Be True to yourselfPosted by haw

Is often due to things we hear or things we see others do, We tend to doubtourselves. we are all built with our own instincts in ways of dealing with a matteror how we comprehend to a matter.. some we do not agree with and some attrackour interest but no matter what you see or hear..go with what you feel inside..yourGut instinct .is your intelectual mind speaking to you . even when in doubt yourIntelectual mind will come up with the questions to ask on a matter that mayconcern you or interest you to further knowledge.. being that all of us cannotwithold all the information of various topics or reasoning or purposes. we draw

from that in which seems to work for us and continue with what we do..

Never let anyone force their Ideals on you to persway you to do things youwouldnt usually or your mind seems iffy about.. of course on the iffy part canpartly be fear ..in which should never fear ..fear in this is lack of confidence inyourself and lack of confidence in yourself is lack of trust of your higher spiritworking through your inner thoughts..

which tends to be compared to thinking out of the box..which I am noticing is morehaving to think out of the box more lately ..things of the conformed way of what wehave known for so long seems Bland or doesnt configure corectly in yourmind..when this whole time one doubts their intuition and stay with a conformedunderstanding ..you become inhabited to ideas for long periods of time..but whenyour mind speaks up and you tend to listen..this will make thingsconfusing..because our minds do not work in a conformed way of.. It never did..

we just took what was givin to us as normal and accepted it calling ourselves

keeping it simple in that with daily life..If more were to think out of the box and entrusted their inner power and thinkingthings could be allot better.. Trusting in your mind and intuition is trusting in thehigher powers that gave you this power and gift to See things for what they are andto maintain and continue..

Allways be true to yourself..as many think one way and say ..No cant be..but yes itcan..I allways say if you think it its possible ..depending and via the energy yougive to the thought ..

as many would give thought to fear above all above trusting in something

positive..this whole time fear exist but positive outlook or possibilities doesnot..why is this?

something is wrong in that..and some do it for the excitement of things or drama.

I have often wondered would people be totally satisfied if there were no fear ordrama..

and I am not sure in that..but would definitely help Life form progress on this Earthand it is not just for us but those generations to come..

Dont doubt yourself in what you may feel you know even if is questionable ..findout why..never losing site and feel of your instinct..

you never know it may help influence an outcome in life in the future for others..weeach as one have the power to change the whole..

Trust in yourself and dont try to configure with the normal everydayunderstanding you grew up with..its a trap we all been in at times..

    Forgive yourselfPosted by haw

Is many times we trial and error life and is how we learn..for some can beminimal or extreme but they feel they have to try out of curiousity and at times wefind ourselves into a scenario quite different then what we wanted..sometimes thesescenarios are above our comprehension and by the time we do figure it out we feelis too late and we have made a mistake and sometimes does involve how we actedtoward others or treated another and even losing friends due to this..

I have seen so many go toward a direction I knew myself wasnt good but yet theyhad to go find out for themselves. and you cannot stop people from that kind ofdesire or do we have the right to stop them..we can suggest and show them bothsides. but are some not quite convinced and just have to see for themselves..

and after time rolls on and different things happen for better or worse ..

in times of the worse when one sees they have taken a route that is not what theyhoped and by then have lost friends or trust from others ..you have to simply

forgive yourself and not holding against yourself for making a mistake..too many Ihave seen feel this way and it hinders them around others as with what shamewould do.

and those who feel guilty for where they been but have seen a brighter side awayfrom that experiment of curiosty there is nothing saying you cannot continue to bethe true person you are..we all make mistakes correcting them arent so easy attimes.

but for those depending on the extent they went through to investigate a situationor way of dealing ..they must continue..some will understand some wont..

I have seen many take a path not highly suggested in my book..but is their choicenot mine..I am limited to that as anyone else is..

  • 7/29/2019 March 2013 Enchanted Forest Magazine

    9/50

but I have not changed in who I am so if this person comes back after going downthat uncertain path and sees they have made mistake..at that moment that person isthe same person I knew before they experimented. and most dont hold grudge inthat as such due to someone else choice ..it is wrong..it may be sad or dissapointingto some to see..but only by their own knowledge of knowing what comes out of it

and dont want to see another go through the same.. is why many are so opted tosay wo wait no you dont want to do that ..because they know and in most cases itworks out the same for all.. are some who stay with that experiment and find it istheir Life choice but will have new friends ..

Never hide from who you are as long as you try and try to be positive in anythingyou do and your efforts mean well then you have nothing to worry about. forgiveyourself .

we are not all perfect by no means..are those though who have been down that pathand took a hard road and do know to help others see before entering..all we cando..

and dont hate yourself for a decision that may have went bad its all the same whenwe try to progress and what we have known doesnt seem to work or its gottenboring..

sometimes it just is ..but is allways possibility for positive change at any givinmoment with how things are in your life at that time.. give it a chance dont be hastyand dont jump into something your unsure about without investigating andunderstanding why people suggest what they do either way..

    Much Peace

The Correllian Nativist TraditionPosted by Willow Raine

Merry Meet friends. Ive been a member of this community for quit some timenow. Many of you know me but did you ever wonder about my Tradition?Probably not! LOL But sure as the sun rises and the moon sets there is a place Iplant my roots that has nourished me and given me title. They have rewarded myhard work and commitment with clergy degree. Everyone has a teacher in magick. The Correllians taught me and are still teaching me many great things. Ourtradition is headed by Rev. Don Lewis High-Correll. He is a direct desendant of ourFounder. Heres a few facts I can share with you. Maybe youll see a part of me I

dont often share with others. I have been Correllian over 10 years! The Correllian TraditionHistoryOriginally the Correllian Tradition was not always known as that. The Traditionwas founded by Orpheus Caroline High-Correll in 1879 (1479 Pisces). She was awoman of Scots-Cherokee ancestry, she is claimed by some members of the High-Correll Family to have been a Scottish Traditional Witch. She was also a practicingpsychic, a spiritual healer, and a herbalist. She spent many years traveling with herhusband, John Correll.

