The day long celebrations included the certificate distribution to the final year students who have successfully completed the 100 hr Soft Skill Training programme as a part of the Infosys Campus Connect Programme. Mr.D.V.Subba Rao, the former Mayor, Visakhapatnam and the former Chairman, Bar Council of India graced the occasion as the chief guest. He urged the young ANITIANS to tread the path of success with clear goals and to play a vital role in realizing the dream of turning India into a superpower. He further advised the budding talent to have more patience which is the key to success. Mr.V.Thapovardhan, Secretary & Correspondent, ANITS presided over the function and elaborated the necessity of multidisciplinary studies at Undergraduate and Post Graduate levels to yield better results in research projects. Prof.V.S.R.K.Prasad, Principal, ANITS, in his brief annual report highlighted a few achievements of the faculty and students at National and International level. He congratulated the ANITS WARRIORS who won the Overall Championship Trophy of the Hindu E-plus Club Challenge – 2011. Trophies and Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Co - curricular and extra- curricular competitions. SPORTS DAY - 2011

Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences celebrated its 10th annual day on 15th March

2011 on grand scale. The day long celebrations included the certificate distribution to the final year

students who have successfully completed the 100 hr Soft Skill Training programme as a part of the

Infosys Campus Connect Programme.

Mr.D.V.Subba Rao, the former Mayor,

Visakhapatnam and the former Chairman, Bar

Council of India graced the occasion as the chief

guest. He urged the young ANITIANS to tread the

path of success with clear goals and to play a vital

role in realizing the dream of turning India into a

superpower. He further advised the budding talent

to have more patience which is the key to success.

EXPERT LECTURE UNDERCSI STUDENT BRANCH

An expert lecture was conducted on “Advances in Soft

Computing & Guidelines for applying to AICTE, DST

sponsored Projects” by Student Branches of CSI and IEEE of

ANITS on 8th April, 2011. Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Assistant

Professor, Department of EEE, IIT Delhi has delivered a

lecture on identifying innovative problem statement and applying

Soft computing techniques on it. He has illustrated Bacteria

Foraging Optimization Algorithm (BFO) with Power System

Problems. He has given useful tips on how it can be applied to

AICTE & DST for Sponsored Research Projects. HODs’, senior

faculty members, M.Tech and final year B.Tech students

participated in this event. As a whole, 60 Research Aspirants

participated in the event.

BioAxis DNA’S research centers (BDRC) excellence in real world

applications of Forensic science, Biotechnology and other

Bioinformatics and Computational Intelligence methods.

Dr.Kumar talked on “DNA changes with the climate

change: truth, myths and the challenges”. The talk was

jointly organized by BRSI in association with CSI and IEEE

student chapter of ANITS. Prof.G.H.Rao, faculty, students from

IV/IV BTech Biotechnology and Prof.S.C.Satapahy, HOD, CSE,

were also present.

BRSI UNIT

The Department of Biotechnology, ANITS initiated

BRSI (Biotech Research Society of India) Unit, the professional

society of Biotech Engineers of ANITS. Prof V.S.R.K.Prasad,

Principal inaugurated the function on 8th April 2011 and

Prof.R.Govardahana Rao, Director (Admin.), faculty,

Biotechnology graced the occasion. Dr. V. Sridevi, HOD, Biotech

is the coordinator of BRSI Unit.

As a part of BRSI a guest lecture was given by Dr.Amit Kumar,

CEO and Chief Scientific officer of BioAxis DNA

Research Center (BDRC) Pvt. Ltd and Secretary, IEEE

Hyderabad Section and is a member of ISCB, APBIONET,

IIIR and PRIB. Dr.Kumar provides leadership towards maintaining

BLAZE CONCLUDING SESSION

The student Association of Biotechnology organized

the concluding session for its activities of 2010-11 on 23rd

April, 2011 under the banner of BLAZE. Prizes were

distributed for various activities like Games, Technical

sessions, Quiz competitions, Treasure hunt etc.

STUDENT INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

The students of III /IV EEE have undergone three weeks

industrial training at various reputed Industries like NTPC, RINL,

HPCL, Visakha Port Trust, APEPDCL, AP Transco.

The students of III /IV ECE-A & B have undergone three

weeks industrial training at various reputed Industries like Vizag

Steel Plant, ECIL, HPCL, Visakha Port Trust, HAL, BSNL, DRDL,

ONGC, HSL and All India Radio.

The students of III /IV BT have undergone three weeks

industrial training at various reputed Industries like Vizag Steel

Plant, Aurobindo Pharma Ltd and Matrix Laboratories Ltd.

STAFF ACHIEVEMENTS

� Mr.B.Rajasekhar, Assistant Professor, EEE has chaired a

technical session in the Student Technical Symposium

organized by IEEE Student chapter and the Department of

ECE & EEE, Pydah Engineering College, Visakhapatnam

on 18th March 2011.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS

� Ms.Priyanka U. III/IV B.Tech Biotechnology has been selected

for Summer Research Fellowship, Indian Academy of sciences

2011 for a period of two months i.e from 5th May to 15th July

at National Centre for Disease control, Delhi.

