March 2018
Renovations are moving along nicely. Due to the complexity of the project, a
phased construction approach is required to allow one area to be completed
and occupied before the next area can be renovated. Two new sections were
release over the past two months. These areas are now known as the 700’s
and 800’s. These areas include classrooms, inclusive education and our physics
labs. The next area to be release in the upcoming weeks is the new band/
music area. This will be an exciting time for our band students as this space is
much more conducive to our program. This will also open up our black box
theater for staff and student use as it has been being used currently for our
band program. In May our cafeteria will be shutting down for renovations.
This will extend into September so students will need to bring lunch or access
local establishments for food. We will be moving our tables and chairs from
the cafeteria to various locations within the school so they will have areas to
each lunch. September of 2018 the main office will be located back to its origi-
nal location on the west side of the school. The projected finish of the renova-
tions is the spring of 2019.Three Oaks Senior High School will be closing June

Gwynne Dyer, left, chats with Dylan Corbett, Haley Brennan and TOSH Political Studies teacher Mike Trainor, after giving a lecture
on the world in the Trump era and what the future could look like. - Millicent McKay
Dyer focused on the world and politics in the age of Trump
We have a problem, but don’t panic. That was Gwynne Dyer’s message to political science, global issues
and other students at Three Oaks Senior High School. Dyer, a freelance journalist, columnist, broadcaster
and author, spoke to students about the world in the age of Donald Trump and the future of nations re-
cently. “Journalism isn’t an exact science. You try to make decisions on the hop with partial information.
This morning I’m going to do just that by discussing Mr. Trump and why a man like that was able to get
elected,” said Dyer.
Haley Brennan and Dylan Corbett, grade 12 students who attended the lecture, said it provided insight into things they weren’t worried about. “The world is changing very fast. And the current situations around the world are very unpredictable. The best way to deal with them is to look for the unpredictable solutions. They’re going to be our generation’s big problems to deal with,” said Corbett. Brennan agreed, “We need to change and adapt to overcome the way things are progressing. We can’t keep living the way we are now and expect things to be OK. It’s going to be a lot different when we’re older and we don’t know what to expect.”
