Q: Does the name "Five Oaks" refer to a smaller areaQ: Does the name "Five Oaks" refer to a smaller area

than the name "Washington County?"than the name "Washington County?"

A: The delineation of "county" is very specific, with hardedges and a definitive place in history. As the storytellersof this region, the museum wanted to reach even furtherto include people coming from other areas, differentcultures, and those stories that came before the countywas created. The Five Oaks historic site has beenimportant to many peoples over many important periods ofhistory in this area, so the name "Five Oaks" representscomplex and inclusive storytelling. Symbolically, Five Oaksreaches wider while remaining rooted in this area.
