    Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back. Term 6 already! It promises to be a very busy one, with trips, visits and other exciting events planned.

We had a fabulous day last Friday at Hill End as the whole school took part in the Ffennell Festival. It wasgood to be altogether and it was fun to learn new skills. The sight of Mrs Capel skilfully manoeuvring a 90corner in a go-kart and helmet is one that I think will stick in all our memories for a long time.. We are alllearners at Marcham

An enormous thank you goes to the P.T.A for paying for the coaches and making this exciting trip possible.

Class ArrangementsIn the last newsletter, we informed you of the new class structure for 2013-14. Having Years 1 and 2 togeth-er as a whole key stage (which they are) is an exciting prospect and the way in which we at MarchamSchool had always worked before the recent past. In small schools around the country, this is the most com-mon and educationally viable arrangement.

For those of you as parents, who havent experienced this kind of arrangement, and would like to learn moreabout how it will work, there will be a meeting in school on 27th June at 3.20pm. We hope you will be reas-sured that we have the best interests of your children at heart as you continue to trust us with their educa-tion.

We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Mr Tom Codd to the Year 4 post and Miss Julie Row-lands to join Mrs Johnson as maternity cover for Mrs Jane Kidd from September. We look forward to themjoining our hardworking staff team.

Prayer Space WeekIt was a great event. Children were thoughtful, responsive and reflected on how they, as individuals fit intothe different groups and communities of which they are a part. Thanks to those parents and governors whocame to see it. I know that they were impressed both with the set up and the responses of the children. Many, many thanks goes to Jill Rowe and her team for all their hard work in putting this together and beingthere for the children. We hope that it will help to make them better citizens of and for the future.

Clerk to the GovernorsAre you interested in how the school runs? Could you spare a few hours a month? The Governors are look-ing to appoint a new clerk to the Governing Body to replace Trish Summers, who has been our clerk for al-most 5 years. This post is for September and is an interesting insight into educational procedures and prac-tice. There is a full Governors meeting on 19th June at 7:15pm. You are very welcome to come alongand see how the meetings work. If this appeals to you, please contact Mrs Hutchinson or the school officefor further details. If you would like to talk to Trish to find out more about this role, please leave your detailsin the school office and Trish will contact you.

String concertWe are delighted to be able to invite you to a short concert being put on by our string players. We are really proud of the childrens achievements and are pleased to be able to share what wehave learnt. This concert will take place on Wednesday 3rd July at 9.15am. All parents are wel-come to attend.

    Dear Parents/Guardians

A case of head lice has been noted in your childs class.

Please check your childs hair today.

To detect lice easily use the Bug Busting Way:

Use your normal shampoo and conditioner Wash and condition the hair well, with conditioner still in the hair slot a fine tooth comb into

    the hair at the roots.

Holding the comb tight against the scalp, draw it down the length of the hair

Rinse the comb in between each stroke to remove any lice and to avoid combing

the lice back into the hair

Repeat all over the hair, combing small sections of hair at a time, move onto another section

of hair after each section is louse free.

Rinse hair and with the hair still wet, repeat the bug busting combing method

as before (the combing procedure can be a good time to read with your child).

    If you find any headlice:

It will be necessary to repeat the Bug Busting Way on day 1, 5, 9 and 13 for two weeks. This is to

clear newly hatched lice and to prevent more eggs being laid.

Some people like to use a head lice lotion for the first treatment when there are lots of lice; this

may kill or stun the lice and make the task easier. Repeat treatment after 7 days if lice are still

    present.

Combing every 4th day for 2 weeks is still necessary to clear the lice.

It is necessary to check all members of the family for headlice.

If your childs hair is long it is advised to always wear the hair up, preferably in a plait.

Please tell your friends, family and class teacher so that they can check their hair too.

The comb the county campaign is trying to show everyone how to Bust the Bug! For information on

how to order a Bug Busting pack contact the helpline on 02076 864321 or log on to the website

www.chc.org/bugbusting . Combs can be purchased from the school office.

If you need further advice or information, please contact your Health Visitor or School Health

    Nurse.