In creating the Correllian Nativist Tradition of Wicca, Orpheus Caroline drew uponher Native American heritage, as well as the ideas of the European Witchcraft,Spiritualism, and Hermetic views.

The early history of the Correllian Tradition is a little unclear, with familial andreligious structures wholly interconnected. But we do know that the familyfollowed a very formal, matriarchal and matrilineal structure with its roots inCherokee custom, from which the current office of the Correllian Tradition derivetheir form.

Core BeliefsYou may have detected a theme so far in this description: no two Correllian groupsare exactly the same. They are almost as much a collection of individualists as Theyare a Wiccan tradition. They do, however, tend to share certain fundamentalcharacteristics:

  • 7/29/2019 March 2013 Enchanted Forest Magazine

    11/50

They all honor the Ancestors from whence we came - and the living Correllians too, when their turn comes to cross over, will also remain active in the Tradition, for it isa commitment of more than one lifetime -a multi-generational project oftransformation and regeneration of the Earth and its cultures which will take manylifetimes.

They celebrate the 8 Wiccan Sabbats, as well as 26 Esbats of the yearThey tend to emphasize worship of Deity over the working of magic, and oftenrefer to themselves as a "teaching tradition"They acknowledge and respect the entirety of the Wiccan Rede - and they alsobelieve that the Rede is not open for interpretation. They acknowledge and respect Tenets of Faith as cornerstones of our livingphilosophy. They seek to balance themselves with regards to Nature and Deity. There may be other interesting similarities or differences between Correllian

groups, but this list encompasses most of the fundamentals.

HolidaysCorrellian Nativist Tradition of Wicca recognizes and celebrates the 8 commonWiccan Sabbats (Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lammas, andMabon), and most groups meet on each of the 26 New and Full Moons (or Esbats)of the year. They also honor the Ancestors. And there are a few groups who alsohonor particular Ancestors of the Tradition, in the form of both birth/or natalceremonies and commemorative ceremonies.

Standards of ConductCorrellian Nativist Tradition of Wicca asks its members to live their lives accordingto the precepts laid down in the Wiccan Rede. They tend to respect the law of Threeand attempt to live their lives in a manner respectful of Deity, the Earth and otherpeople. Many people believe a Correllian education is significantly more strenuousthan an education in some other traditions, and the Correllian Nativist Tradition ofWicca has historically admitted to demanding a fairly high level of dedication and

    commitment from its students.

Role of ClergyThe Correllian System allows freedom to decide on your own path. Aftercompleting the first degree, you can then decide if you wish to become a member ofthe clergy or just use what you have learnt for your own personal knowledge andgrowth.

  • 7/29/2019 March 2013 Enchanted Forest Magazine

    12/50

If you decide to become a member of the Tradition, there are two paths that you cantake. One is becoming an Outer Court Member, which is if you wish to enter theCorrellian Tradition, but not become an initiated clergy member. The other is becoming an Inner Court Member, which makes you an initiated clergy

member of the Tradition. It is the Inner Court which gives the Tradition shape andstructure, and to which They hold proud.

For the Inner Court there are nine stages/structures:

    1. Dedicate - who has made a formal commitment to study for initiation into theFirst Degree of the Clergy. The Tradition study period is a year and a day.2. Postulant - who has made a formal commitment to study for initiation as a FirstDegree Priest/ess but who has not yet received the actual initiation.

    3. First Degree - who is familiar with the details of the Wiccan faith, having athorough grounding in Wiccan philosophy and traditions. Should also be able toanswer most questions about Wicca on a practical (as opposed to the philosophical)level.4. Second Degree - who is able to take any role in ritual, and answer most questionsabout Wicca, whether practical or philosophical.5. Third Degree - who forms the High Priesthood of the Tradition.6. Order Head - An order is an association within a Temple dedicated to aparticular subject, such as ecology, healing, music etc.7. Director - A member of the Temple's Board of Directors.8.Chief Director - Chief Director of the Temple.9. Temple Head - The Chief Priest/ess of a Temple.

Ways of WorshipMost Correllian groups observe the Esbats with a Circle ritual, for which there is acommon liturgical format. The exact execution of the circle may vary depending onthe group, but most follow along a similar line. As stated before, the Correllian

Tradition emphasizes worship heavily over the working of magic, though groupsmay perform magic in circle if they feel a need or desire to do so. Many Correlliangroups also teach the idea of living a magical life, and in so doing, encourage theirmembers to worship Deity throughout the course of their everyday lives.

    A Child's EulogyPosted by Foxxy

A friend's sister fell victem to violence while trying to acquire drugs, after'escaping' her rehab facility. The family was all aware of her issues, and why drugshad taken control of her life, Needless to say, they were hurt and disappointed byher choices. But during her funeral, when the time came for the eulogy, no one wasprepared to speak first. Her not-yet 5 year-old nephew took matters into his ownhands, with the help of his 9 year-old brother.

After disappearing from his father's side in the pew, the long scrape of a chair was

heard. The boy got up on the chair behind the podium, tapped on the mike acouple times then spoke:

"Please excuse the delay, but my grandpa and great-grandpa are so upset that theycan't speak yet, so I'm going to tell you my favorite memory of my Aunt ___." Atthis point the congrigation was tittering, if not just giggling.

