chocolate and cookie day, a baking day where the children made their own chocolate chip
cookies for our parents Valentine’s party (which was the main highlight of the month). The partywas a great success! We then celebrated Family Day with a muffin morning for our families.
The children enjoyed the pizza day that they were able to make their very own unique pizzas.Towards the end of the month, one of our parent’s came in to have some fun with the children’s
hair ….we are very thankful to this most wonderful parent, as she is sought after for her hair
decorating skills, and has made her rounds throughout the Centre. Thank you very much for your time…the children just love it!!! On February 28th we celebrated Black History month withsome real Jamaican snacks, food items, and artifacts for show and tell, music to dance to…ohso much fun. The past month was very cold outside but we still managed to get out here and
there.
Coming up in March; On the 4th Teddy bear picnic bring your favorite teddy bear or anystuffed animal; March 8th and 24th the children will be going to the Lois Hole Library, March

The Preschool Room
The Kinder Room…
Thank you to all the parents who helped us throughout February! The food you broughtin for our Valentine’s party was delicious and greatly appreciated. If you would like to come inand volunteer in our room, please speak to one of the teacher to set up a day, time, and activity.
We focused on friendship, family, and co-operation throughout February and have really
noticed developing empathy and compassion among the children in the room. The children have also been very interested in memory games, matching games, and
other activities which help develop cognitive skills for kindergarten and grade 1. We have been
helping advance these skills by teaching them new games such as “7-Up” (a counting cardgame) and making matching games related to their interests (such as the flag matching game
which also helps to learn different countries). We plan to continue helping develop these skills throughout March. We are also
planning a “Green Day” to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. We also hope to spend more timeoutdoors as the weather warms up and we welcome Spring!
Warm Wishes,Vanessa & AnnetteYour Kinder Teachers
Parents, if you have any suggestions, questions or concerns, please feel free to speak to
your child’s teacher, Alecia, or Cindy at any time. Thank you for your continued
support!!

MARCH 2011 February was an exciting month for the Toffees. Lots of activities going on, some clubs
are underway with many participants in all. (Feedback from the kids has been positive). Theyare very excited to get going each day!
The Valentines Day party was a hit! Thanks to all the families that had donated food, the
kids really enjoyed it. Thank-You again! Some of the OSC children have also visit the WaterfordSeniors Complex in February, the seniors and the children couldn’t express enough to me whata great time they had had. So much so, we have already made plans to return there on March

March is proving already to be a very busy month for us, skating will continue every
second Thursday. We have teachers convention coming up on the 3rd and 4th of March andthen Spring Break from March 28th –April 1st . The teachers have been very busy planning
activities and fieldtrips for that time. Please check on the door of the OSC room for full dayplans, they will be posted a week prior to each occasion. Apparently also this month we have to
be watching out for Leprechauns, or so we have been told.We will continue to go outside when weather permits therefore asking all parents to make sure
they remind their children that they must bring appropriate outdoor gear everyday, including cold
mornings to wet warmer afternoons.I know this is a little early however I’m very excited about this, we have a Dog Bite Presentationput on by the Humane Society on April 14th. The presentation is to teach the children what to do
if approached by a strange dog, whether on the school field or by their own house. ( I have seenthis presentation before and do feel it is very valuable information for your child/children to
know). They will wave presentation fee if we donate things that are on the wish list. I amrecommending we strive for any of the below items from their wish list..
