Happy International Astrology Day! .
For a practicing astrologer, every day is an astrology day. We wake up with
astrology, we conclude our day with astrology in mind. In order to get more
attention in the society and to indicate that networking between individual
astrologers and astrology groups is essential, we do celebrate. Sun ingress
in Aries, which represents the Spring Equinox in March, is being observed
around the globe as the International Astrology Day.
AFAN has initiated this marvelous idea back in 1993, and we are grateful
for that. Please keep in mind that this can be a wonderful opportunity to
promote astrology, here in our community, with friends and family, local
newspapers and online. Happy International Astrology Day, everyone!
HORARY ASTROLOGY

Exploring New Astrological Horizons
Our main focus in 2010. will be
astrological education and our ex-
posure in the community. Texas is
well known by its conservative
ways. The role of an association
like ASNT is to demystify astrology
and to teach people in our society
that astrological tradition is not
against Nature, Life, Love and the
Source. We are all well aware that
astrology supports natural laws
and their principles.
We in ASNT are so happy that we
can use Stacy’s Furniture meeting
room as our permanent home.
Please help us keep it clean.
Contributions to this newsletter
are greatly appreciated. If you
haven’t considered writing an arti-
cle about the Moon, Ascendant or
any planetary aspects yet, please
do so. Sandee was busy helping
with some important family obliga-
tions so I offered to take responsi-
bility of sending this newsletter out
— which made me realize how big
this task really is. I apologize if it
arrived late.
If you write a blog on astrology,
healing or any related topics,
please consider sending us a word
or two about your interests. We
also except short book reviews,
astrology humor, drawings and
similar original writings.
When people born outside of Texas talk
about this beautiful state, huge cities, the
industry and the population here, first thing
that comes to their mind is Texas heat. Texas
summer usually starts just a few days after
Christmas, and ends around Thanksgiving.
People are aware of it throughout the world
and probably, around the Galaxy. You have
doubts? Aliens have been visiting Texas
since.. 1897! That’s when an extraterrestrial
spaceship apparently crashed near small
town of Aurora, Texas.
This year, we did not have any aliens falling
from the sky, but we did have snow. Lots of
it! Record low temperatures here in Dallas
and Fort Worth prevented us to have our
usual monthly lecture in February. Because
of the extreme weather conditions, and put-
ting safety first, few of us met as a casual
discussion group at the Stacy’s. I did not
expect many people to show up at the meet-
ing, since Mother Nature was, as women can
sometimes be, so unpredictable that day.
However, several members kindly decided to
accept my invitation and to join our “round
table” talk. We have discussed each other’s
charts, planetary aspects and
configurations. We talked about modern
astrology, Chinese Zodiac and Magi as
well. We’ve had a very interesting meet-
ing, and I realized: even when we study
the same chart, we can still see many
different, important details. We see it
from our different point of views, from
various angles of life, because we have
diverse perspectives. Any client can
benefit from such approach.
This month we have a very exciting pro-
gram to offer to you. The lecturer is our
very own Donna Henson, who has been
practicing astrology for a long time.
Donna always delivered interesting lec-
tures on natal and transit charts. I am
looking forward to hearing her presenta-
tion on horary astrology. Don’t miss it!
Spring Equinox is almost here. Interna-
tional Astrology Day (IAD) celebrations
are taking place around the country. This
holiday was founded by AFAN in 1993.
What a brilliant idea to get the astrology
message out there! Dane Rudhyar once
said: “Astrology is a language. If you
speak this language, the sky speaks to
you”, and I agree. I hope many more
people are going to speak the language
of astrology in the future, thanks to the
organizations like AFAN ISAR, NCGR and
ASNT.
Looking forward to seeing you all in
Grapevine this Sunday!

