Investing In Our Future With New Talent At CC

Canyon Creek isn’t just a cabinet manufacturer and what makes us who we are is our people. We recognize that in order to grow, we need to bring in people who have new talents, ideas and experience, to enable us to continue providing you with the quality products and service that we are known for. Over the last several months, we’ve made a number of changes in our management structure at Canyon Creek to accommodate growth.

In January, Robert Foote joined our company as executive VP. Bob has over 26 years of progressive management experience in supply chain management, procurement, operations, information technology and finance. Since 2004, Bob has been a key member of the executive management team for two national cabinet manufacturers during which he gained extensive experience in the stock and custom cabinetry businesses, as well as in component manufacturing operations.

We also recently added Rick Lovorn as our VP of operations to lead the company’s manufacturing. Rick has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing and operations in both

the cabinet and furniture industries. Throughout his career, Rick has served as general manager and president for stock and custom cabinet manufacturers of various sizes, and ran four manufacturing plants for a furniture company.

Also as part of our plant management reorganization we appointed Jim Evans as pre-finish manager. Jim has over eight years in

millwork production management, and holds a master’s degree in leadership and HR development. Before that he served 23 years in the Navy, ending his military career as a Lieutenant Commander. Jim and his team are already putting their experience to good use.

Last November, we added Michael Reed as our new finish manager. Michael has over 15 years of experience in cabinet manufacturing, mostly in finish. His

experience in a cabinet plant ranges from the mill to shipping, and before joining Canyon Creek he was the plant manager for a custom cabinet manufacturer in Texas. Just in the short time that Michael has been with us he’s put his technical knowledge and expertise to good work in our finish department.

We will also say goodbye to our executive VP Doug Chadwick. Doug, who has been a vital member of the executive management team at Canyon Creek for over 15 years, is going to retire on March 26th. We will miss his leadership, expertise, and many contributions to the company.

We will continue to add to our talent pool, all designed to make us a better company and give us the ability to excel in a changing world.

It’s that time of year again. With the weather (finally!) heating up, the snow melting and the sun shining brighter, most of us are coming out of hibernation and getting ready to tackle the spring cleaning checklist. With the sheer volume of trinkets we all keep tucked away in our kitchen cabinets, we know that organizing your kitchen is one of the most difficult tasks on the list. Fear not - we’re here to help! A great organization system relies on maximizing the space you have on hand and creating an efficient, smart workflow. Here are a few tips to get you started:

Segment your kitchen into zones

One of the best things you can do to improve the flow of your kitchen (and cut down on time spent cooking) is segmenting your space for separate uses. In the baking zone, for example, you can layer your mixer, food processor, measuring cups, flour sieves and more, while the refrigeration station can house cling wrap, aluminum foil and Tupperware. The most important part of the segmenting process? Making sure your zones are located where you’ll use them. Keep the baking zone by the oven, the food prep zone by the sink and the dish-washing zone by the dishwasher. Easy as that!

Think vertical

Now that you’ve got your zones mapped out, it’s a good idea to take a look at how you’re using your kitchen cabinets. Could you maximize the space you have on hand by creating more vertical storage with racks or hooks? You’ll be amazed at how much more room you create when you add in a second or third layer to stash your stuff.

Sort items by how often you use them

Of course maximizing your storage space means potentially cramming too many things into your kitchen cabinets. To get the most out of that space, it’s a good idea to put what you rarely use farther toward the back, while plac-ing items you use every day front and center. This cuts down on the time you’ll spend rifling through your stuff when you’re trying to reach that potato masher.

Whether you’re buying for an old friend or welcoming someone you’ve never met, there are few better ways to make people feel at home than with a housewarming gift. It’s a great way to show that you support them in this transitional time of their lives and want them to feel at home - but it can be difficult to think of anything to give besides the requisite bottle of wine. Next time you head to the store to pick out the perfect gift for friends or family, bring this list along with you.

• A few nights’ worth of dinner• Local delivery menus • Address labels• Group board games • A spice kit • An electric wine opener• A French press• A corkscrew and a bottle opener• City-specific art• A gift card to the best restaurant in town• A map with all your favorite places circled• A 6-pack of locally brewed beer• Shampoo, conditioner and body wash• Economy-sized package of toilet paper and/or paper towels • A weather kit (think umbrella, shovel, ice scraper, raincoat, sunscreen, etc.)

For many, purchasing art is stressful - there are so many op-tions and few cut-and-dry rules. That being said, make it as “you” as possible–and the key to that is trusting your instincts.

If you’ve never really bought art before, spend some time combing design sites and Pin-terest, saving photos of art that catches your eye. After a while, you’ll begin to know what strikes you, and what those pieces have in common.

Once you’re ready to buy, check out the local art scene! There are countless places to search for art - galleries, antique stores, auctions, art schools, and even online stores like

Etsy and art fairs are wonderful resources.

Art - regardless of which room you hang it in - doesn’t need to be a painting. There are so many forms of art, and all are worth exploring. Original works are cool because they’re one-of-a-kind, but this makes them much more expensive. For less expensive (but still beautiful) art, try a poster or a reproduction.

Whatever you focus on, make sure you buy what you love - not what you think is popular. Art is a great way to enhance your kitchen design and ex-press who you are. The more personal it is to you, the better!

The key to success when buying a housewarming gift? Thinking creatively

about what people need most in a new home, what

they might have trouble learning, or what they

might need right away out of all those boxes.

Located in North Wales, PA, the company was founded by two brothers, Gary and Richard Volpe as Volpe Roofing in 1970. In 1974, Gary bought his brother’s interest in the company, and it has grown into a successful complete home renova-tion company with two locations, both with retail showrooms.

Gary and his wife Janet are the general manager and president, and their three sons, Michael, Stephen and David hold leadership roles within the company.

Michael is the senior estimator and is responsible for pricing and creating detailed proposals. Stephen is the marketing/systems coordinator and is responsible for overseeing the sales division, marketing and IT department. David is the production manager and is responsible for quality control and the production scheduling for all renovation projects. Another integral team member is John Bonner, who is the operations manager.

Continued demand for Volpe’s services forced them to move not once, but three more times for additional space between 1977 and the present time. Now located in a 7,000 sf building, the North Wales Design Center office and showroom allows potential customers to see everything from—cabinets, countertops, backsplashes and faucets—to flooring on display. The Norristown showroom displays many different roofing, siding, windows, doors and decking displays.

Volpe has a team of project managers who will help homeowners work within their budget to choose the styles, colors, and type of materials that will make their homes look beautiful for years.

Once the signed contract is logged into their system, they will assign specialized employees that will work on the project from start to finish. These skilled craftsmen take pride in their work and follow up with an inspection to ensure that the job is completed in accordance to the agreement.
