This Month (Cont/d..) 2016 AGM – On Sunday 13 March 2016 we will hold the Annual General Meeting of the congregation, at 12 noon, immediately after our morning service. All communicant members are invited and indeed strongly encouraged to attend if at all possible. At the meeting we will hear something from the Kirk Session and the Congregational Committee including an update on the church finances about life here in 2015. Written reports from Session and the Committee including a short summary of the annual accounts are in the 2016 Handbook which is available via this link to the Church website www.kirkpatrickmemorial.org, with a small number of printed copies are available in the vestibule. Please take some time to read this before the meeting on 13 March. Childcare will be provided for Sunday Club and Bible Class aged children. Presbytery Service – On Sunday 13 March, at 6.30pm, we will join with the other congregation of the Presbytery of East Belfast at Knock Presbyterian Church for our annual joint Presbytery service. The speaker will be the Rev Dr Norman Hamilton, (Convener of the Presbyterian Church’s Council for Church in Society) and his theme will be Finding our Voice in a Changing Society - Sharing Jesus is the Public Domain. Since there will be no service at Kirkpatrick Memorial that evening we would encourage as many as possible of our members to join with our brothers and sisters at Knock. Kirk Session Meeting – Monday 14 March, 8pm, Whitley Hall. Congregational Committee Meeting – Monday 21 March, 8pm, Whitley Hall. Friendship Club – The Journey to the Cross – Tuesday 22 March. You are invited to celebrate Holy Week and prepare for Easter by sharing in a service of readings and music to mark what is the climax of the Christian Year. Passion Walk, Belfast – Friday 25 March and Saturday 26 March - Following the success of the Passion walk last Easter in Belfast, you might be interested to know that there are plans to bring it back to the city this year, for one more year. As was the case last year, the Walk is an invitation to share the Easter journey of Jesus in the city where you live. It will take place on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, starting from Grosvenor House on Glendale Street and finishing at the Dock Cafe in Titanic Quarter. Booking via Passion Walk website www.passionwalk.org

For Your Diary EpiPen Training - All leaders in any organisation at KMPC are invited to come along to a short training session on how to administer an EpiPen on Sunday 24th April 12.15 - 12.45 in the Whitley Hall. This session will give you the information you need to know, as well as allowing you some practical experience, using 'trainer pens'. The training will be provided by 3 GP's involved in our youth and children's work.

2016 Church Weekend – We will be going to Castlewellan Castle on the weekend of 17 - 19 June. Keep the dates free – more information to follow.

Kirkpatrick News

Condolences – We wish to send our condolences and prayers to Ronnie Anderson and his family circle following the loss of Elizabeth. Welcome Team – New members are required for the Welcome Team. Please speak to Welcome Team members or co-ordinator, Brian Nixon. Calling all potential key-holders – Following recent security concerns we are now in the process of reviewing access to the building and our key-holder list. If you are an organisation leader or require regular access to the church building outside normal office hours please could you contact the church office to apply to be added to the new list of key-holders. The lock on the side door of the building, and keypad code will be changing with effect from 1 May. Following this date only authorized key-holders will have access, unless application has been made to have use of a key on a temporary basis for a pre-arranged event. The code will be circulated to leaders of all the organisations but we would ask that it is not released to ‘casual’ users of the premises. This arrangement is being implemented to ensure the safety of both children and adults and members of staff. Sunday Club Together - 3rd April – We need a team of 6 volunteers to provide a Sunday Club Together (instead of the normal Sunday Club) which runs during the church service on 3rd April. We would like the team to be made up of folks who are not normally committed to teaching Sunday Club on a regular basis, in order to give our teachers a short break. All the material will be provided. If you think this is something you could help us with please contact Judith Webster ([email protected]) or Claire Ebbinghaus (90473891/[email protected]).

Kirkpatrick News (Cont/d..) Communicants’ Classes – Joining a church family as a full, or communicant, member is a big decision. Here at Kirkpatrick Memorial we run an annual course to provide all participants with information about full church membership and to prepare those who would like to proceed and become communicant members. The course is designed to help the following types of participants: 1. Enquirers – anyone who wishes to learn more about full church membership and to discern whether they are ready to become communicant members; 2. New communicants – the course is required for anyone who wishes to become a communicant member for the first time; 3. Communicants joining from other churches - we strongly encourage all communicants joining our congregation from other churches since June 2015 to attend the course. This will give them the opportunity to think through the commitments they have previously made and to be renewed in their commitment to Christ and this particular congregation of his church. This year’s classes will run as a part of Faith Academy beginning on Sunday 10 April at 7pm, and then on 24 April, 8, 22 and 29 May and 12 June. Anyone planning to attend should use the sign-up sheet in the vestibule. Presbyterian Orphan and Children’s Society – Generations of Generosity – To celebrate the Society’s 150th anniversary the Presbyterian Orphan and Children’s Society is holding a free exhibition in the Linen Hall Library, Donegal Square North, Belfast from 1 – 15 March. The exhibition tells the story of the changes in provision for children due to the development of society. Drawing on personal stories from the archives, it will highlight that the need to alleviate poverty is as necessary today as when the Society was formed 150 years ago and that the same Christian principles still apply. Care for the Family – Take a Break 2016 – Multi-activity holidays for single parent families. If you are, or know of, a single mum or dad, with children aged 8-16 who would be interested in holidaying with people in a similar situation then why not check out this event. For more information visit www.careforthefamily.org.uk.

Service: Friday 25 March @ 7.30pm