He continued, " Aunt ___ loved skittles, but only the red ones. So when we had

skittles we'd sort out all the red ones for her, and I'd get the rest." He went on toadd that he'd dole out the others to 'older women' and get hugs and kisses for them, which brought on gales of laughter. But that wasn't his point. He explained thatshe loved the red skittles so much, that she'd eat them even if they made her sick orgave her a cavaty; that some people just can't control their desire for 'Red skilltes.'At this point his brother stood up, moved to the front pew, opened a huge bag ofskilttles, and started passing them out, while he concluded, "Let's all remember myAunt ___ with some Skittles."By this time his father had made it to the podium, and somewhat shyly admitted he

had had no knowledge of his sons' plans. Then spoke for himself.

My boys' great grandmother died, very early morning, the Friday before Mother'sday. The funeral, by jewish law, had to be performed before dusk, especialy due tothe fact it was Sabbath at sundown. Since the funeral was at 2, we had to pull theboys out of school and take them with us. They were both close to her, and wantedto go.

The service was read at grave side, as is tradition, then her survivors in order of ageand relationship, each in turn, began shoveling dirt onto her plain pine coffin. Ilooked around and discovered my youngest son missing. A moment later thesound of a car door was heard, he ran back, came to a skidding halt on top of themound of dirt (scaring the bejessus out of several of us), dropped something pink

into the grave and started shoving dirt atop it with his hands. Everyone waslooking at me as if I had any explanation. I didn't.

Much later that day I learned he'd given G'gran the Mothers Day present of hugs, kiss, and chore's IOUs that they'd made in school. While I'd have been happier tohave at least seen his handiwork, I had to agree that, from his perspective, sheneeded "the love" more than I did. Our boys were 6 and 9 at the time, and had beenvery much aware of her declining health - which was why I had taken them to seeher the previous evening: so they could say their good byes. Even if her funeral hadbeen at a different day or time, they still would have gone. From my perspective itwould have been harder to explain the idea of 'funeral' to children that had nocontext for the word.

There are those who say children should not attend funerals. "It's too scary" is themost oft repeated excuse I've heard. Yesl It can be scary. Adults don't like to facethe idea that not only will they loose friends and family, but eventually they toowill be 'lost.' If the concept is so difficult and disturbing for adults, we assume it

will be hard, if not impossible, for children. But why is it scary in the first place?

Is it because we were never taught how to deal with this inevitablity? Do we avoidtaking our children because they' might be confused or scared? Or is it that wedon't have the tools to address the situation honestly and calmly? Do we not knowwhat to say? That question never made sense to me because if you've been raisedin any sort of religion, or religiously-backed society, the 'answers' to "Where havethey gone?" is common knowledge. Perhaps if we adults had experienced death ina straight-forward manner as children, we would be less uncertain of how to

explain it to others. There are advantages to farm life.

Instead we try to shield them. If their turtle or goldfish dies, we replace it beforethey get home from school. Meat comes from a clean brightly lighted store, not theback of the barn or slaughter house. Many children don't even learn about thecycles of live that are inevitable 'seasonal' changes. Yes, they experience them, butthey don't often understand what they mean.

  • 7/29/2019 March 2013 Enchanted Forest Magazine

As Pagans, we have the advantage of believing that this is not our SOLE experiencewith life - a gift beyond measure if one's honest with oneself. That surity for me hasgreatly muffled the loss of Herm. Unfortunately, not many Monothists believethey'll have another chance, and death is potentially a permement parting, depending on whether you're headed for heaven, hell or purgatory.

Yet here a preschooler, who lives on a farm and has been taught the cycles of lifehonestly, calmly and in language he coudl comprehend, was able to 'break the ice'at his aunt's funeral, when her closer relatives were as yet unable. What's more, because he was told about his Aunt's problem with drugs, he was also able tocorrelate a child's passion for candy to her own drug abuse. Intentinally or not, hecame upon the perfect analogy for her death - her making choices that were not inher own best interests.

My own son's gift to his greatgrandmother is a priceless memory.

Out of the mouths of babes, often comes truth.

    Blessings, Foxxy

On February 10, people all around the world will ring in the Lunar New Year with

paper lanterns and firecrackers. At the heart of it all sits the snake, a slithery reptilefeared for its sharp fangs and revered for its undeniable charm. (Watch videos ofsome of the world's deadliest snakes.)

Those born in the Year of the Snake are said to be intelligent and quick thinking, but they can also be dishonest and prone to show off. Though based on Chineseastrology, some of these traits are similar to characteristics of the actual serpent.

Snakes are known to be great at outsmarting their predators and prey. Their

colorful, patterned skin makes them some of the best tricksters in the animalkingdom. And despite a bad rap as frightening creatures, snakes never fail tofascinate scientists, explorers, and zoo-goers. (See pictures of snakes.)

With more than 3,400 recognized species, snakes exhibit incredible diversity ineverything from behavior and habitats to skin colors and patterns.

"As a vertebrate lacking in limbs, all snakes look largely like other snakes, yet theysucceed in tremendous diversity in multiple directions," said Andrew Campbell, herpetology collections manager at the University of Kansas Biodiversity Institute.

To usher in the Year of the Snake, Campbell and herpetologist Dennis Ferraro at

University of Nebraska-Lincoln weigh in on some of the snake's qualities that theChinese zodiac predicts people born this year will have.

Horoscope: Snakes have an innately elegant personality but can also be ostentatiousat times.

In Nature: Snakes come in all different colors, patterns, and textures, making themsome of nature's most visually stunning creatures.

According to Campbell, the utility of their coloring falls into two main categories: touse as camouflage and to warn predators to stay away.

