The Sports Page (& Other stuff)

Hello SMVS Huskies sports fans! Our school basketball program is continuing to shine as we

have our 5 teams that continue to practice. On March 2 our grade 5/6 will be travelling across

town to take on the Pre Cam school team we have a 1-1 record with them this year. After our

game vs Pre Cam we will have one more game vs Gordon Denny then hopefully end off the

year with a tournament, the tournament date has yet to be determined as I am waiting to

hear back from GDS. Good job to coach Bear with the younger kids in basketball!

March 1 our Sr boys and girls will be facing off against Montreal Lake basketball teams at

SMVS main gym. Parents and guardians are encouraged to come watch the games will start

at 1 PM.

Our junior girls and boys teams continue to practice. The girls will be travelling Hall Lake on

Friday March 3 for a game. The boys have only played Churchill this year. I have tried to set

up games against other surrounding communities but there are some schools that do not

have basketball teams. I will continue to coach and practice our junior teams as it helps to

build up our youth in basketball.

High school hockey tournament will be happening at JRMCC on

March 7. The schedule for the tournament will be posted on our

Facebook page so if you are interested in coming to watch please

go to our Facebook page for more information.

Thanks

Eric Gardiner

Cree Choir : The Cree Choir are practising hard, one month until the PAGC Fine Arts Festival, please parents help your students with there song “Nipin” by Carl Quinn and Cree Poem. I gave each student a copy to practise at home and I told them to use YouTube and they will find the song there.

The following are students that will (hopefully) be attending PAGC Fine Arts and they need to keep coming to practise everyday. School attendance is a must also good attitude, behavior , and school work teachers are the ones that will have a say of who will be going.

Success!

We had 43 elders join us for a meal

and entertainment. Music by Ralph

Opikikew and Jude Ratt, jiggers,

storytelling by Albert Ross and

Bella Sanderson. The highschool

students did an awesome job help-
