“Observance in the Workplace” We strive to be our whole selves wherever we go, but showing up as a Modern Or-

thodox Jew in the workplace can come with its share of complications. Whether it’s about leaving early for Shabbat, handling time off in the fall for the holidays, or keeping

kosher at work functions, we will come together to hear and share stories (including success stories!) of managing observance in a diverse variety of workplaces.

April 18th: “Me, Myself, & God”

May 2: “Attention: Caregivers Need Care, Too” June 6: “When Life Takes a Detour”

women. All adult women are welcome. Events will be held at 4:30 PM at a private home in the community.

every month, & was formerly titled “YP Has-sidic Happy Hour.”

Why is this Haggadah seminar different than all other Haggadah seminars? Because this year's "Haggadah

Slam" is even bigger and better than before! BDJ is partnering with Tempe Beth Am, IKAR, Temple

Emanuel, and Temple Isaiah this year for a pro-gram of rich and deep Seder preparation AND of

powerful affirmation of the unbreakable oneness of our people. The evening will include both textual and

musical options offered by a wide array of clergy from all five institutions! Full

program to follow very soon, but mean-while be sure to plan on being with us

on the 25th!

members and their immediate family members may be added to the list.

We know these are anxious times. We want to take a measured

response to the coronavirus while we strive to protect the health and safety of our shul community.

It is important for all of us to follow the best advice being dis-pensed by government health authorities. As such, we are writ-

ing to inform you of changes that we are putting into effect tem-porarily. We will implement the following for the foreseeable

future: -Diligently disinfect high-frequent touch areas such as doorknobs

and bathrooms. -Add more trash cans to facilitate disposal of dirty tissues.

-Reinforce good hand hygiene with Rechov Yeladim staff both for themselves and for the children in their care.

-Fully stock bathrooms to facilitate frequent handwashing. -In addition, we will temporarily cease carrying the Torah

around in procession on Shabbat to avoid multiple people touching and kissing them. As a reminder, individuals should also practice general flu pre-

vention strategies: -Frequently wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds or more.

-Cough into your elbow, or cover your cough and sneeze with a tissue that is immediately thrown into the garbage.

-Utilize alternate ways of greeting each other instead of hand-shakes, such as verbal salutations or elbow bumps.

-We will not be putting out the Half-Dollars for Machatzit Hashekel this year. Please simply contribute $1.50 (per family

member, if this is your custom) on the designated plates. -DO NOT come to shul if you are sick and do not bring

children to Rechov Yeladim if they exhibit fever or cough. If as a result of being sick or immuno-

compromised, you are unable to hear Parshat Zachor or Megillah, please be in touch with our clergy, who will

assist you.

If you have any questions, please be in touch with Adynna Swarz

or Duke Helfand. For any ritual concerns, please be in touch with the clergy.

Adynna Swarz, Executive Director

Duke Helfand, President Rabbi Yosef Kanefsky, Senior Rabbi