All in all, it was a great conference. I met so
many astrologers and had a few books
signed as well. And of course, there was a lot
to absorb. I took over 60 pages of notes and
was in class for a total of somewhere around
44 hours. I was truly worn down somewhere
around half way through the conference, but
it was a memorable experience nonetheless.
A few of the highlights for me were the Re-
search Symposium with Rob Hand, Chris
Brennan, Ben Dykes, etc. and Steven
Forrest's Intro to Evolutionary Astrology. In
addition to these, I would also like to men-
tion lectures from Leigh Westin, Tad Mann,
Gary Caton, Demetra George, and last but
not least Alphee and Carol Lavoie and the
GATORS. I spent all day Friday with them and
learned quite a bit about research methods
and software, statistics, and the results of
some of their findings with regard to astrol-
ogy and breast cancer research, careers, and
weather forecasting. And I almost forgot
Arch Crawford, a truly magnificent and hum-
ble financial/research astrologer.
With all that said, I cannot honestly say that I
will do so much at one time ever again with
regard to astrology conferences! I was so
tired from staying up late the night before I
left that by the time I got to the conference I
had already missed the first half of the pre-
conference...and completely missed the
technology class after that! I suppose I
just forgot all about it. I do recommend
going to at least one or two big confer-
ences, as I am sure that you all have
done in the past or are at least planning
to. I feel that they are important for the
astrological community in the U.S. as well
as all around the world. Astrologers need
a reason to get out every once in a while.
Thanks for reading this and encouraging
me to go.
I will see you all Sunday.

Astrology questions
A woman writes: My daughter is in the proc-ess of buying a house (right now), getting married this year – in early June- and going on a honeymoon in the last week of September. How does this all look astrologically? Here is her birth information: born in Austin, TX on March 9, 1986 at 8:15 am. Any possible changes for work?
This is the year for changes in your daughter’s life. Since several planets have entered new signs activating her 0° natal placements, she is finishing a cycle and beginning a new one. When inner planets progress or outer planets transit in a person’s chart, the houses these planets rule have new conditions. In her case, it’s her 4th, 6th, 10th, 11th, and 12th houses that are affected.
The Moon rules her 4th house. Having a home of her own is a major goal of her life since the moon is in the 11th house. Yes, this is the time to get a new home. The progressed Moon is on the MC reinforced by the last Solar eclipse, and the directed Moon has just entered the dy-namic sign Aries. Actually, there are nine natal, progressed, directed, and transiting planets just leaving or entering a new sign making this a very strong urge.
She wants her home to be stable and possible filled with family heirlooms that she will appreciate. She will think of this home as a retreat from the world.
The strong aspects involving the 7th and 9th placements of Pluto, her 7th house ruler, also indicate marriage. The other ruler, Mars, re-ceives an aspect from the Part of Fortune in June and a sextile from the directed MC. She has the ambition to make a good impression on the world and will work hard to being this about.

Astrology at Work
Sandee asks: Does relocation change your life?
Many astrologers use a relocated chart as well as the natal location chart. Personally, I find the natal location chart to be stronger, but the relo-cation chart gives additional insight. When you move east or west, you will have the greatest changes. The difference is not as great for a move north or south. If you have a very afflicted planet in your chart that is angular or strong in other ways you might want to relocate to an area where this would not be so strong. In de-ciding on a location that might be more favor-able, find your most afflicted planet and try to locate where it will not be strong.
To set up the chart compute the difference in time between the birthplace and the new loca-tion to see if the planets function better there than in your birth location. An example would be Barack Obama’s chart.
Obama has an Aquarius Ascendant and a Scorpio Midheaven when the chart is set up for his birth location, Honolulu, HI where there is +10 hours from Greenwich. When it is relocated to Washington DC, there is a difference of +4 hours, a difference of 6 hours, giving a Scorpio Ascendant and a Leo MC. With a difference this large the planets have all changed houses. With smaller differences of 2 or 3 hours, some will change houses and some will not
In the relocated chart his Neptune is conjunct the Ascendant and the Sun is conjunct the MC making both of these very strong. The Sun is in Leo, the sign of its rulership This gives a very strong indication of a rise in status during his lifetime. In his birth loca-tion there are no planets conjunct the angles closer than 5 degrees. Neptune conjunct the ASC. in the relocated chart could certainly indicate the idealiza-tion he received from many people during the elec-tion campaign as well as the tendency of people to see him through rose-colored glasses. Used posi-tively it can indicate vision. In the chart set for Ha-waii the 11th house, Jupiter, rules the senate and house, which is conjunct Saturn that could show how his hands are tied by this body. The relocated chart has a Mercury in its fall (Leo) rulership of the 11th. Mars occupying the 11th, though, is part of a
grand trine. Chart: Barak OBAMA Aug 4, 1961. 7:24 PM, Honolulu HI ASC 18 Aqua.

