’s vibrant heritage and leaving a legacy for future generations of North Dakota beef families.

More than 500 people gathered on a hot Sunday in August to test their cowboyin’ skills against their neighbors.
