PASTOR’S THOUGHTS... continued

SENIOR PASTOR SAM VALVERDE

VOLUNTEERS

My deepest appreciation for all who registered to volunteer on this first phase of FTC’s renovation. The world would not function without volunteers. These are a special class of people who so genuinely believe in a cause they are willing to give of their time. The Kingdom of God is a worthwhile cause, and directly connected to God’s Kingdom is the local church.

Many years ago I attended a seminar where the Supreme Court Justice of the State of Illinois informed over 1,000 pastors that the school systems, prison networks, counseling clinics and state programs were not working. His Honor practically begged us to step into the community and allow our local churches to reach out to help them resolve these social problems. He was right. The local church is God’s way of reaching out to the lost and needy. It provides services, prayer, counseling, small groups and a hundreds of support systems. Those disconnected to a local church miss out on important spiritual, social and family support. Those disconnected from serving (volunteering) in even the most menial capacity also miss out.

FTC SUNDAYS RENOVATION

That is why receiving guests, answering phones, serving coffee and ushering those who attend our Sunday celebration looms extremely important. Volunteer servers are important; they are very close to Jesus’ heart. Sometime this month you will arrive at a Sunday Celebration and see an entirely different “package and feel” of our church. We are stepping up from good to greater, because good is not good enough. We are making all efforts to improve relationships - everything from our marriages to our smiles. FTC: “Everyone must step up with genuine friendliness, reaching out, greeting (before and after service) and stopping to welcome people EVEN IF WE ARE BUSY! That is our “busyness!”
