Letter from Donna…

Dear Friends,

Bringing comfort to God’s people, who are most in need in Israel for 2016, has exceeded our reasonable budget goals…again, for another year. That makes for a very fulfilling year-end report from this national director on behalf of a hard working volunteer team, core staff and our faithful donors, YOU!

“Yeah we did it!” or a more scriptural response could be exclaimed from Psalms 96:11-13 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.

As you read our chairman’s and treasurer’s overview report, the financial success in all our Israel Aid projects has been most significant out of Canada. Without the funds, the people would perish… just as Ester exclaimed would happen to her, if her standing at the 11th hour for her Jewish people did not work before her husband king “for such as time as this”.

Our funds to Israel continued always to be our mandated priority; yet in doing so, our general fund has fallen behind which we hope to rectify in 2017

We know our Israel funds will strengthen proportionately with more foundational footings in Canada.

Our achievements are measured in many more ways; our spirit of unity in our team building and outreach to Canadians for Israel, the teaching-education, the prayers and intercession, the joy of worship and music, the interaction with faith groups, and the remembrance of what has gone before us such as the Holocaust, so we know the importance of boldly countering anti-Semitic anti-Zion (Israel) aggression today.

There are always reasons to celebrate such as 2015 was ICEJ’s 35th anniversary of bringing comfort to Israel and connecting the church to her. In Canada we celebrated! In 2016 my Jewish friend Harriet called me up, and excitedly proclaimed that our celebration could continue for didn’t we know our 36th year is a double ‘18’ which in Judaism means “L’Chaim – To Life”.

LETTER FROM DONNA continued from front cover…

Now 2017 as we mark our 150th anniversary as a nation, we immediately took our focus to Israel. Could we not find 150 Ways to Bless Israel? Let us count the ways…and off and running we are once again inspired and equipped by God’s word and His promises for Israel, with an attitude of faith and thanksgiving. In Canada we will celebrate… 150 ways for Israel’s sake and ours in a double blessing.

Thank you for helping us bless and stand with Israel in His service this coming year!

God bless you abundantly,

Donna, on behalf of our entire ICEJ Team Canada

Isaiah 12:6 “… Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.” “No one has ever become poor by giving.” ― Anne Frank

In honour of Canada's 150th celebration, we invite you to join us in any one or more of our goals throughout 2017 in finding 150 ways to bless Israel from Canada!

To launch our Campaign, we transferred 100% of $150,000.00 from most generous donors in Manitoba to purchase an equipped ambulance and medical scooter through the Christian Friends of the Magen David Adom in Israel. Following this and the devastating fires in Israel especially in the Haifa region, the Holbrook family donated 150 Canadian Hudson Bay Company (HBC) multi-striped polar fleece throws for the Haifa Home Holocaust Survivors and the elderly fire victims who need assistance.

Please join us in 2017 to bless Israel from Canada!

• Pray for Israel for 150 days, or 150 prayers • 150 Handmade gifts, scarves, hats, mittens, notes • 150 Purchased gifts that can bless an Aid project • Donate $150 or become a monthly donor • Be part of Planting 150 tress in 2017 • Host a “love Israel” event, a seminar or a movie

screening to be part of our 150 Events. • Your own ideas, please share them with our

thanks & blessings!

The Ministry continues to enjoy broadening support from long-time and new donors who are recognizing the work of the ICEJ Canada team. We are fortunate to experience rising revenues which finance many very worthy projects in Israel. In spite of rising costs, we expect steady growth in the future.

Growth in 2016 is reflected in the fact that total ministry revenues grew by over $130,000 compared to 2015, while transfers to Jerusalem for our Aid projects increased by over $176,000 compared to 2015! What a blessing this has been and we are on track in 2017 to surpass these results thanks to supporters like YOU!

The residents of the Haifa Home were thrilled with their blankets!

Report from the Board Chairman Mr. Richard Holbrook…

part of her time by calling to thank donors & supporters…

I enjoy speaking to our donors; they are such amazing people. They understand the importance of standing with Israel & the Jewish people… they often see the blessings that come into their lives as a result of blessing Israel through ICEJ Canada. As scripture says in Genesis 12:3 “I (God) will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you I will curse.” God is so faithful to His word.

I love the fact that I can tell our donors that 100% of what we receive will go to the project they designate. While calling donors, many commented on ICEJ’s television show on Vision or Daystar. Steven said he “caught the program on TV when he was whipping around on the remote”. He watched the program and decided to become a donor to Israel through ICEJ as a result of his channel surfing. Tracey shared a unique story when we were talking. She bought a ring with the star of David on it at a garage sale. Daily seeing the ring with the star of David on her finger reminding her of Israel she decided to revise her will making a legacy donation for Israel, the apple of God’s eye, through ICEJ Canada.