Among the most beautiful are the emerald tree boa (Corallus caninus)whosevibrant green body is decorated with white stripes resembling lightning boltsandthe Brazilian rainbow boa (Epicrates cenchria), characterized by its iridescent skinand the large black rings down its back.

For some snakes, the diversity in color occurs within the same species, which iswhy Ferraro tells his student not to identify snakes by colors. For example, thepolymorphic bush viper (Atheris squamigera), many of which are green, also comein shades of yellow, orange, red, and blue, as captured in photographer GuidoMocafico's "Serpent Still Life" photo series.

Horoscope: The snake is known to be the master seducer of the Chinese zodiac.

In Nature: Female garter snakes (Thamnophis) have all the luck with the

    gentlemen.

When a female garter snake is ready to mate, she announces it by producingchemicals called pheromones. Males, upon encountering the scent, immediatelycome crawling out and gather around the female in a large, wriggling "mating ball."

The competition intensifies when a male passing by the ball tries to fool the othersby producing a scent that mimics that of the female, said Ferraro.

    20/50

As soon as his rivals are led off in the wrong direction, the trickster slides right in.In areas with smaller populations of garter snakes, each ball consists of about 12males and one female. But in places like Manitoba, Canada, where garter snakestravel to certain areas to mate after coming out of hibernation, a mating ball canhave thousands of males and only a hundred females.

Horoscope: Though snakes don't often tell lies, they will use deception when theyfeel it's necessary and they think they can get away with it.

In Nature: When it comes to using trickery to catch dinner, or to hide frompredators, snakes are no amateurs.

Their sneaky techniques range from tricking fish to swim right into their mouths, toplaying dead when threatened, to using their wormlike tails to lure in prey.Themost cunning of them all is the two-headed snake. To protect against a sneak attackfrom behind, the two-headed snake's tail looks just like its head. While the businessend looks for food, the snake coils up its body and rests its tail on top to look like itis on guard. The tail can even mimic the behavior of a retreating snake to trick predators intothinking they're going face-to-face with their opponent.

Horoscope: When snakes get down to work, they are organized and highlyefficient, and they work quickly and quietly.

In Nature: While snakes are often perceived as lazy, Campbell said people aremistaken. "What we perceive as shy, lazy, or inactive is really efficiency," he said.

"On average, they are bigger than other lizards and can build a lot of body mass. They do that by being efficient in feeding and traveling." In other words, snakesdon't move very much because they don't have to.

When it comes to food, snakes catch prey that are significantly larger than them so

they can eat less frequently. This reduces the time they spend hunting and thusmakes them less vulnerable to falling victim to a predator themselves.

For Campbell, the most impressive hunter is the eastern diamondback rattlesnake(Crotalus Adamanteus), which is able to hunt and kill its prey very quickly usingvenom, so it doesn't have to travel far. "Because they don't have to do that, they canbecome relatively large and heavy, being able to build up body mass and nothaving to spend that energy hunting."

Horoscope: Snakes are charming, with excellent communication skills. In Nturea: For snakes, their visual and auditory senses don't mean much when itcomes to communicating with each other.

Instead, they use their sense of smell and the chemicals produced by their muskglands. Unlike mammals, a snake picks up scent through the forks of its tongue.

When the snake retracts its tongue, it inserts the forks into grooves in an olfactoryorgan located at the roof of its mouth. Depending on which fork picks up a strongerscent, the snake knows in which direction to go when looking for prey or a mate.

It's when snakes are threatened that they use sight and sound, said Ferraro.Rattlesnakes, for example, shake their tails, making a loud rattling noise to ward off

    predators.

Dream as imaginaryPosted by Willow Raine

In the dream state, you create any reality that you desire. In a dream, you canbe with anyone you imagine and in any surroundings that you choose. In a dream, you might be walking through the local scenery, then suddenly switch to driving ina car and, finally, be flying through the air to get somewhere more quickly. Thebackground scenery can change from one scene to another in a split-second.When you awake, you may dismiss the dream as an imaginary, fast-changing

jumble of pure fantasy. After all, when you come back into the cold, solid light of

the physical world, the dream world seems so unreal. But is it? Are all dreams justyour imagination running wild, or are those scenic backdrops really created aroundyou within the very fabric of the dream world?

What about those times when you awake from a dream that seemed so real only tofind it hard to believe that it wasn't real? And yet, you've been taught to believe thatdreams are never real, so then you struggle between that in-built belief and the factthat you've just had a very real dream experience.

For example, in a dream, was that really your favorite granddad visiting you, or didyou just make it all up?

Now, here is the surprising secret. Dreams are real. Very real, when you aredreaming, you are out of your physical body and functioning in your spirit body inthe spirit world.

The fabric of the dream world, or spirit world, is called etheric energy. Mystics callit the 'astral light' but, technically speaking, its correct name is ethero-magnetic

energy. The substances of the physical world, on the other hand, are composed ofelectro-magnetic energy. Your spirit body is composed of etheric energy and so isthe world that surrounds you when you are in the spirit, or astral, world.Etheric energy responds instantly to your thought commands. If you want tochange your appearance - shape shift - then just think it, and it will be so. If youwant to change your surroundings, just imagine a new set of surroundings andthey will appear. At least, to your perception, they will, and to anyone in your closeproximity.

  • 7/29/2019 March 2013 Enchanted Forest Magazine

    23/50

Those surroundings are created for you temporarily, as a backdrop, by the power ofyour imagination. The real surroundings of that location are independent of yourimaginative creations, which survive only for as long as you pay attention to them.In the spirit world, these mental creations are called thought forms. The morepowerful your ability to mentally focus, the larger and more vivid you can make

your thought forms. Within the spirit world, they are solid to the touch, as are thebodies of other spirits.