� Mr. R. V. B. Teja Kumar, IV/IV EEE has got an all India rank

of 61 in GATE – 2011 and got admission in IIT Chennai.

� Mr. G. Srinivas Rami Reddy, IV/IV EEE has secured 94.8%

in CAT and got admission in IIM kolkata.

� Mr. K.Ramakanth, IV/IV ECE has got the GRE score

of about 1360 and stood top in ANITS

in ROBO WARS in a National Level Technical

Symposium ASTHRA’11 at AVANTHI College of

Engineering, on 12th March, 2011 won first prize.

� Mr.S.S.Ramagopal, IV/IV EEE, presented a paper on

“Nuclear Waste Management” in National Level

Technical Symposium organized by Sri Venkateswara

College of Engineering, Tekkali on 18th March 2011 and

won first prize.

� Ms.N.Ragini Devi and Ms.P.Sandhya, II/IV ECE-B presented

a paper on “Cellonics Technology” in a National Level

Student Technical Symposium, in the event vidyatech

2k11 organized by Raghu Engineering College during

Feb 22nd -23rd, 2011 and won the first prize.

� Mr.Adhitya.P IV/IV ECE-B, Ms.K.Rani Poojitha Devi and

Ms.M.Priyanka III/IV ECE-A presented paper on

“Generation of electricity using wind energy and solar

balloons” in the event INNOVATOR-2010 organized by

Confederation of Indian Industry, southern region, Chennai

on 11th March 2011 and won best stall award.

ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY TECHNOLOGIES

A one day workshop on Environmental Friendly Technologies was conducted by the Dept. of Biotechnology and Dept. of

Chemistry on 17th March 2011. A total of 240 students from ECE, EEE,CSE, IT, Mechanical, Biotechnology and MCA departments

participated in the programme.

Prof.S.Ramakrishna Rao, Department of Civil

Engineering, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, the chief

guest of the function inaugurated the program with the lighting of

lamp. Dr.Prakasam Tata, Executive Director, Center for

waste transformation Technology, Wheaton IIIinois, USA

was the guest of honor. Sri.V.Thapovardhan, Secretary &

Correspondent, ANITS was the president of the inaugural function.

Prof.V.S.R.K. Prasad, Principal, Dr.V.Sridevi, HOD Dept of Biotech,

Prof G.H Rao, Advisor, Dept of Biotech, Mrs. N. Padmaja, HOD,

Dept of Chemistry, Miss.Beena Lahari and Mr.Raja Sekhar of

APPCB, faculty of Biotech and Chemistry departments, attended

the inaugural function. All the dignitaries spoke on the benefits of

minimizing the pollution.

Three guest lectures by these eminent environmentalists were

arranged in the morning session while two technical sessions were

conducted in the afternoon session in which 28 presentations were

given on the suggested themes namely “Energy conservation-

Climate change” and “Pollution control: Wealth from

waste”. Cash prizes were awarded for the best two presentations

in both the sessions. In addition to paper presentations Essay writing,

Painting, Ad Making and Slogan writing were conducted on both

the themes and prizes were distributed to the first and second prize

winners of each event.

Prof.P.V.V Prasad Rao, Regional Coordinator,

campaign for Environmental Friendly Technologies was the

chief guest for the valedictory function. In his message he

complimented ANITS for the systematic organization of the event

and appreciated the students for their disciplined behavior. Certificates and prizes were distributed to the participants in the valedictory

function.

FACULTY ENABLEMENT PROGRAMME AT ANITS

A five day project driven on faculty enablement programme was being conducted at ANITS. It was a residential program,

conducted in association with Infosys Technologies Education and Research wing. The Infosys-sponsored program included technical

skills, soft skills, programming skills etc. and aimed at bringing the faculty members of multiple engineering colleges under one roof

to share common ideas, ideologies and methodologies. CEO of Symbiosis Technologies O.Naresh Kumar at the inaugural

session congratulated ANITS for all its achievements and also for hosting such a wonderful platform for the faculty from about 40

Engineering colleges from various corners of Andhra

Pradesh. Head, Campus Connect, Infosys, Bangalore,

Ramesh Babu, interacted with the participants through

webinar and clarified their doubts.

Speaking on the occasion the Secretary and

Correspondent of ANITS, Sri V.Thapovardhan said

students not meeting the industry’s standards would remain

unemployable and in view of this, ANITS and Infosys had

been conducting many such programs for improving the

quality of Engineering Education on the Campus. As many

as 61 senior faculty members from CSE, IT and MCA

domains from 40 different engineering colleges from all

over the state were benefitted from this five day program.

MATLAB AND GENETIC ALGORITHM WORKSHOP

The Department of Information Technology and CSI Student

branch – ANITS conducted a four day workshop on “MATLAB AND

GENETIC ALGORITHMS” on 12th-16th March 2011 at ANITS.
