MARIAN ANDERSON AND ME

INTRODUCTIONMarian Anderson was a famous singer. She was famous because she sang opera but she was black. She sang at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. She showed effort, motivation, and persistence to be a famous African American singer.

MARIAN ANDERSON’S ACCOMPLISHMENTIn the 1897s Marian Anderson loved to sing as a child. She worked hard and took private voice lessons. In the 1910s, Marian Anderson gave concerts in churches and musical halls. In 1939 she sang at the Lincoln Memorial. She showed persistence by learning how to sing even though the music school would not teach black students. She even sang at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. By using effort, motivation and persistence, Marian Anderson was able to reach her goal of becoming a famous African American singer.

MY ACCOMPLISHMENT

My goal was to play the viola. I achieved this goal by first playing the violin. I improved by practicing every day. I used higher books. That means I played harder songs. When I

turned seven I started playing the viola. My new teacher told me to practice every day for longer times. This is how I reached my goal of playing the viola.

CONCLUSION

Marian Anderson and I both accomplished our goals by using effort, motivation, and persistence.