This demonstrates that, in the spirit world, your imagination is very real as itcreates new realities instantly. In the physical world, your imagination createsrealities over time. In fact, new realities manifest only after you have applied thenecessary physical action in order to organize them in the physical world.

Physical realities don't just manifest out of thin air like they do in the spirit world.

You have to intend them, energize them with your feelings, and then walk themthrough the steps that will enable them to become physically manifest usingexisting materials.

The common key between the dream world and the physical world is thatimagination creates realities. In the spirit world, they manifest instantly and inaccordance with the degree of your mental focus. In the physical world theymanifest slowly, also in proportion to the effort that you invest in making themhappen.

Never let it be said that, "It's only your imagination." In the saga of life, yourimagination is everything. It is your creative faculty. It has, quite simply, the powerand the potential to change the world.

Baked in apple piePosted by Blazing Eagletree

5-6 Granny Smith apples (make sure they can stand on their own)1 tbsp. cinnamon1/4 cup sugar1 tbsp. brown sugarpie crust (homemade or pre-made)

    1) Preheat oven to 375F.

    2) Cut off the top of 4 apples off and discard. Remove the inside of each apple with

a spoon or melon baller very carefully, as to not puncture the peel.

If youre a skilled interior apple excavator, salvage as much as you can so you canuse it for Step 2. I, on the other hand, am not skilled so I just had to throw myinterior apples away and chop up additional apples for filling.

    3) Remove skin from remaining apple(s) and slice very thinly. These apple pieceswill give you the additional filling needed to fill the four apples you are baking.

Mix sliced apples with sugars and cinnamon in a bowl. If you prefer more or lesscinnamon make adjustments as desired. Same goes for the sugar.

Scoop sliced apples into hollow apples.

    4) Roll out pie crust and slice into 1/4 inch strips. You can also add a strip of pastryinside the top of the apple almost like a liner to add a little more texture/sweetnessto the pie.

Cover the top of the apple in a lattice pattern with pie crust strips.

    5) Place apples in an 88 pan. Add just enough water to the cover the bottom of thepan. Cover with foil and bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for anadditional 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown and sliced apples are soft.

Walking in SpiritPosted by Wanidi Tana

Too often we worry about the words we use in prayer. We focus on the words. What really counts is the spirit and intent behind our words. It is the spirit andintent that the Creator responds to. He reads and listens to our heart. Prayer isn'tonly when we fold our hands and pray. Prayer is when we talk to the Creator evenwhen we are walking down a path or sitting on a hill or walking in the mountains. The Elders say, walk in prayer. We should be willing to talk with the Great One.

Great Spirit, today I will pray to You all day. Listen to my heart

2013 would be the Year of the WitchPosted by Debby Many Nations

2013: The Year of the WitchPam Grossman

Early last year, with all of the 2012 Mayan Calendar End-of-Days hubbub reachingfever pitch, I thought it best to figure out something to look forward to: after all, theapocalypse can be such a drag, darling. Yes, the world is supposed to end, butwhat next then? Surely there had to be a light at the end of the voidant tunnel. So afew months ago, I proclaimed to my friends and readers that 2013 would be theYear of the Witch a statement made with equal parts sincerity and salt.

The numerological symbolism was obvious of course: 13 moons in a year, 13fertility cycles, 13 witches in a coven. Its a number considered unlucky andunlovely for so long, weve seemed to have forgotten why, while still obliterating itfrom our tallest buildings. And so its a number inherently bound up in femininemagic, and thus represents a deification of something persecuted; a profanityresacralized, unsullied and crowned.

The archetype of the witch is long overdue for celebration. Daughters, mothers, queens, virgins, wives, et al. derive meaning from their relation to another person.

Witches, on the other hand, have power on their own terms. They create. Theypraise. They commune with nature / Spirit / God/dess / Choose-your-own-semantics, freely, and free of any mediator. But most importantly: they makethings happen. The best definition of magic Ive been able to come up with issymbolic action with intent action being the operative word. Witches aremidwives to metamorphosis. They are magical women, and they, quite literally, change the world.

Amazingly, though not surprisingly, as soon as I named 2013 the Year of the Witch,

I began to see synchronicities and sympathetic signs all around me. This yearmarks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and the 50th anniversary of TheFeminine Mystique, two of the past centurys most quake-making reclamations offemale power. Obamas inaugural civil rights incantation of Seneca Falls, Selma,Stonewall (and Salem, a friend of mine half-joked), began with the name ofone of the most pivotal womens rights gatherings in history. This year, fourwomen were sworn into all of the Live Free or Die states top government seats.

And Hillary Clinton, arguably the most powerful woman in American history, ended her tenure as Secretary of State last month with the following words:

If women and girls everywhere were treated as equal to men in rights, dignity, and opportunity, we would see political and economic progress everywhere. So thisis not only a moral issue, which, of course, it is. It is an economic issue and a

security issue, and it is the unfinished business of the 21st century.Already this year, weve seen an unprecedented occurrence of powerful womenemanating through our screens. The 70th annual Golden Globes were hosted bytwo women for the first time; Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are the respective stars oftheir decidedly feminist TV shows, and two awards were given to Lena Dunham, the creator and star of her own appropriately enough named show, GIRLS. TaviGevinson (a real voice of a generation) publicly declared that she believes inmagic on her ever-more popular online teen girl magazine, Rookie. The SuperBowl the most watched television event in America had entertainmentexclusively by women (and all African American women to boot).

