Reduce fossil fuel emissionsReduce total energy useImprove energy efficiency in the transportation, building, and other appropriate sectors, andAccelerate deployment of market-ready distributed renewable energy technologies.
To spur substantial, sustainable, and measurable energy savings, job creation/retention, and economic stimulus effects.

• Grants awards will have a 36 month period of performance
Funds must be obligated/committed within 18 monthsAll funds must be expended/spent within the 36 month grant period of performance Leveraging of funds is strongly encouraged; no cost share required
Up to 10% or $75,000, whichever is greater, may be used for administrative expensesUp to 20% or $250,000, whichever is greater, may be used for subgrants to assist in the implementation of the Energy Efficiency & Conservation Strategy (EECS)Up to 20% or $250,000, whichever is greater, may be used for establishment of revolving loan funds
<$250k - 100% of funds obligated at time of award (EECS required within 120 days of award)$250k - <$2 million – up to $250k* obligated at time of award for development of strategy and approved activities
Remaining funds obligated with approved EECSEECS submitted with grant application, full funding amount obligated with grant approval
>$2 million - up to $250k* without EECS and approved activities