I was able to go to Israel on an ICEJ tour in 2015. We visited the usual tourist sites from Tiberius and surrounding area in the north to the Dead Sea and Masada in the south. It was a wonderful trip. However, the highlights for me were visiting the home for Holocaust survivors in Haifa where ICEJ Canada provides funding for heating in their winter months and air conditioning in the summer. We talked with individual residents, sharing time with them. While in Jerusalem Rabbi Shmuel, a Canadian now living in Israel, spoke to the group about his work as a Torah Scribe. He opened up some basic intricacies of the Hebrew language for us. What depth of meaning God has for believers hidden in His word. Another evening Miri Isen, a retired colonel of the Israeli military intelligence, shared a few geopolitical problems facing Israel. It was eye opening to realize the complexities Israel faces just to exist. Susan Jackson

“I like Kelley. She asks if you want prayer. I feel so blessed when she prays for me. I feel like I received more than I gave! I receive the ICEJ email news. You hear information from them that you don't receive anywhere else. I became familiar with ICEJ from a very good presentation from Dr. David Dunn. ICEJ is a wonderful organization.” Claudia B.

“Thank you for your program available to me on Vision TV, what a privilege to hear truth with topics re. the EU labelling, the BDS movement and the courage of the two professors speaking out against anti-Semitism in Canadian universities - need to be brought to the fore. Thank God for this ministry, I applaud your efforts and pray for the dispelling of anti-Semitic feelings and propaganda.” Letter from Treva M

ICEJ Canada is a member of the Evangelical Association of Canada, the CCCC (Canadian Council of Christian Charities). The ministry is professionally audited each year by accounting firm Norton McMullen LLP. ICEJ Canada is led by Donna Holbrook who continues to volunteer her time, and the Board of Directors, Members and Rep’s who also volunteer theirs.

Susan Jackson has been a member of the ICEJ Canada Board of Directors since March 2013. She lives in Peterborough ON with her husband Bill and is very active in her church and with our Area Rep Sandra Berry. They host educational seminars, provide teaching and participate in several area prayer groups.

Project Updates MDA Ambulance At the end of December, we transferred 100% of $150,000.00 from most generous donors in Manitoba to purchase an equipped ambulance and medical scooter through the Christian Friends of the Magen David Adom in Israel.

The RED CARPET Project In 2016 donors provided funding for extra training for the workers at the Red Carpet Project in Tel Aviv to improve their hair styling skills for those with “homeless hair”. The mentors work with women who have escaped sex trafficking, drug addiction & abusive relationships.

Haifa Home for Holocaust Survivors AN ICEJ PROJECT SINCE 2009 Approximately one third of Israel’s some 180,000 Holocaust Survivors are impoverished, struggling with illness, or living alone. At the Haifa Home they experience quality of life in a loving and caring environment. ICEJ helps care for approx. 80 Holocaust Survivors daily in more than 9 self-contained reno’ed low rise apartment buildings including meals and social outings. Now in their 80’s and 90’s, their life is short and we need to do even more while time remains to make a difference for these precious people.

In 2016 ICEJ Canada sent over $110,000.00 to contribute to their monthly utilities bills. Thanks to our fabulous ICEJ Canada donors the exact amount for the entire utility bill was transferred just in time; otherwise utilities would have been shut off. We cannot change their painful past, but we have a wonderful opportunity to make a huge difference in their lives today. In our unique Haifa Home for Holocaust Survivors, where Christians and Jews work together, people find a loving home and safe haven. Thank you so much for your continued support for this very special project.

Kelley Stewart Office Administrator

Kelley joined our staff in 2010 to work part time and help Donna in our Toronto office. Since then she has become an integral part the ministry. Her favourite part of her job is talking & praying with our supporters. “After hearing their stories and praying with them, I don’t know who is blessed more. It is a great privilege to be the Lord’s servant for such a time as this”.

Operation LifeShield Bomb Shelters

In 2016 ICEJ Canada donors provided funding to build & install two new bomb shelters; one in a Bedouin village near Beer Sheva and the other thanks to partner Derek Prince Ministries Canada for one at the Yuval HaBasor school in the Eshkol Region in Southern Israel. The goal for 2017 is to install three new shelters in our continued partnership with Rabbi Bowman Exec. Director of OLS

In Canada we celebrated!

Donna’s letter is continued on the inside back cover of this report.

2016 TREASURERS REPORT

“The year 2016 ended with noticeable increase in funds sent to Israel to finance projects that have been identified as critical by our agent in Jerusalem. While this created a deficit in our books, we are working to increase foundation funding to offset this in 2017. The overall financial picture of ICEJ-Canada is very encouraging. Kudos to everyone who are working hard in meeting our stated goals”.
