GlobalI you are under 90 years o age, most people now understandthat you have to think global in these modern times. AlthoughI dont meet the age requirement, even Mikie is starting to thinkglobal as he looks around at the world. For instance ... Mikiethinks this winter has been a global pain in the butt!!!!! Mikiehas also prayed extensively or a return o Global Warming!Just kidding!!

I elected ... Mikie promises that there will be no winter snowall greater than 5 cm and no more than 10 cm allowed on theground at any one time!

I there is one thing about politics that Mikie understands... its how to get elected. Canadians and New Brunswickersdont understand decits o billions o dollars, nor do we trulyunderstand economic development. What do we understand??WEAHER!! And o course the things that go with weather

snow shoes, snow shovels, snow blowers, snow boots, roo rakesetc. One o the key things we understand about roo rakes is thai you dont have one already, it will likely be spring beore youcan nd one in a store. Because o our constant ocus on weatherwe have developed an extensive vocabulary around it. Mikiesvocabulary to describe snow or instance is very extensive, butunortunately unprintable!!

I, however, you are in the snow removal business this winterlike Mikie, why you have it made. Global Big Bucks!! When themissus gets her snow removal bill in a ew weeks, she is goingto aint at the number o zeros that it contains. I am alreadyworking out my budget and a list o new equipment that I wilbe picking up over the summer. One more winter like this one and Mikie will be spending mos

o his winter at my southern villa. Always willing to share in mygood ortune, the missus will be invited to drop in rom time totime. I she can nd me!!!!

Find me a politician who understands the real concerns othe people, and promises about weather reorm will ollow likesnowakes in a 50 cm storm!! 800

MooRE FRoM oaWaRob Moore, MP Fundy RoyalAs Canadians, we live in a country where each and every oneo us is ortunate enough to be able to pursue our dreams andambitions. We are also ortunate to live in a country where thelaws o the land are designed to protect law-abiding Canadianswho work hard and play by the rules. Tese are the peoplethat our Conservative government has stood with since weormed Government in 2006. Tat is why we are acting on casesacross the country where an abuse o justice has occurred. Oneexample o this type o case recently occurred in oronto, wherean honest shopkeeper named David Chen was prosecuted ormaking a citizens arrest against a shoplier who had 28 previousconvictions. Mr. Chen detained the shoplier, and was in turnarrested when the shoplier testied that he had been orciblydetained by Mr. Chen.Canadian citizens have a right to deend their property rom

intrusion and the. It doesnt matter i that property is ashop in oronto or a home in New Brunswick. Mr. Chen wasound not guilty by the Court, but we want to make sure thatproperty owners and shopkeepers are never put in that type osituation again. Tat is why on February 17, our ConservativeGovernment introduced the Citizens Arrest and Sel-Deence

Act. You have a right to deend your own property, and thisnew legislation will clariy those rights so that you can protectyour home and ensure the saety o your amily without earingreprisal rom police or an overzealous prosecutor. Our Government is committed to putting real criminals behind

bars. Canadians who have been the victim o a crime should notbe re-victimized by the criminal justice system. Tis legislationwill provide the opportunity to clariy the right o citizens toprotect themselves and their property. 513

SIGN oF SPRINGYou may think Im crazy, since as I write the snow is still piledneck deep out there, but I saw my rst sign o Spring last week.Being somewhat challenged in the height department means myneck is closer to the ground than most, but still that is a LO osnow. Nevertheless, Spring has arrived . . . at least in the heart oone sedentary at cat in our household.

Now the Smudge is a lovely cat. Easy-going, riendly, purrs atthe drop o a hat and oen without even the hat. She has beencontentedly nudging the corporate Jet out o the way all winterso she can be closest to the wood stove. But the other night, as Iworked around the kitchen, there was the sound o a gallopingcat to be heard. Tis does happen occasionally as we have threeo the urry beasts, but normally it is one cat chasing anotherand rarely is Smudge involved. Never as the chaser, occasionally

as the chasee. When I continued to hear the galloping, I turnedto investigate. Tere goes Smudge rom the bedroom to theden, at out! No other cat in sight. Tere comes Smudge againrom the den to the patio door . . . still no other cat in sightShe continued to criss-cross through the main living area withseveral more mad dashes beore ambling over to her ood dishas i nothing untoward had just occurred. Now perhaps she hasstarted her own get in shape or summer exercise program, buthe only explanation I have is Spring Fever has struck. Maybe itsthe lengthening days or some quality in the light, but Its springever. Tat is what the name o it is. And when youve got it, youwant - oh, you dont quite know what it is you do want, but it justairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!~ Mark wain. 80