New Intermediate Astrology Classes
Magi Astrology - Donna Henson
Starting Saturday, March 20 and/or Sunday, March 21 Donna Henson is starting two courses for those who are already familiar with some of the basics. This will be Magi Astrology and Horary Astrology.
Since 1995 when a chapter of the Magi Society was officially founded in the U.S.A., we have had access to an exciting new/old astrology. Though it is new to us, it actually was started at the spring equinox in 1625 in southern China by a small group of Shao Lin monks. Membership in the society was very lim-ited, and each member passed on his secrets to new mem-bers. Most of the legendary astrologers of China have been Magi astrologers.
Between 1945 and 1948, most Magi’s left their homeland an-ticipating the communist take over. Most settled in Hong Kong where they carried on their long-standing traditions and devel-oped a worldwide network.
With the discovery of Chiron, development of the computer, and greater use of declinations, even Magi astrology has devel-oped greatly in the last 20 years. They claim much greater ac-curacy in our astrological predictions due to the fact that we now use Chiron and a tool we’ve neglected, the declinations. Not using these tools, they say, would be like reading a chart without the outer planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Be-sides these two major differences, the Magi’s have been able to back up their claims with research of thousands of charts because they do not have to have the time of day of each birth. Therefore they don’t use the moon, signs, or houses, but instead put the emphasis on the aspects and planetary patterns. In their more advanced work they make much use of midpoints.
In addition, they have somewhat different rulerships although most rulerships are the same as in traditional astrology. Two examples would be that they say Chiron rules marriage instead of the traditional rulers. Neptune, not Uranus, they say, rules computers.
Magi astrology is tremendously useful in Electional astrology – knowing when to start a job or business, when to marry, how to evaluate present relationships, determine one’s best voca-tional field, when to invest in the financial markets, etc. And, remember, their work is backed up by research that has en-abled them (and us) to leap light years in capabilities.
Horary Astrology
- Donna Henson
Horary Astrology, that is the topic of Donna’s talk March 14, is also a very old branch of astrology. In the past, few people knew their birth data, but they still had specific questions that astrology could answer. Horary uses a chart cast for the time and location a person asks the question. Often, when a person gets an astrological read-ing, they really want the answer to one or more specific questions. Many of these can be dealt with by horary.
The cost for six two-hour classes is $100. Any-one who is able to take both courses may do so for $150. The hours for the classes will be de-cided when the wishes of the classes are known. Contact Donna Henson.
Evolutionary Astrology - Mira Cosic
This is a Pluto school of astrology based on the-ory of reincarnation and evolution of the soul. Evolutionary astrology takes into consideration that human beings experience different phases of development in life, ac-cording to their level of consciousness. Our chart is always the same, but the lessons and the events we are going through, are not.
Segment I - Astrology and Your Soul Purpose, Planets, Signs, Archetypes, Distortions. The cost for 12 classes is $300. In person, over the phone or as 12 recorded cd’s.
Segment II - Chart Analysis, Relationships, Planetary Pairs, Rulerships, Techniques and the Chart Structure. The cost for 12 classes is $300. Call (214) 418-7433. [email protected]