And whether or not Beyonces half-time hand gesture was or was not an Illuminatisign is less interesting to me than the fact that the triangle is also the symbol of thetriple goddess. Do I think thats what she intended? Almost definitely not. Yetthere it was, flashing in front of millions of eyeballs, then self-replicating endlesslyin a digi-jungle of tweets and animated gifs. Symbols are tricksters. Sometimesthey speak in the subtlest ciphers. And sometimes, they bubble up in the collective

cauldron via a black-leather-clad demi-goddess for all the world to see. And witchstories are being told all around us this year. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters,American Horror Story: Salem, Beautiful Creatures, Oz the Great & Powerful, are

just a few titles that are slated for release in 2013. Its not that we havent hadcenturies of these stories preceding us, but it seems we are witnessing a witchlytipping point. Its long been considered that one of the primary symbols of femininemagic is the snake. Theres Eves serpent of course, but also the Minoan snakegoddess, Medusa, Mami Wata, & Ix Chel to name but a few. Snake magiccorresponds to the holiest cycle there is: Life, death, resurrection. Like a snake each

month, fertile women shed their own inner skins. Double snakes show up inesoteric systems around the world ouroboros, caduceus, kundalini, Quetzalcoatl, the naga, the yin-yang and they symbolize the life force (Read Jeremy NarbysThe Cosmic Serpent if you want to trip out about how this all maps onto DNA).They writhe together in the balance of opposites, holding the tension of, well, everything, between their coils. Snakes channel the energies of the Great Mystery.

Theyre associated with the underworld, the moon, ancient wisdom. And guesswhat this Chinese New Year will usher in on February 10th: Yup, the Year of theSnake. The Black Water Snake, to be exact. You can bet that when I heard aboutthis, it made my third eye bug out. I know some of you are thinking: but whatabout the men? Cant males be witches? Isnt matriarchy just as bad as patriarchy?

Well, thats the beauty of an archetype: it can be embodied by anyone, regardless ofage, gender, looks, background. Girls are taught from the time theyre born toempathize with both male and female characters. When I was growing up, I didntonly want to make out with David Bowie (hello, Labyrinth): I also wanted to beDavid Bowie. I could relate to the Holdens & Morpheuses & Bernard MickeyWrangles as much as I could to the Phoebes & Rose Walkers & Princess Leigh-Cheris. And were starting to see a new generation of boys who instinctively do thesame. Black and silver Easy-Bake Ovens and gender-neutral Harrods toys help, but so do parents who take all of their kids to watch Artemisian heroines likeMerida and Katniss flinging their arrows. And there are certainly plenty of adultmen who have been embracing the way of the witch. On a blatant level, I cant helpbut notice that each spell crafting class I teach has more male attendees than thelast. But we also have leaders like Al Gore and Nicholas Kristof and RichardBranson and Prince Charles loudly championing environmentalism and womensrights. They are helping to usher in an age of higher consciousness andresponsibility, and, though they probably wouldnt use these words themselves, theyre positively swimming in yin.

And so, this is the year when I predict we will all more fully channel the spirit ofthe witch. Honoring the earth and our bodies; shifting away from mass-marketmedicines and agri-business toward natural healing and whole foods; sharing ourresources rather than focusing on mere accumulation of goods; collaborating andcommunicating more openly; helping to elevate women and girls to equality allover the world: these are all grand workings of feminine magic that we aremanifesting together. So for 2013, I wish you more witching. More opportunities toclaim your power, to slough off old skin, to ritualize your life. May your year have

you feeling more attuned to the rhythms of nature, more connected to one another, and more plugged into planet and purpose. The apocalypse has happened, myfriends, and its still happening. Our task at hand is to bring about the end of theold world, but then to create something vital and shining and new. Instead of fourhorses, were riding in on brooms.

Practical SkillsPosted by Marjabella Le Fey

Making the most of your skills:

First and foremost is to have Charkas that are in functioning order. The reasonbeing, without them in good working order, it's pretty hard to summon up anycontrol over your Empathic skills.

Most Empaths, those that are untrained at any rate, tend to use the sacral or rootcharkas most of all, which is all about our feelings and our sexuality, ( I list bothhere, as there are two difference schools of thought, as to which controls sexuality )likewise the heart chakra, since it's all about emotions. However, this leaves aperson pretty much out of balance, if one uses them, and them alone. So, job one isto get the rest of the Charkas into the game, and get them in good working order.

The throat chakra comes to mind, as we not only have to be able to feel emotionalstates, we generally have to be able to talk about them. The voice is our instrumentto express ourselves. Some simple ways to work on this one ? Sing for one, nice

rousing songs, that tug at your feelings, things that make you want to get up anddance about.

Chanting is another good one, nice, deep, feeling of your heartbeat sounds, thatbecome a kind of musical meditation. Talk to yourself .. no I am not kidding, I meanit quite literally. To speak your thoughts out loud, is to experience them ... just don'tdo it around others as a rule, or they might think you a bit balmy in the head. :)

The root chakra, the base that underlies it all, is a must have in good working order.

If we lack this, we tend to become ungrounded, and some what lost in the winds. So a simple means of giving this one a work out ? Think of a tree, its roots downdeep in the ground ... now, become the tree, feel your roots deep in the earth, drinkup the water and nourishment that's down there. Feel the power of earth fill you,and become part of you.

The third eye chakra, the point of the mind and all intuition. If this one is closed off,we tend to become entirely brain centered, have to "prove" everything. Vs, beingable to bypass the senses and open this up center to allow for real "knowing",without the interplay of the body. Recall, our sense organs are just that, ways andmeans to gather data, but it is the mind that really understands it all.

So use it, open it up to what else is out there. A simple means to do this ? Havesomeone you trust work with you and have them just sit there and think, nothingelse, just think of whatever they want. Now, your task to in effect, read their mind... to open that third eye and see, without seeing, to know, without having to gathersense data. This also, as you might expect, sharpens your skills at clairvoyance.

