Every lunch includes an unlimited garden bar. Kids can fill their plates with all the fruits and veggies they desire. About 10 options are offered daily from the following: Salad Mix, Spinach, Coleslaw, Oranges, Cucumbers, Carrots, Cauliflower, Apples, Corn/Peas, Broccoli, Bananas, & Zucchini. Many items and seasonal additions come from local farms!

A Complete Meal MUST include three of the five following choices: meat/meat alternate, grain, fruit, vegetable, and milk. Students may decline two food choices,but must take ½ cup fruit and/or vegetable with their meal.

Fun Facts about our great state

1. You probably know Washington produces more apples than any other state, but we’re also the top producers of pears, red raspberries, spearmint oil, and sweet cherries.

2. Lake Chelan’s surface is 1,000 feet ABOVE sea level! It bottoms out at 400 feet BELOW sea level!

Spring is Here!

Although the first official day of Spring is March 20, we may not see consistent days of warm and sunshine for a few more weeks. Here are some simple crafts to brighten up those gloomy days that seem to linger:

1. Make a sponge rainbow: Dip a rectangular sponge in stripes of rainbow-colored paint and swipe over paper.

2. Cereal Rainbow: Use Fruit Loops or Fruity Cheerios to make a rainbow.

3. Tie-Dye Flowers: Cut out flower shapes from large coffee filters. Use watercolors to paint the flowers. Attach a pipe cleaner stem and stick in a vase.

4. Salted Vases: Add food coloring to Epsom salt. Spread a sheet pan and allow to dry. Using a paintbrush, spread all-purpose craft glue all over a recycled glass or plastic bottle or jar. Sprinkle the colored salt over the glue and allow to dry.

5. Finger print Caterpillars: Select multiple bright-colored paints. Place a small amount of each paint in a palette or on a paper plate. Have your child dip the tip of the finger in one of the colors and use it to dot a piece of paper. Continue connecting colored dots until the carterpillar is the desired length. Once it dries, use a marker to draw on legs, eyes, and antenna.