Secondly, the ability through this approach to interpret the nodal story, the "karmic birth
chart," provides me with essential information. It is to me the difference between a two-
dimensional view of someone and a three-dimensional view. As Steven Forrest puts it, the kar-
mic interpretation of the birth chart, through the interpretation of the lunar nodes, gives us
"the chart behind the chart." The nodal story provides clues to the soul’s history, and indicates
the karmic issues that are coming to bear on the present situation. What gravitational pull is
influencing the natal planets, and what is the nature of that influence? This can be understood
through the South Node of the Moon. Without this piece, I feel that I am limited in any advice
or recommendations I could give as to how the soul in front of me might move forward on their
particular path. With the North Node, I am able to shed light on the nature of that path toward
their soul’s evolution and growth. Clients are not coming to me to be "described" – they want
to know how to move forward in their life, how to answer their "Call." The Nodes, North and
South, are the keys to exploring this question, and its answers.
Furthermore, I’ve come to be truly optimistic in my own philosophical viewpoint, and in my
interactions with my clients, as I understand the power of our own free will. Our ability to
choose – to move toward to North Node, or to express the potential of each planetary drive – is
one of the most powerful and affirming principles of this approach. Our charts do not "make
us" do anything. They might compel us in a certain direction, but with awareness, we can take
the reigns and choose differently. It is this awareness which Astrology, consciously practiced,
can enliven within us. Self-knowledge is the beginning, and learning to act in accordance with
that knowledge is the choice that each of us can make every day. Prediction and determinism
enter in when astrology is being misused. Only fear and superstition are the result when predic-
tion is the goal. Even if the prediction is a "good" one, this disempowers the client,
and basically tells them to wait around for this "good" thing to happen. Alternately,
the embracing of the principle of free will allows me again to affirm, to show possi-
bilities, to encourage. This approach invites the client to participate in the creation
of their own life. Finally, having received readings from the Evolutionary perspective
on my own chart, I’ve found these principles to be particularly helpful in my own
life. I understand that a reading is not a cure-all – it is still up to me to do the work,
as it is up to each and every one of us to put into application the knowledge that
we’ve gained. But with an awareness of my karmic birth chart, and the knowledge
of the high and low road of each of my planets, I feel less like I am working in the
dark. Instead, I have valuable affirmations, sayings, and images from those readings
which help to guide me on a daily basis, and light my way.
Why Evolutionary Astrology?

No branch of astrology is inherently inferior or
superior to any other. Astrology as a tool can be
utilized well or poorly, depending upon the in-
tent and awareness of the user. It can liberate
and honor the human soul, or it can be damag-
ing, engendering superstition and fear. It is al-
ways the responsibility of the astrologer to be
conscious of its power to either enlighten, or to
dishearten, the client. This remains true, regard-
less of the astrological tradition.
That being said, there are things about the Evolu-
tionary approach that have made it easier for me
to create readings that leave the client feeling
validated, hopeful, and inspired. Following are
the things I’ve found most valuable about the
Evolutionary approach in my practice:
I am pushed beyond "description" toward pro-
viding active and dynamic interpretations of the
planets in their signs and houses. Example: Hav-
ing the Moon in Cancer does not mean you are
moody and sensitive (although this may some-
times be the case). I would offer the range of
possibilities, light and shadow, for a Cancerian
Moon, and generate suggestions as to how to
embrace the highest potential of that placement,
perhaps finding fulfillment as a nurturer, healer,
or stepping into a healthy mothering role. Alter-
nately, I would offer ways to recognize the
shadow aspects of this placement, thereby mov-
ing toward healing that part of the self.

ASNT Membership
Our organization in the past, present and future
It is the purpose of this organization to extend the principles of Astrology, or disciplines impacting Astrol-
ogy, to the local community. In order to accomplish this purpose the Society will have as its main objective
the presentation of educational programs/workshops/seminars for the membership and the general public.
History
The Astrological Society of North Texas (ASNT) is the longest-lasting astrological group in all of North
Texas. It was founded by C.R. and Sue Apitz June 22, 1972 at 8:00 pm in Fort Worth as the Astrological
Society of Fort Worth (ASFW). Realizing that the group was drawing members from many other areas as
well, the name was changed to ASNT November 15, 2002, 12:43 pm in North Richland Hills.
Originally the Apitzes conceived the group to be an organization for people who were practicing astrologers
or those who had an interest in astrology so they could socialize with like-minded people and learn from
each other. ASNT/ASFW has sponsored many national speakers including Dr. Zipporah Dobyns, Martha
Lange-Wescott, Maritha Pottenger, Alphie LaVoie, and Robert Blaschke. For the past several years ASNT
has sponsored a nationally noted astrologer for a two-day workshop, to coincide with National Astrology
Day.
Object and Purpose of ASNT
MEMBERSHIP There are numerous advantages to a membership in ASNT. Membership meetings featuring local and out-of-town astrologi-cal speakers are held on the 2nd Sunday of each (no meeting in May). Guests are welcome, however, after attending two meetings as a guest, member-ship is encouraged. ($30 / first year, $25 after). One of the biggest benefits of membership, however, is an opportunity to meet and talk with like-minded people about astrology. To join, go to www.asntx.com
