Growing up, one of my weakest subjects in school was science. I don’t know why but I just never excelled in it. I do, however, remember being fascinated when we learned about DNA. It just completely blows me away that microscopic nucleotides (thanks, Google!) determine everything about us. Now, I can almost guarantee that you don’t spend your time every day thinking about your DNA. But, without it, you wouldn’t be who you are. It is your blueprint. DNA is that important. Just as your body has DNA, our church has DNA as well. Whatever our DNA is will determine our identity. Whatever we, as a church, hold as utmost importance and pour who we are into will determine who we become. It is my belief that our DNA as a church must be two-fold. We must be a church whose identity is dened by the DNA of missions and discipleship. We must be a church that is devoted to reaching people in our city, in our state, in our nation and in our world with the gospel of Jesus. We must also be a church that devotes ourselves to making disciples who follow Jesus and join Him in His mission. This is, again, what we mean by our purpose statement that “we exist for the glory of God to introduce people to Jesus and teach them to follow Him.” This is the essence of the Great Commission. In my belief, mission and discipleship cannot exist without one another. Missions depends on disciples who go. True disciples of Jesus will go to the lost with the gospel. In closing, I want to let you know about a couple of great opportunities our church will have to be blessed this month. On Sunday, March 13, we will have a guest worship leader lling in for Eddy. Landon Reynolds serves as Worship Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Florence, SC. Landon is an extremely gifted worship leader and I know you will be blessed by his leading on the 13th. On March 20, we will have some very special guests and dear friends of mine and Kristy’s lling in for me as I am on the mission trip to Mexico. Lee and Laura Ashley Harper will be with us in our morning and evening worship services. The Harper’s spent the last two years in London, England working with the IMB to reach the Muslim people. On Sunday morning, Lee will be preaching on the story of Ruth and on Sunday night, the Harper’s will be sharing about their time overseas. Be praying for our mission team headed to Mexico at the end of this month. Pray for our safety but more importantly pray for the gospel to be made known to those who have not yet heard or who do not yet believe. Pray for the harvest. It is plentiful.

I love you, Taylor Road!

What a week it was ... it wasn’t just your normal celebration ... there was something special going on. It began with a parade into the city like no one had ever seen. The streets were lined with people waving palm branches, cheering, shouting and singing...”Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” They worshipped him!

What a week it was...they listened to His teachings...they watched as He challenged the status quo...but something soon changed. What happened?

What a week it was...many of these same people, by week’s end, were convinced that something just wasn’t right. They allowed others to talk them out of their celebrating and began doubting if they were doing the right thing. Soon, they followed the “loudest” voices and began talking, cheering and shouting for death!

What a week it was...as thorns, nails and even a spear was used...they heard, even in the midst of the suering, talk of care and forgiveness, but they watched as death became a reality.

What a week it was...despair, hopelessness, loss.

What a week it was...because “Sunday is coming” and it looks like...VICTORY!!!

The greatest day in history,Death is beaten, You have rescued me.

Sing it out, “Jesus is alive!”

Empty cross, and empty grave; life eternal,You have won the day!

Shout it out, “Jesus is alive!”

Oh, happy day!

Come sing and lead with us this Easter season...see you Wednesday!

"WHAT A PRIVILEGE IT IS TO CARRY EVERYTHING TO HIM IN PRAYER". That is a line in an old hymn that we used to sing. It truly is a privilege to be able to have direct communication with our heavenly father in prayer. Prayer is powerful and God answers prayers. I urge you to come and join us as we join our hearts in talking with God. As I look back on the month of February in the life of Taylor Road Students, I cannot describe how the student ministry team feels except for extremely grateful. Our constant prayer is that students would grow more in love with Jesus everyday. Disciple Now weekend was a huge opportunity for that to happen, and we already see a closer relationship forming from that. DNOW weekend and the upcoming mission trip could not happen without the Holy Spirit and He has chosen to work through these events to change the lives of our students. Your outpouring of support through prayer, nance, time, and supplies has not gone unnoticed by any of these students, and we are all very grateful for you!

Our students are red up for missions. Most of them cannot wait for the next mission opportunity and we are anxious to make that happen. Of course we have our Mexico Mission Trip coming this month from March 19-26, please be in prayer for that. We are also looking to be more involved in our own church and our community. Please pray for our students as we actively seek to introduce people to Jesus and teach them to follow Him.

Samuel Frances SmithLaura Ingalls WilderCaptain John Smith

Christopher ColumbusAbigail AdamsDavy CrockettDaniel Boone

Juniors, if you’re in need of a book report for school, check out your church library!

The book Bronner by Sherri Burgess is in the library. “Bronner tells the heart-wrenching, but ultimately encouraging story of God’s steadfast love for the Burgess family during its darkest hour. This book testies to how the Lord gave them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. (Isaiah 61:3)” -Jim Daly, President, Focus on the Family

You may be a fan of the Rick and Bubba radio show. Sherri is Rick Burgess’ wife and she tells the story of their two-year old, Bronner, who drowned.
