OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL DENVER, COLORADO Food For Faith Living from the desk of Fr. Mark

As we celebrate Easter Resurrection Glory, we realize this awesome truth presents to us the true view of God so easily distorted or, sadly, taken for granted or ignored. Such is the history of the human family. The truly humbled and appreciative realize they reached this truth in their lives by not avoiding the path to it. They experienced the desert and search for a true self, one stripped of the pomp and promises of the material world. They’ve denied the false gods, their influence and seen through the shallow, superficial security of achieving goals that do not last, images of success and control of their lives. They’ve abandoned the anxiousness of ambition, pursuing more and the fulfillment leading to oblivion. In a word, they found their true self and are at peace with who they are, having an inner joy in being self without fanfare, popularity or fame. They are content with the mystery of self and the obscure and surprising ways the Mystery of God is revealed. They truly rejoice in Easter because they understand and appreciate Good Friday. This is beyond me, not for me. Such is the abandonment of faith. There’s that word again. It’s charming, reassuring and risky. It’s relating to Mystery, so there is no certainty. Every figure in the Bible faced the same challenges we do. Often, we refuse, reject or doubt God is calling me. Yet, GOD IS! Every person finds and lives, faith only after their God experience, that moment, occasion, circumstance, insight or realization of God’s presence. Those who pursue this, open themselves to the invitation, grow in wholeness and holiness. They took the risk. It is God inviting us to let go of self-seeking centeredness, satisfaction and righteousness in order to find our true self elsewhere, in God and people, not things and pleasure. To let go of being wrapped up in self is to understand the Cross and be blessed with Easter meaning. Make believe? Fair tale? Yes, for those who embrace it without faith. They think ritual righteousness, rules and regulations, are a security blanket for eternity; they have self-security. Being for others is demanding. That’s what love is, a gift with no guarantees. Being alive happens when love is responded to with love. Hindsight confirms it through ups and downs, joy and sorrow, thick and thin, being victimized and forgiving, etc. It’s life and does get messy and muddled. Easter reaffirms God’s truth: “Be not afraid! I am with you always. Rejoice and love each other as I love you!” A blessed and peace-filled Easter and Lifetime to you and yours.

The Easter event changed Jesus and the women who were the first to see him. It changed the disciples, and it can change us if we allow it. To be open to change is to be open to the unexpected. The reality of resurrected life that embraces God’s life sets us free from human limitations. WE joyfully celebrate this great moment in faith. Blessings on this Easter Day and Season, Servite Friars, Pastoral and Support Staffs. A small bottle of Holy Water is available for the:

EASTER BLESSING OF HOMES

The head of the home conducts this blessing in the presence of the family by reciting:

BLESSING In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Peace to this home and all who dwell here. Lord, we rejoice in the victory of your Son over death;

by rising from the tomb to new life He gives us new hope and promise. Bless all the members of this household, and surround them with your protection,

may they find comfort and peace in Jesus Christ, the Paschal Lamb, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

The head of the house may sprinkle those present and the home with holy water, dur-ing the sprinkling the head of house may say:

Let this water call to mind our Baptism in Christ, Who by His death and Resurrection has redeemed us.

The head of the house concludes the rite by signing himself or herself with the Sign of the Cross and saying: May Christ Jesus dwell with us, keep us from all harm, and make us one in mind and heart, now and for ever. Amen DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY, April 3, 2016 We have a chaplet and adoration of the Divine Mercy Image after the 9 am

Mass. At 12:30 pm Our Lady of Guadalupe is leading a procession through the

neighborhood with Mass, outside, to follow at 2 pm and Adoration at 3 pm. The relics of St. John Paul II and St. Faustina will be there also. At 4 pm there will be food available for this event. Other parishes, (St. Dominic, St. Catherine & St. Joseph’s Polish) are taking part in this event.

The Pastoral Council asks you to come to our Open Forum Meeting on