The crown chakra, which is above your physical head. This ones a real gotta have,as if it's not working, what you often become, is pessimistic and have a grand

tendency to avoid anything new. Simple means to exercise this one, get out and donew things, try things, make a list of "things I have never done" and go do them.Take a few classes, and learn new things, turn your fingers loose on the internet, and go hunting for things and ideas you have never yet experienced. As a fave songof mine says "Free your mind ... and the rest will follow"

    Limiting the imput:

As discussed in other missives, one must limit the data coming in, to a form andflow, you can handle. This varies for everyone, but it's a skill we all must have. So afew simple means to make this work for you.

Oil and water don't mix: An exercise of the mind. Your in a crowded place, thefeeling of those around you start hammering on the brain. Think, all that data is oilflowing your way, answer, an image of a water bubble, all around you. The feelingsmight slide around and make some rainbow colors on such a shield, but they arenot getting into you, unless you want them too.

One I have not tried myself but might work for you, Teflon. You know, that stuff

inside your frying pan, that wont let things stick to it ? Imagine that between you

and whatever overwhelming negative sense imput out there. Or, to use a computer

idea, a firewall, between you and it. Millions of examples but I think you get the

idea, it's a mind set, a filter that you impose,

between yourself and the emotional data, to only receive and keep, what YOU wantto. Such information is a signal. A piece of information. Hear it. Do what isappropriately do-able, if there is nothing you can or should do, then file it for later. Then shift your mind, onto something else.

    Taking out the trash:

It's inevitable we will tend to pick up negatives, either from others, or from withinourselves. So we must have a means to take out the garbage once in a while. A fewmeans to do so.

Write it down, and hold out no stops when you do. Don't censor yourself, saywhatever you want, however you want, rant, rave, scream if you must, but get itdown and get it out. Now, once your done, go back over it and consider, the

emotional states that went with them. Think about the situation you were in, usethe analytical mind to sort it all out and remember it, in a non emotional state. Onceyou have sorted it all out, burn the pages and let any negativity go up in smoke.

Another water trick: Most of us bath, at least once a week :) Saturday night bathand all that.. or daily, but you get the idea, we all do this, so it's a perfectopportunity to use the power of water to cleanse us of any data that camewandering in, say the night before in our dreams for example. Wash them away, right along with the dirt, it's a mind game .. but one that works. See any negativefeelings your are carrying about as so much psychic dirt, and let the flow of thewater take them from you, and away down the drain, where they belong.

Imagine a bright blinding light, and fill your entire body with this cleansing fire oflight, let it fill every nook and cranny, to where there is noting within you, but thispositive light. Nothing negative is permitted to remain, and just keep upping thebrightness of the light, until every single bit of darkness or negativity is gone.

Any mental creation that gets the negativity to the trash heap, is fine, heck use yourrecycle bin on your desk top if you want, whatever image works best for you, use it.The mind is a wonderful tool, it will do exactly what you ask of it, if you feel itvividly enough. Never mind the mechanics of how it does this, trust me, it can do it,all you have to do, is tell it to, with enough force of will.

CHARGE OF THE GODDESSPosted by Willow Raine

Whenever ye have need of any thing, once in the month, and better it be whenthe moon is full, then shall ye assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit ofShe, who is Queen of all witches. There shall ye assemble, ye who are fain to learnall sorcery, yet have not won its deepest secrets; to these will She teach things thatare yet unknown. And ye shall be free from slavery; and as a sign that ye be reallyfree, ye shall be naked in your rites; and ye shall dance, sing, feast, make music andlove, all in Her praise. For Hers is the ecstasy of the spirit, and Hers also is joy on

earth; for Her law is love unto all beings. Keep pure your highest ideal; strive evertowards it; let naught stop you or turn you aside. For Hers is the secret door whichopens upon the land of youth and Hers is the cup of wine of life, and the cauldronof Cerridwen, which is the Holy Grail of immortality. She is the gracious goddess, who gives the gift of joy unto the heart of man. Upon earth, She gave theknowledge of the spirit eternal; and beyond death, She gives peace and freedom, and reunion with those who have gone before. Nor does She demand sacrifice, forbehold, She is the mother of all living, and Her love is poured out upon the earth.

She who is the beauty of the green earth, and the white moon among the stars, andthe mystery of the waters, and the desire of the heart of man, calls unto thy soul.Arise, and come unto Her. For She is the soul of nature, who gives life to theuniverse. from Her all things proceed, and unto Her all things must return; andbefore Her face, beloved of gods and men, let thine innermost divine self beenfolded in the rapture of the infinite. Let Her worship be within the heart thatrejoiceth; for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are Her rituals. And therefore letthere be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirthand reverence within you. And thou who thinkest to seek Her, know thy seeking

and yearning shall avail thee not unless thou knowest the mystery; that if thatwhich thou seekest thou findest not within thee, then thou wilt never find itwithout thee. For behold, She has been with thee from the beginning; and She isthat which is attained at the end of desire.

Bnwyfre (TM) Healing by MovementPosted by Bruce

A simple exercise to start the day with enthusiasm.

    1) Stand with feet shoulder width apart and feet flat to the floor and arms by yoursides.2) Breathe in slowly to the point where your chest has expanded enough, but not

so much that it is uncomfortable.3) Breathe out slowly to the point where you are aware that you are depleting the

natural quantity of air your body holds.4) Relax breathe normally.

Repeat this exercise as many times as you feel necessary, the object of the exercise isto encourage natural rythm. This ritual is significant because breath is life force andwe are recognising this. Once you are comfortable with this ritual and understandthe significance of breath (AIR) as a life force energy then move on to 5.

Having completed stage 1 to 45) Breathe in slowly as deep as is comfortable and hold your breath for up to 6

seconds.(6 seconds is a target to aim for)6) Breathe out slowly.7) Breathe in slowly and raise arms as you breathe in, keeping your arms straight

raise your arms as high as you can, if possible above head. As you raise arms keepthe palm of your hand straight, when your hands reach their highest point thebacks of your hands should be opposite each other.

    8) Hold your breath for up to 6 seconds.9) Breathe out slowly and keeping arms straight, palms straight, lower them to

    sides.10) Relax breathe normally

Repeat these two exercises as many times as you feel necessary, the objective of thesecond exercise is once you have become aware of breath as a life force, you shouldstart to become aware of the synchronicities involved within you. With your palmsfacing in and raising them above your body to the point where the backs of thehands are opposite each other the palms are working with your natural energy and

introducing outside influence from the Earth. Earth energies rising within you, asyou become more sensitive the palms of your hands will become cold and possiblythe backs of your hands will be warm to touch. As sap rises within a tree you willalso feel Mother Earths energies rising within you.Once you are comfortable with both Air and Earth as energies within move on to11.

    11) Breathe in slowly and raise arms as you breathe in, keeping your arms straightraise your arms as high as you can, if possible above head. As you raise arms keep

the palm of your hand straight, when your hands reach their highest point thebacks of your hands should be opposite each other.12) Turn palms to face each other and keeping palms inverted as you breathe outlower arms to sides13) Relax breathe normally14) Repeat this whole exercise from 1 to 13 appreciate the glory of celestial /spiritual energy as you lower hands with palms out.

From this last exercise the internal alchemy encourages the energies to flow freely,to become fluent as three. Earth, Sky and Water the power of three and one of thebest kept secrets from the time of the druids.

    Enjoy your dayNamaste`

Angelic help with shifting energiesPosted by Willow Raine

Things have not yet settled after the energetic disruption of the Cosmic Moment. Asa result of the shake up the shadow sides of individuals, countries and the worldare coming out to be examined. It has been so difficult for so many people, myselfincluded. The good news is that this too will pass. It feels as if some projects andrelationships that have been totally stuck for the past few weeks are movingforward tentatively now.

It is a time to hold steady and remain as calm and relaxed as possible. You may findanother level of your inner child reveals itself for healing and it is certainly time to

clear out the clutter and uncord. One thing is certain we need the loving help ofangels more than ever at this challenging time. Here are three things you can dothat may help you.

Bringing peace into your home or officeIn New Light on Angels I explain how to create a peace corner. I have often told thestory of a young teenager who read this and decided to change the energy in herhome. Her brothers and parents stopped quarreling and the atmosphere in theirhouse shifted. You may do this exercise for one minute or one hour, as long as you

can hold your thoughts on peace. The Angels of Peace will see your intention andthey will enfold you.

Step 1. Choose a place in your home which can be dedicated to peace. It may be achair or an alcove or somewhere you can sit quietly.

Step 2. Sit in this place at least twice a day.

Step 3. Call in the angels of peace to be with you.

Step 4. Think only peaceful thoughts while you are in this place.

Step 5. Relax and know that soft golden energy is flowing from your peace cornerthrough your home or office and others will be affected by it.

    You can make a difference.

    Healing your inner child

So many of us think we have gone a long way towards healing our inner child butany unresolved layers are screaming at us now for attention. Most people need

more inner nurturing, love, validation and support. You can do this simple exercisewith your own inner child or to help someone else. Try doing it even if you dontthink you need it!

Step 1. Find a place where you can be undisturbed and light a candle if possible.

Step 2. Close your eyes and relax.

Step 3. Ask your Guardian Angel to place its beautiful golden wings around you sothat you can sink into them.

Step 4. Imagine yourself as a baby or child. You may be surprised at the age of yourinner child.

Step 5. If it is a baby, sense and feel yourself cuddling and rocking your tiny self.Whisper, sing or send to it all the things it needs to hear. Know that your Guardian

Angel is healing your baby through you.

Step 5b. If it is a child look into its eyes and see or sense the uncertainty and longingfor acceptance and love. Whisper, sing or send to it all the things it needs to hearand know that your Guardian Angel is pouring love and healing into your childthrough you.

Step 6. When your baby or child looks and feels safe and loved ask your GuardianAngel to pour golden light into its aura.

Step 7. Place your golden child into your heart.

    Uncording with Archangel Michael

  • 7/29/2019 March 2013 Enchanted Forest Magazine

    47/50

I feel that uncording is one of the most important things we can do to helpourselves and keep our energies clear. If you work with people or have a familythey will unintentionally be putting cords into you. Uncording may help you to seea higher perspective, take clear decisions, think more clearly, work better and havemore energy. This does not mean that the person will disappear from your life but

it allows the lower emotional entanglements to dissolve.

Step 1. Find a place where you can be quiet and undisturbed. Light a candle ifpossible.

    Step 2. Invoke Archangel Michael.

Step 3. Ask the person or people you wish to uncord from to sit in front of you.

Step 4. If you can, visualise and feel the cords between you. They may come intodifferent chakras.

Step 5. Mentally tell this person or people you are now releasing them so that theyare free to be themselves.

Step 6. Ask Archangel Michael to cut the cords with his Sword and dissolve themright down to their roots.

Step 7. Feel or imagine this happening.

Step 8. Thank the person or people for co-operating and see them walk through agolden gate onto their highest pathway.

Step 9. Thank Archangel Michael and then open your eyes.
